I am a longtime guest on this site and now I'm finally a member. Skipping all that hooplah can someone enlighten me about this major crackdown that's happening in Dubai. I remember a time when we as men were free to roam the clubs and bars and when we found our catch of the day, we could stroll through the lobby of our hotel and proceed to have a good ol' time with our women. It's really hurting me to know that soon we may be without. Is there anything we can do to circumvent this problem?

I too had a strong urge for real Thai and I think I have had the same experience as you with what appeared on the website as a stunning Thai (Pictures verified!) and ended up with a PRC who I would not have picked up in a club. As they say if it seems too good to be true then it usually is! Vowed never to use an agency again as I have picked up much better girls in the clubs and I'm no stunner myself.

Leave now, avoid the stampede.

On the other hand, if you look back over the YEARS, there's been periodic "the sky is falling" concerns. It's not; too much money to be made (shops sell phones, eti*s*lat sells numbers, visas are bought, apartments rented - who else is going to stay in those grunge buildings - bars need [i]attractions[/i] to bring in customers, who drink...). Public behavior one thing; what goes on behind closed doors another. Everybody has a finger in the pie...

Yes, the Cyclone closed, more due to the owners being too successful, perhaps not willing to share enough with the local "big boys". Rattlesnake gone, but that's due to the hotel itself being past its prime. But how many of the SAME places are still around? Times will change when they stop issuing "independent businesswoman" visas.
