In the past I've always stayed at Kreschatick hotel round the corner with its very good location & restaurants, Bar and room service. Of course Buddha bar is there as well where I didn't even bother try to pick up any girl from there.

I didn't use a taxi company just few driver I hailed in the street. I know I overpaid every time (by choice) because I thought if the price is even duple what I paied my last visit (over a year ago) I am still paying less in $ count. Most of the taxi driver I got speak good english and all of them offered to take me to where girls are. I have some phone numbers of driver. One of them asked me to pass his number to friends visiting Kiev- so if you want I can DM it to you. I didn't use the taxi drivers for more than driving as I was in very short stay, I am back to Kiev in June so I might use other services they offer and report back here.

I made a short notice business trip to Kiev. I was there for 7 days. I saw no change to how life was in Kiev compared to a few years ago, but several brought up the war in the East. Safety was never a concern for me, but then I normally hang near the city center in well-lit, populated areas, am with a hottie, and try to get my dates back to my place by 1 or 2 AM for some private time unless we go to a club and then back to my place by taxi. I used Absolute taxi to call for taxi a few times since they sometimes have an English speaking dispatcher. If you are with a girl, best to let her call for the taxi, since you might get a better rate if she orders the taxi for you both.

Exchange rate was 25 grivna to the dollar. Do not exchange at the airport, because they will try to gouge you at 24 to 1, but if you need to have some grivna to get to the center, pick your poison. Apartment rental was less than $50 per night just off Baseina Street. I paid with CC for first night and then paid remainder in grivna / dollars. This was a good call because the CC exchange rate on the first night was 21.5 rather than 25 to 1 dollar. When you get to the center search several exchange kiosk to check their rates before you trade in your dollars or Euros. There is a slight difference with a few kiosks compared to others. I had to get a new Life sim card because I learned that if no use on a sim card in 12 months it will not work. Cost for new sim (at cell phone store in Besarabsky Square) was 15 grivna. No wonder all these girls have several phones to talk because they can set up several Mamba profiles. Hence easy for the agencies to get many numbers. Mongerers beware!

I bought groceries in grocery store in basement of Mandarin Plaza (wine, water, soda, beer, snacks) and it cost less than $10. Great prices!
