Thinking back all I remember clearly, like for sure, is handing her two five hundred baht notes. Forgive the error. In my defence I was trashed almost every day for the 30 days of my vacation and I've been back for about a month now. As for the story it is exactly what I remember happening one fine night in Bangkok. Nana was cursed for me that trip. I'm sure very few gogo girls would accept 1000 for ST, but this one didn't have to. Her mamasan accepted it for her.

In some countries your security maybe compromised or the atm transactions duplicated or triplicated. There is absolutely no recourse generally. It is your word against theirs. They will say you did use your card more times as stated.

Although most transactions nowadays are computerized there are ways some crooks working with the bank can swindle you. Always after a overseas trip, check your credit / debit card statements carefully.

Long Time ago I reserved a room in Sevilla, Spain. Because of the EXPO taking place there they said the charges have to be fully prepaid in order to hold the reservation. I sent them the full money for 7 nights. Low and behold when I landed there with my GF there was no reservation and no record of payment. Fortunbately they had rooms but they did not honor their quote before. I had to pay extra. But since the pre-payment was dome through american express I contacted American express. It took them 6 months to return my money.

So when you are travelling in some countries better take cash and make use of credit / debit card usage minimal.

Also use ATM from reputed International banks rather than some local banks.

Nevertheless precautions are always needed so no unknown girl enters the room with my valuables accessible, for instance. And I am not much into freelancers (although most of them are as safe as your best friend)

Only in a couple of countries (Thailand, Philippines) do I bring cash. I just spent a fabulous 5 days in Bangkok. I don't know where to begin, so let's start with the game plan. I do have a good job now, but these days one just can't take anything for granted, so my travel budget is as if I'm about to lose my job. I visited Soi Cowboy, but I didn't quite like the high pressure to keep buying lady drinks. Especially for girls that invited themselves to my seat. I mostly spent my time at the Beer Garden. There are some nice ladies there, but mostly are either ugly or old. The Beer Garden is like a fishing trip for local house wives. If they're lucky then get to bring home some extra green. First of all, we are truly blessed for the Thai society to allow such behavior. This doesn't happen even in Cambodia. Well, not as widespread anyway. This type of house wives only do short time and they leave around 10pm, so it's a different shift / game after 10pm. I was able to meet a few fine ladies this way. Standard price is 1, 000 baht for ST.

For Beer Garden the point of no return is around midnight when the live band call it quit. If you can't find your lady by then, move on, or return to your hotel for a nap and return after 2am for Nana parking lot. One night I overslept and arrived at the parking lot at 3am! The crowd had disappeared but the sidewalk booze bar was still open, so I sat next to a drunk expat. I just ignored him but I felt sorry for his date and the street musician that tried to make a living off this guy. I wasn't planning on sleeping so I kept drinking slowly and eventually my patience paid off. The waitress selected a girl for me and she was okay looking "6". When we walked back to my hotel I found out she's 22. A bit too young for me but I figure it wasn't going to get better. She has a lady tattooed on her back, but after chatting with her, I discovered that she was actually very sweet and innocent-ish. Standard ST pricing more or less.
