Patong Beach is the most happening place in Phuket for monggering. The beach is ok, the night life is great.
If it's your 1st trip to Phuket, that would be the place to be for ladies and some diving etc. Visit all the other beaches during the day and if you like for example Kata then you can always transfer to a room there later.

PS : Yes, Peak Season charges are higher than the norm but only for the stunners.

What are the best upscale hotels in Phuket that are GF? I am planning a trip in March and want to be comfortable but still monger in style!
Thanks in advance
Jac
When you've found "the one", how detailed should one be--all the while being respectful?
Guys,
I suggest you all read a few pages of reports in this thread before you coe to Phuket. The info would be very useful. Take some short notes, or key into your mobile phones the main points. I tell you, it really helps, so we dont get screwed on prices etc.
Yes, March should be fine. Prices for ST would range from 500 to 1000 bahts and LT 1000 to 1500 bahts. If you dont get quoted these rates, just try and try again, I am sure you will hit the right one. 2000 LT for stunners are also not unheard of.
Most of Patong's top range hotels may not be so girl friendly. As these hotels cater to the married and family crowd. But so long as you book in advance and mention its a double, and also check in advance the rates in the event you bring back a girl, you should be alrite.

By the way, Ice, why did you put an s at stunner? Ah!Ah!
As concerns upscale GF hotel, I agree there are probably only few ones. I would not be so sure that booking a double would solve this problem (unless you bring your TGF to check-in with you and stay only with her).
Always ask them by mail or fax if there is a joiner fee and how much. In case of doubt never prepay your whole staying and choose a booking option where you only risk one night charge and can change hotel the next day.
Finding a nice guest friendly place to stay in Patong is not easy. I'm talking about higher end places with a pool, close to the action. Something a bit nicer than Salathai. I don't want to walk for 30 minutes, rent anything, and don't feel like giving those tuk-tuk bastards my business. I emailed Burasari and they answered they were guest friendly, but then I did a search on-line and found a review stating they charge 1000b joiner fee. I don't want the hassle of having to flank in. Does anyone know? Planning to skip Pattaya and do BKK and Phuket 50/50.

Both were GF with no joiner fee. Don't know Salathai so can't compare. I also stayed at Tropica Bungalow who had no joiner fee at the time, but had a notice that they were starting to charge in late 2007.

Thanks Paul. Will check those places out. I was wondering if anyone stayed in Burasari recently.
I am staying at Salathai on my trip in March because I have seen reports that it is GF. It isn't a mega large impersonal hotel. Has pool and pleasant looking rooms and is only one road down from Bangla. I'm paying 2600 THB for a superior room via sawadee.
Hi Guys,
Ive stayed at the Salathai and there were no problems and no joining fee!
It would always pay to ask the question when you are making a booking
Hope to be in Phuket sometime this year
