Chiang Mai "breaking news!"(if you can believe it!)
every time i say to myself "gee, i've heard(or seen) it all now!" something comes along that makes me "eat my words!" to whit:

i guess i can die in peace now as nothing in this world can possibly "top" this!
or can it?
excellent report...and I feel your emptiness
Uncle V.,
an excellent report yet again. I've never been to CM, precisely because I suspected things were as you describe them - slow, and a little hit-and-miss. On the other hand, when I am in the mood for a little sight-seeing and interacting with real people, I might just give it a try.
I guess you are back in the States now, suffering the indignity of monogamy. Your reports have been refreshing indeed, and I hope you can find your way back to LOS - for the sake of my reading pleasure, if nothing else.
Many thanks.
Superb report, Uncle Volodya...
and excellent, intuitive observation, Kumbu!
...you describe them - slow, and a little hit-and-miss. On the other hand, when I am in the mood for a little sight-seeing and interacting with real people
My thought on Chiang Mai when I was there, was that the people were extremely friendly and helpful and that I had really discovered why Thailand is, sometimes, called "The Land of Smiles"(a/k/a the real Thailand!)...as you wrote, Kumbu, real people "echoes" my sentiments, exactly!
Unfortunately, I quickly learned that the biggest "downside" of Chiang Mai is the local girls/women, especially from the "university crowd"(who, IMO, couldn"t have looked cuter dressed in their white blouse/navy skirt school uniforms!) are, generally, anti-falang and even speaking to a falang is a "societal stigma"!(the perception is we are the "sum total" of how we conduct ourselves in Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Patpong, Pattaya, etc.!)
But, as I will be moving there in a few weeks, I look forward to conduct myself in a way that will attempt to "deflect" this perception!
