Went to LA cafe Saturday afternoon. The place was full on the first floor. Lots of customers and working girls. For the most, I would say about 73% of the girls looked pretty hardcore. But still pretty and doable. Most of the girls were fairly aggressive to the walk ins.

I picked up a cute little chunky muffin top, very cute and friendly. Took her home with me, it took forever to get back. I think there was some kind of fiesta for the weekend. Got back home and she did what ever I wanted. I gave her 3 k at the end of the night, she did not ask for anything up front.

I did learn that some of the girls like to smoke meth, "shabu" and from what I have read it is a life sentence for possession in PI. Something to be aware of.

PI is great because of the language and the acceptance of mixed couples. I rarely post here because it is like shooting fish in a barrel.

[/QUOTE]Since you posted this in the Manila thread I presume you're asking for MM. The good news is there's not a lot to see. Certainly Intramuros is worth a tour. I'd skip the calesa (horse-drawn carriage) as they are expensive. Inside Intramuros are churches, some small museums / exhibits, and even an antique shop or two. Mapua University is there, and though itself isn't remarkable there is the famous Manang's Chicken carinderia. Nearby is Rizal Park, which has Japanese and Chinese gardens. Bionondo is the world's oldest Chinatown. It's a real, living Chinatown and not a tourist-trap Chinatown. Divisoria shopping mall is here. Lunar New Year is coming soon and with it is the parade and festival there. Beware the pick pockets. There's a very good tour guide named Carlos Celdran, and he does walking tours of various areas, http: // celdrantours (dot) blog spot (dot) com, and on his website is a list of all kinds of other guides in Metro Manila and a few places in the rest of the Philippines. Malacanang Palace. In Escolta St, once the city's premier commercial street, there are several historic classical and art deco buildings, and the first 'skyscrapers', but they're in various states, from being renovated to dilapidated. The university belt district is worth a look, especially UST (University of Santo Tomas) and FEU (Far Eastern University) if you like colonial Spanish and art deco architecture. If you like corals and tropical fish the aquarium at the Ocean Park / H2O hotel is good for a few-hour visit, and the night time laser fountain water show is enjoyable. Then there's the malls and what not.

When I worked there I took a group of 22 staff to Corregidor. All were from Manila. None had ever been to Corregidor and most didn't know anything about its 1939- 1945 history which for many is fascinating. Definately an interesting place to see but its generally a full day trip.

As an quite unintersting country, which I find Phils, I must say you guys went the extra length to explore this city of which we call Manila (realy a short name from all the areas / small cities within its new city limits). You allways give solid advices for nubes to follow. You are great posters and don't allways post shit like I do I guess its room for everyones woice inside forum such as this.

Corregidor is one of the most interesting places I have been to in the world.

A MUST for every Manila visitor. Largely overlooked by tourists.

The cheap Indian travelers on package tours started going to BKK and other far-east countries in early 90's who have done most of the damage. They came in groups wearing sports shoes and baggy shirts. They will go to Go-go bars in Soi Cowboy, buy one beer between 4 people and watch topless girls. They were smelly, rude and came from lower class of Indians who could not afford to go to Switzerland on holiday. The affluents and well educated Indians were well respected in Europe especially in Switzerland so much so that locals opened Indian restaurants on Mount Titlis.

Now in BKK the bars make non-farangs to buy a bottle of beer minimum for entry. My advise to Indians is be generous in bars, buy few drinks for the girls sitting nearby, be respectful to women, tip the waitresses well and then you see how things change around you! You need the pay little more to compensate for the sins committed by others.

Did not realize that there were so many students of history and historical aficionados on this section of the board. Yes, the history is PI and the rest of Asia is actually quite interesting, but I find few ladies interested in such pursuits, outside of novelized versions.

In China, I was told, there is a stringent licensing and historical China fact testing regiment for tour guides. They passed my test. In some places you can find tours offered by university professors for those interested in more intellectual pursuits. For the rest of us, the tour desk at the hotel or Gray Line is sufficient. Fodors and LP will have more than enough information for most travellers. Some cities and museums now have tour mobile apps.

FWIW, going native with a SYT / WG back to her village is an eye opening experience. Just make sure you have all your shots and more. Also, ignorance of local historical facts and not visiting local tourist sites in not unique to Manila. Many New Yorkers have never been to the Statue of Liberty, unless it was part of a mandatory school trip.

Take a tour of the home of Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the Philippines, in Cavite. Your ladies will be so impressed when you convince the tour guide to show you the hidden passages and stairways he used to hide and spy on his guests. You will also see the entrance to a a hidden tunnel that was there for him to escape to a church several hundred meters away. Unfortunately the tunnel is closed due to disrepair.

It was actually very cool. I felt like a ten year old kid again exploring and climbing through those passages looking through eye holes in the wall he used to watch his guests, and seeing the old original medicine bottles in the hidden bathrooms.

Recently got back from my first extended trip (2 weeks) to the PI. I spent about 4-5 days in Manila, and the rest seeing other parts of the country. During that time, me and a couple of friends visited the common sites P. Burgos, EDSA complex, Greenbelt 3/ Havana Caf Area, and LA Caf. Although I don't have as much experience as many of the more longstanding members of this PI discussion group, I thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I generally don't talk about individual encounters. Chemistry with women, and their skills, is far too variable. One report does not reflect on what the next guy may experience, even with the same girl. I also don't like writing blow for blow soft core porn. No disrespect to those who do. Sometimes I have fun reading that stuff too. I just don't like writing it. I try to provide descriptive info on the venues and the vibe. Things that I would want to know while planning my first visit. That's my take.

P. Burgos is a short street in the northeast corner of Makati that acts as a red-light district. There are a total of about 8-10 girly bars either on P. Burgos or just off it, in the same style as Soi Cowboy type clubs. My personal favorites were Plan be and Kojax. Plan be has the best layout (plenty of comfortable niches to sit or stand with a good view of the stage), blasting aircon, clean with no weird smells, relatively cheap 100 pesos beers, good music (a strong lean towards hip hop and surprisingly good choice in music) and overall the prettiest girls (but by a small margin). Bar fines are still too high IMHO, but the best place to knock back a few beers and enjoy the view. As long as you keep buying booze, the managers and staff don't bother you.

I read a few favorable reviews of Kojax, which is slightly off the main street. The recommendations were spot on. It's up a set of stairs and looks like a dive place from the outside, but go on in. It's a nice club, with girls that are just a notch below Plan be but still attractive. Best of all, bar fines here are more reasonable and negotiable. My friend bargained down an initial quote of 2500 plus LD down to 2000 plus LD. Still high, but acceptable if you like the girl, and he picked a cutey. Once you check out the other clubs on P. Burgos, you will realize that the combo of cute girls and more realistic bar fines is hard to find in this neighborhood.

Bottoms is the most expensive club, and anchor of the whole P. Burgos Street. Everything is expensive there, including the famous 3900 bar fine. Whatever. The girls here were no better looking than Plan be, and the layout of the club isn't nearly as good. The music tended more toward electronica. Walk in, take a look, then head to Plan be. The rest of the bars on P. Burgos, IMHO, were completely forgettable.

As others have described, EDSA Complex is a small strip-mall reconstructed into a complex of about 5-6 girly bars. It's in the adjacent neighborhood called Pasay, and on the main thoroughfare street called EDSA. My choice for the best bar here would be PitStop. The girls here rate below Plan be but above Kojax. And of course, the bar fines are a more reasonable 1950. The clubs here aren't quite as nice as those in Makati, but the vibe is more relaxed. IMHO EDSA is the best if you are seriously looking to hookup.

The downside is that it is in the middle of nowhere. Pasay is not a walk able area. EDSA Street is a main traffic thoroughfare with absolutely nothing of interest on it just a never ending logjam of cars belching carbon monoxide. The area is older, dirtier, and stinkier. No nice cafes to stop into and maybe meet people. Just Mall of Asia, which is a not so close 20 minute walk west. It's a blah mall notable only for the fact that you can see IMAX movies here for cheap. There is also Baclaran flea market about 10 minutes walk south, which is good if you want to find cheap bootleg shoes, t-shirts, etc.

If your trip is long enough, my advice would be to sample both. The thing to know about Manila is that traffic congestion is really bad. A taxi ride from EDSA to P. Burgos at 11 pm took us 45 minutes. That's for a distance of about 2-3 miles. It helps a lot to be situated near whatever you want to do. If you are travelling the country, there is a chance that you may be in a situation where you fly out early in the morning and are trying to get to the airport during rush hour. Take that opportunity to sample it. The Heritage hotel is nice and about a 10 minute walk to EDSA.

But if you have to choose, bite the bullet and stay in Makati, the higher end neighborhood. The streets are wider and cleaner; all the buildings are more modern. Parts of it are very walk able, with cafes and far more choices for nice restaurants. Plus you are close to Greenbelt Mall, what many consider to be the best mall for picking up. On Saturdays, there is a food / farmers market called Salcedo food market, at which I had the best meal I had in the entire PI hands down.

If you have heard about Greenbelt Mall, the situation is this. There is an outdoor section of Greenbelt 3 mall with a large restobar and patio called Havana Caf. There is a Starbucks just next to it, and a smaller wine bar on the other side of it. Together, they form this little outdoor enclave that, apparently, is a big freelancer pickup spot. I visited this area solo, at about 11 pm and was not impressed. You definitely see girls in groups of 2 or 3, sitting at various tables with wandering eyes. Clearly on the hunt. Most of the women I thought were a little older. But the majority of the area is filled with regular mall goers, so it makes for an awkward scene. Plus Havana Caf is really expensive. Personally, I didn't see what all the fuss is about. Expensive people-watching real estate with little to see, and the potentially embarrassing situation of trying to pick up a woman who is not a GRO. Plus, you bypass the screening efforts that clubs on P. Burgos and EDSA provide. I nursed one drink for a while, then left. If you are curious, and want to have a nice meal before heading out to P. Burgos, then go for it. Otherwise avoid.

LA Caf is a large dive bar in Ermita not far from Robinson's Mall. Its open 24/7 and packed with slightly older and less attractive girls, but there were a few gems. While I was disappointed by Havana Caf, I was pleasantly surprised by LA Caf. My expectations for it were on the floor, and it was not bad. I stopped by there late afternoon, after finishing sightseeing in Intramuros and walking my way back to Pasay through Ermita. It was nice to walk into a well aircon bar and have a beer or two and something to eat, with some scenery. I did not hookup, but I could see myself do so under different circumstances. If you are staying in Ermita / Malate, I would definitely consider it. Apparently, many tourists stay in Ermita / Malate (I have no earthly idea why), but I wouldn't haul my ass out there just to visit it.

My overall impression of the punting scene in the Manila? Pretty ok, but a little overpriced and overrated. But after spending some time in the PI, I can see WHY it is overrated. Here's the thing. Pinoys are very friendly, fun loving people. Foreigners are thought highly of, especially Americans. And everyone speaks at least some English. The PI has a strong historical relationship with the USA. If you have just a little game, many of the women are very open to meeting and chatting up foreigners. And I am NOT talking about GROs. I am in my late 30's, and I was able to strike up conversations with women that would be clearly out of my league in the USA. I have no doubt that if I lived there for about 6 months, and spent some time in regular nightclubs, that I could find a super hot, serious girlfriend in no time. And there are some seriously hot women there. I can see how expats living in the PI are having a great time. I saw many guys in their 50's and 60's walking around with girlfriends in their 30's. Nothing wrong with that. We are all eventually looking for connections. More power to you.

But the dating scene is different from the punting scene. The punting scene is way overpriced, and the girls who work as GROs in the clubs are a completely different population of women. Many are uneducated country girls or single moms who desperately need to make money. Nothing wrong with that. But I can see how enthusiasm about the dating scene can spill into the punting scene, but the two are just very different.

So go to the PI to check it out. You know you want to. And you have to. Just keep your expectations in check.

And BTW, just one more bit of advice that I HAVE to mention--use the metro. It isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I lived in Manhattan for a few years, and the situation in the train cars was about the same as NYC during rush hour. Uncomfortable, but not THAT bad. It only costs about 20-30 pesos to ride, depending on how far you go. Buy a prepaid fare card and put 100 pesos on it. Having a prepaid card bypasses a LONG line of people buying individual tickets. I have NO idea why locals are buying the individual tickets. The cars themselves were crowded, but no more crowded than NYC at rush hour. It's uncomfortable, but the discomfort is far outweighed by the pleasure of zipping over traffic jams that you can look at in glee. I zipped from Quezon to Pasay in 20 minutes at 4:30 pm rush hour. The same ride in a tax would have taken over an hour.Just beware of pickpockets.

You moved around the city pretty good and have some good advice which I will benefit from.

As for Burgos St we have different favorites and I was curious about the BF your friend paid at Kojax. When I was there a few months ago Kojax's BF was 2,600 p and the lady wanted 3,000 p ST. Short time meaning around 3 hours of bar hopping and screwing. You say your friend negotiated the BF down to 2,000 plus LD, that's surprising. I hope I can negotiate on my next Kojax visit. What did he give the lady as a tip?

On my visits the Kojax dancers blew Plan be out of the water. For me both clubs are comfortable w / similar drink pressure. I liked Plan be and took my Kojax BFs there. The seating and viewing is better at Plan be but Kojax had many more lookers than Plan be IMO. I do understand the bars are constantly moving women here and there. I think Kojax and Plan B are owned by the same person or group.

Bottoms used to be the top bar but the quality there has gone down hill, they have a happy hour (till 7 pm) BF around 2,900 p, I think.

I really like Burgos but the BFs and tips are ridiculous. The FL scene on Burgos St is pretty wild and on my last visit there were a couple of very nice FLers hunting amongst the hordes on Burgos St, 2,000 p I think.
