Could anybody advice on a good dvd shop in BKK? I mean a shop which would have most of the titles you could think of but would sell it at 100 bath or less a piece.
Same question for porn, is there a shop with a lot of choice of japanese porn in BKK?

K. [/QUOTE]There are some guys who sell good quality DVDs on Sukhumvit soi 11, to the right as you exit the soi, just before the stairs up to the BTS. (Go in the direction of Nana.) The quality is good (in my experience) and I think the deal is 100 THB each, or 6 for 500 THB. The guys have good English. Someone will go somewhere to get the titles you select from empty DVD covers, return with everything in less than 5 minutes.
No clue about where to find porn, except that the street vendors also seem to (openly) sell porn DVDs. You could ask the guys who sell you the ordinary DVDs. TTG

K. [/QUOTE]You need to find a vendor who will honestly tell you which ones are "Chat" good standard copies. Because I can speak Thai, they usually will tell me. I buy at Phanthip Plaza or Mah Boon Khrong (same floor as the mobile phones).
I find that street vendors often don't even know which of their DVDs are good quality as they didn't produce them and just the person doing the selling. If you are going to buy off the street I suggest you take your portable player with you to check the quality, and make sure can play the very end scene of the movie.
I don't agree with TimTimGuy on this one.
Porn is difficult because lots of it will be poor quality. Test it before buying too much.
Not sure why you want Japanese porn, but personally, I don't like it.
Better to get free porn on the internet these days, or in Thailand you make your own real porno scenarios with Thai girls rather than just watch video.

At those prices you mentioned, it has to be pirated. In Pantip, many stores offer pirated DVD, including porn. It won't be as open as it was before, but it should be easy to find what you want.
Note: It will be cheaper if you get the DVDs in Phnom Penh. It will cost either $1.30 or $1.50 for each DVD.

You can preview non-porn right there in the shop before you buy. In Panthip the porn touts hang out by the escalators on the 2nd level. Not sure where you went on the ground floor but the shop I go to (same one for a number of years) is 70bt each. Only once did I get a disc that would not work and that is out of many I have bought there over the years. If you walk in the door and sort of follow A&W fast food place which is on the left down that aisle. It is the first small aisle to the left and first stall on the right (maybe only stall on that small Aisle. Was last there 3 weeks ago. For whatever it is worth.

Is Pantip better than MBK? MBK is more that ok but there is some shops in other south-east asian cities where the owner has almost anything you could think of (including older movies) and would be able to order the titles which are not in store (we're still talking about pirated, cheap but good quality dvds). Is it lile that in Pantip?

It is not some dastardly plot by the airline to keep girls in the country, the airline cops a fine from the receiving country if it carries people who do not meet the visa regs and they get caught. Ok, so you need to buy her a rerturn ticket, and when you think about it, that's the safest for the girl, at least she can get home if you dump her.
