I'll be in Colombia in a few weeks. Going to hit Medellin, 2 weeks in Cartagena, then wrap up in Medellin. Question, how is it in Cartagena post New Years? With all the changes I'm hearing it's harder to find girls on the street but I am curious to know if the price drops due to them spending everything for the holidays.

Yesterday one girl in cartagena charged in dollars demanded 300 for an hour and she wouldn't budge! That's double what you't pay in Atlanta or Miami. Why hop on a plane and pay for an overpriced Airbnb in a city where street & beach vendors charge triple the price of everything. On top of that the girl that I did smash last night was complaining about the price and I told her it was good money. She then pulls out here phone and shows me money transfers she's received from passport bros 2 of whom she's never MET! One works as a bus driver and the other in a warehouse. This woman is getting ran through all week and she's still receiving transfers from men she's never met.

Thinking about going to Cartagena around Christmas time 2025 and spending new year there. I now read some comments about CTg being more dangerous around that time. Is that true?
My friend and I are from Europe and our Spanish is really minimal and we never been to South America before. I try to gather as much information as possible, to be prepared.

I mean, there's dozen of ass out there and if one has an attitude then do you really want to pork her? Haven't been down to Cartagena yet but in Medellin, no female I had to negotiate with gave me a problem, one or two were chatty but I still payed below the US price.
If they ask in USD negotiate lower, if she won't budge then find another that will.

I taught English in Colombia for three years. And trust me the prices that you think you're getting a good deal on are prices that would've been considered outrageously high just a few years ago. Just a few years ago 200 mil was the standard. Anybody who's been coming to the city for years knows that. You're probably paying 2 to 3 times that thinking that it's a good price and guess what's going to happen in a few years. Some clowns going to come along and think paying $200 is a good price. Hoeflation.

Say something like "OK 200.000, listo, nos vamos" Maybe they come back "no pesos, dollares" then you say you don't have dollars, 250 pesos or nothing.
Or just walk away because talking USD and you will always lose. In my experience, that dynamic is much more common in CTG than anywhere else in the country. Of course owing to it being a tourist destination. It's incredibly rare to hear anyone give a price in BOG or MDE in USD.

For instance, if I ask them how much is their electric bill every month, they will tell me in dollars. I say but it is Colombia, so why are you telling me in dollars? They will say because they think I do not understand pesos. So maybe there are so many tourists in those areas that did not understand pesos, that the hookers figured it was easier to tell them in dollars. I can just see a mf whipping out his calculator when a chick tells him 150 pesos, as I have seen my friends do in every other country when making purchases.

Going to CTG in early February. Last time I traveled to CTG was 2 years ago and I know alot has changed. I slit time between at Hotel Oz in Boca Grande and an Airbnb in El Laguito last time. I definetly will not be staying in a hotel this time around. Question for the group: Is it better to stay in Getsemani or El Laguito for a Mongering and site seeing visit. I'm staying 5 days in total.
