Sosua Reports

For my second half of my DR trip, I checked out the action in Sosua and based on all the video reports from Cuba Dave, the first place I wanted to try was Passions. It was an easy 10 to 12 minute walk from Rocky's and yes, it was safe during the evening. Sure I got motoconcho guys asking me if I needed a ride but other than that, I was never hassled on the street to Passions.

I did pass by CMP (Caribbean Men's Paradise) along the way but it seemed very quiet from the outside and with a closed front door, it just didn't look that inviting so I never bothered to go in. Also passed by what seemed to be a strip club (forgot the name, maybe Hollywood Nights or something) but passed on that too.

Passions was not difficult to spot since it seemed like the most happening building in the area along with the group of motoconchos out front. I got there on Tuesday night at 9:30 pm and the place was extremely slow. There were only 3 other customers in there besides me and the 20 to 30 girls inside looked pretty bored out of the minds. I quickly checked each room out including the newer Jungle bar and then left. My plan was to come back in an hour to see if things would pick up.

I went back at 10:30 pm and things were just a bit busier with about 7 or 8 guys now. The girls still looked kind of bored. No dancing like I saw on the videos. I sat next to this German guy who gave me the basic info. Almost immediately, I was swamped by a few girls, none that appealed to me. I got an orange juice for 100 pesos and I told the girls that I just wanted to chill and enjoy my beverage for awhile but they kind of kept pushing for business. This turned me off.

Pretty well each one I said 'no gracias' or 'mas tarde' to just rolled their eyes in disgust. Not the best attitude in my opinion. After awhile, I did motion one of the girls who approached me before that I was interested in going up to the rooms with her.

So I paid her the 2, 500 pesos and she went to the bar to do whatever she's suppose to do. Then she took my upstairs to the room. I have to admit that the room upstairs along with the rest of the facility is really nicely designed. Passions is a top notch club from that point of view for sure. Inside the room, there was a large enough and comfortable bed, a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower separated by a red curtain and another space or closet that was also separated by another red curtain. I didn't look in.

The girl, I think her name was Bani (from Santo Domingo) , put a sheet over the bed and then came into the shower with me. Which was a nice touch. There was a plastic container of liquid soap as well as towels. And I was allowed to bring my beverage into the room too.

The session started like your average one elsewhere in DR except the one thing I found different in Passions was the loud, club music. This music continued into the rooms too and personally, I found it to be very distracting. I'm not sure exactly what it was but even from when I was sitting downstairs in the bar area to the time in the room, I just didn't feel all that comfortable.

I know that Passions is suppose to be a safer and more controlled environment in Sosua compared to the other bars with less drama since there are set prices and the girls are never allowed to ask for tips and are inspected, etc, but for me, this place just didn't work out. My discomfort was bad enough that halfway through the session, my little head decided to go limp and pass out for the rest of the time in the room. Now of course I know that this does mentally affect the Latin American girls negatively, even if they are working girls but I tried my best to explain in my broken Spanish that it wasn't the chica's fault and that I'm okay with it.

I've never had this type of issue whenever I brought girls back to my hotel rooms no matter where in the world whether in Thailand, Montreal, Cuba, San Jose or elsewhere. I did have similar negative experiences in similar setups where it was a club or brothel environment where things were more 'open' and there was always loud music blasting away. Maybe for me, I just feel more comfortable in a quieter environment and in my own hotel room where I feel things are in my turf, rather than in somebody else's.

When I realized that things were beyond recovery, I told the lady that it was time to finish up the session since I didn't want to waste her time. I'm not sure how she felt about this either. But at least I did check out the legendary Passions and made the decision that for the rest of my time in Sosua, one visit was enough. I'll decided to do the street bar scene for the rest of my Sosua stay which I'll do a separate report on next. And it actually worked out better for me.

I think that for guys who are comfortable with an environment like Passions, it would be a good place considering the more controlled environment. But for guys like me who just feels more comfortable in my own hotel room, Passions just was not a good place for me. Now having said that, they do have take out available and depending on what time of the night you request it, the price for an all nighter can go down to the same price of 2, 500 pesos if you do this at 1 am I believe. So that is a viable option for the future too if one is into all nighters.

At times I too have felt out of sorts at clubs like these where girls can be pushy and the atmosphere is mercenary.

A good trick is to pop half a Cialis a couple hours before going into an environment like this. It will keep your little guy from betraying you and this, in turn, will make it easier to get into the flow and forget your inhibitions.

Uncle-V[/QUOTE]Actually, I did pop about 50 gms of trade name Viagra an hour before I ventured out. I imagine that if I didn't have that, I wouldn't have been able to even start at all. Half a session is better than none. So this might suggest just how bad the environment was for me at least.

for my final night in sosua, which was a wednesday evening, i was going to hit the main street bars scene. i realized that this was the scene that was perhaps the one where there was most potential for drama and trouble from the girls (and other local characters) but i had already done the blackbeard's thing earlier in the week and passions the night before just didn't work out for me. so it was time to do the big show in town!

i chica-proofed my room at rocky's by putting all cash into the locker and leaving nothing else out that i couldn't part with. i carried a photocopied passport and only enough pesos to buy drinks in my front pocket to be on the safe, cautious side.

unlike other guys, i didn't meet any girls during the daytime hours while in sosua since i was diving. so it was to be an evening only activity for me. after a great dinner at rocky's and sitting in on their weekly movie night, i hit the streets at about 10 pm. merengue and classicos were closed for renovations and the other bars on the same side of the main street like central bar (opposite d'latin) and the one of the corner were moderately busy. seems like they were populated by ex-pats and girls i just was not interested in. a few of the girls hanging on the sidewalk approached me but again, i had no interest in them so i kept walking.

rumba was also moderately attended and a good thing is that i could quickly scan the entire bar from the sideway to see if there were any girls i liked. nope, there were none at all. so the only other place left was d'latin which was easily the largest open air establishment there. at this hour, it was also moderately busy with enough room left to walk around. the entire back part was still empty at 10:30 pm.

what i noticed is that security at all three entrances checked many of the girls for i'd. so i assumed, whether correctly or not, that any girl who got into d'latin, would be of age and i wouldn't have to check for cedula (i'd) myself. i already heard about the horror stories about **** girls being in with the local corrupt cops where as soon as you get into your room with one of them, the cops would be banging on your door and you would have to pay them off.

i got another orange juice for 100 pesos and spent the next few hours just hanging out and walking around the place scoping out the talent. by midnight, things got really busy there. girls of different sizes and shapes were everywhere, from 2s to a few 10s. and quite a few were very aggressive. more aggressive than any of the girls back at blackbeard's or even passions.

there was no way that i was going to be able to blend in, even with other guys there since i was the only asian dude there. in fact, during my entire trip, i saw only one other asian guy in dr! so needless to say, all the girls and the motoconcho guys were calling out to me using the term 'chino'. i'm sure that they were not using this as a derogatory term as they seemed to want to initiate friendly conversation. so i accepted things the way it was without making a big fuss about it.

nevertheless, i was indeed a target. i noticed that some of the girls were hitting on my more than the other guys there. and some, but not all, of the aggressiveness of the girls started to really turn me off. first of all, the aggressive girls tended to be the ones i definitely would touch even if i was paid to do so. they were usually chunkier than i would like. some of them just couldn't take a simply and polite 'no gracias' for a response. a few even after i verbally turned them down, turned around and proceeded to rub their fat asses on me. which i really didn't appreciate. i didn't want to make a scene but i really felt like telling them to get out of my face. i just kept walking if they persisted. i mean, how would you feel if some woman you were not attracted to started to rub herself on you?

i also heard that the aggressive ones, even if pretty, tend to be the ones that do not provide great service and end up being the drama queens. so i kept looking for my girl. after awhile, i noticed an interesting looking chica (mainly because she had blondish hair rather than dark) , sitting on the upper level in the back overlooking the club. when i looked up, she simply smiled. i went by below and she extended her hand for a high five. i didn't stop as i needed to go to the washroom.

when i came back, after another rotation of the club floor, i went by this blonde chica again and she gave me a kiss in the air. this prompted me to go up and meet her. this type of interaction was more than acceptable to me, friendly but not overly aggressive. her name was something like rani. she was there with another chica and asked me if i wanted 2 or 1 chicas. i replied just her.

so i asked 'cuanto questa. uno hora? ' she asked for 2, 000 pesos. now this is where the previous reports really came in handy as i was already expecting figures like this. but i kept countering with 1, 500 and told her that's all the pesos i had left since 'manana, aeropuerto' (tomorrow it's the airport for me). from the reports of others, i was encouraged to stick to my guns at 1, 500 pesos or move on to another girl.

she asked me which hotel i was staying at and i said rocky's and it was 'esta cerca' (very close by) , dos minutos caminar (two minutes walk). she conferred with her amiga since her friend understood more english than her and her friend indicated to me that rani would accept my terms. now in order to further reduce any possible drama, i also learned the phrase 'ultimo prescio' from a spanish speaker here in my hometown. this meant the ultimate, final, or total price. i made it clear that there would be no price paid for motoconcho or taxi. it was 1, 500 period.

deal was sealed with this 23 year old from santo domingo and we walked over to rocky's which was now officially closed for business as it was after midnight. but since i had a key to their steel gate, it was not a problem. i don't think she ever went there before as she asked if this was the place. noticing that the bar / restaurant area was already dark. since there were a few unexpected steps, i didn't want her to accidentally trip in her high heels so i offered her a hand while pointing out the darkened steps. she appreciated this gesture a lot.

after getting into my room, i showered first, then her. then we had a rather unexpected playful session that went well for me (no problems from my end unlike my experience the night before at passions). she, like some of the other dr girls i sessioned with this week, played with my nipples while we were in missionary position. i didn't have the heart to tell her that this nipple play thing did not do a damn thing for me but at least it was not distracting.

it's funny but she still did asked after i paid her whether she could have a bit more pesos for motoconcho and i said i have no more. then she asked if i had any in my pocket but after saying nope again, she backed down. i offered for the hell of it, to give her two extra condoms (which i called canada condoms) which she eagerly accepted.

she was willing to pose in a photo with me too afterwards. i escorted her back out and at the rocky's entrance, she asked me to wait until her motoconcho ride got there. i was kind of puzzled why she would want one. maybe she wasn't going back to d'latin as it was already 2 am but she also mentioned the word 'politur' which meant police. maybe she didn't want to be out walking alone and being spotted by the police or something. i don't know.

but when her ride approached, she thanked me for waiting and kissed me goodbye. i locked up and was quite satisfied with a spendid, successful and trouble free evening in sosua!

overall, yes, you have to stick to your guns if you want to play the sosua bar scene. many girls are aggressive and if you don't approach the girls you like, especially the quieter ones, no deals will be made. i have a feeling that since there were many more girls than guys there, and many of the guys from my observation were not taking any active stances, would have no deals made, unless with only the aggressive girls. so you have to get at least some basic spanish in to facilitate negotiating the deals and your terms.

for me, another issue was that not only in sosua but also at blackbeard's, i only liked maybe 10 to 20% of the girls. but perhaps as long as that 10 to 20% are available for me, i would return to dr. the sosua bar scene is a bit more advanced in order to reduce any possible trouble but totally doable, even for a first time dr visitor like myself if one sticks to the proven tactics that others have passed onto us.

i would do this sosua scene again but since the hunt can be time consuming and tiring, i would also return in combo with a short stay at blackbeard's or field of dreams to balance the trip out.

I am coming to Sosua the first week in March. I want to stay at New Garden. I called to make a reservation and was told it has to be done online via email. I also read somewhere the prices on the website are not firm and you will get a quoted a better rate if paying cash. Is there any truth to that?

I also notice there are 2 diferent websites for new garden Sosua when I do a search online. One is [url]www.hotelnewgarden.com[/url], and the other is [url]www.newgardenhotel.com.[/url] They are totally different websites with different email addresses. Does anyone know the correct one to use?

If you are into blond & blue, this is not the place. Only brown to black, and I agree, I saw maybe 2 asians the entire time I was there. The overly aggresive thing put me off at first, find a wingman, it makes a big difference. Sitting solo you are a target. That being said, there are a few places to go that you won't get junped on. Plan B, New York bar, Jolly Rogers, C'est la Vi, Rockys, and on the beach Rubys, I think its #144? Thats my 2 pesos, have fun!

My plan is to get my open water PADI certificate (this is the official story told to my wife) , and I was wondering if you have a scuba company to recommend?

There are three different rates for the rooms. First is the credit card rate, then the cash rate is lower, and then the ISOG cash rate is even lower. So the rates for the jacuzzi rooms are $90, $84, and the ISOG cash rate of $77.

First, I would like to thank all of you for the wealth of information you have provided on this site. I can't begin to tell you how useful it has been.

Second, my apologies for my first post being long winded.

I will be turning 40 in January and being a single man I decided to fulfill some of my fantasies. After months of debating I finally decided on the D. R.

The things she tells me she wants to do to me sexually makes me want to book a flight there tonight. I know I will have a lot of fun with her but she can sometimes be a little clingy.

The 2nd chica (Santo Domingo) is a little more reserved. She is somewhat quiet, shy and is very polite. But man is she gorgeous. Every time I see her on camera I'm smitten by her looks. I figured it would take some time and effort to sex her up until the other night. We spent hours talking about sex and she is down and ready for everything now. And she can cook to boot!

So I have my girlfriends ready and a few days of my trip planned. I'm still struggle with hotels. I will be in Sosua, SD, and Puerto Plata. I read that it may be best to rent a villa. Given my situation do any of you have any suggestions? Of course, I don't want to bring my "girlfriends" near the action in Sosua.
