Just wanted to say my post wasn't meant to infer that I think you're a cop or anything, and wasn't trying to suggest that no one should give you the address or anything. Sorry for the confusion. Your post just prompted me to think about this whole issue of giving clues out. I was wondering what others think, it seems weird that it is based on the premise the punter can work out the clue and the cop won't, I thought that was the cop's speciality, uncovering all the clues!

These places want our dollars and they often advertise so it is good to share information about where they are and the (lack of) quality of the service.

Tips are better than the actual address because it increases the uncertainty about which place is being talked about. That way it might make our posts a bit harder for council private investigators to use as evidence that these places function illegally. For example I could say I received a great happy ending at the massage place in Bourke street Melbourne. Or I could say "Donna" at the massage place above Hungry Jacks on the corner of Bourke and Russell gave me a great HJ. For mine the more direct one has more potential for trouble for them.

In any case. I don't think this forum is the main place for council PI's getting the low down on these places.

Thanks to all those people who have given great tips on massage places. I hope they keep coming and the clues are not too hard to work out.

I have never paid for anything other than a massage at these places. The few times I have had a bit of extra joy I think it was a lucky break.

I think I see your point. I didn't think about things from an evidence point of view, yeah our clues couldn't be really used as evidence. As far as investigators finding the place goes though I am sure it would be quite simple sometimes, just as we all manage to track down the places from the clues we read here. I am guessing most places get shut down because of neighbours complaining anyway? So maybe this system of giving clues is good after all. Maybe the investigations get iniated by compaints from nearby residents and then they might search around forums like this for evidence... As opposed to using these forums to initiate an investigation?

Generally, the operation of an "illegal" massage parlour or brothel is not a police (criminal) matter, but one (a planning matter) for the the local council concerned. It is highly unlikely the police would raid a joint, unless there were other activities involved.

One of the restraints on local councils getting these places closed down is the lack of hard evidence (excuse the pun) of the activities being carried out. An investigator must pretty well have first hand experience (oh, another one) - in Sydney it often needs to be on more than one occasion - before a court would consider making a ruling. I know that in Sydney if a Council is successful in getting a closure order, the business simply changes ownership and the Council must go through the whole procedure again; they quickly lose interest if there are no other mitigating circumstances involved.

Reports from these forums would not be evidence, although they might give clues. But more than likely the places would be advertising elsewhere, and this would probably be more useful as evidence than a possibly over-enthusiastic review from an anonymous monger.

Aussiegaigin is spot on.
At best the forum may provide some assistance in developing a short list, but wouldn’t it make more sense (probably quicker too) to spend half a day on the telephone & ring the numbers in the classifieds.
