Cartagena Reports

Thank you and to everyone else that has contributed I've did most of the stuff you mentioned already except got laid there. The food is good in that country I might probably just stick to vacationing there with my wife and friends instead mongering there.

There are other cities that caters more towards locals, but Spanish is a is a plus for those less touristy places.

I noticed that the rates vary a lot depending on the place, time, and modality on where you meet the girls in Cartagena.

I had better luck at Santa Cattaleya, I am not a fan of Omnia although went there twice as well. The places above I also went to Androgeno aka Delirium, I am not a big fan of but I was hanging out with some guys that wanted to check out a hip-hop club.

I learned that the best deals you'd get on slow days and really late near closing time or past midnight. Buying drinks 1-2 drinks for a girl may help to get you a better deal if you speak Spanish.

I thought prices for just beers were exorbitant as they were charging anywhere between COP 20-25 k for a can of beer.

I had a couple of drinks with a 8 Blonde and her friend just to talk while my buddy was in the hunt talking to another girl at a table, I asked her about pricing and stuff related the business. She mentioned that the best deals you'd get really late on slow days (low season and Mondays-Wednesdays), and specially near end of the month as they need to pay rent and bills, most of these girls are from other cities and they need to pay for a room to stay in Cartagena.

I've been coming to Cartagena for the last 6 years. I've got to say it's now turned into the worst experience one could imagine. Absolutely the worst Beach I've ever encountered everything you would not want and getting worse and worse. It's overrun with low-level hustlers. The scene at Hollywood Beach has become so gross, It's hard to come back for words for. The Sosua crowd has attracted the most unfortunate and undesirable to the beach. They will be all over you for money every second. He will not have a minute literally without someone trying to get money from you either nicely or not so nicely. Before warrant.

It's too late. In the last year the scene has gone so far. Downhill that I wouldn't suggest this to anybody not for the beach or not for the clock tower, not for any of it It's a shame.

Try it once to get it out of the way before things become worse.[/QUOTE]I have since moved on from going to Cartagena. It used to be fun. If I want to hit beaches and a good local beach vibe I head to Santa Marta or San Andres. Baru is alright but too close to Cartagena.

Just a quick update on my visit here. I've (had two visits since I got here for both quoting $100 both s with hygienic issues in the form of odors From now on. I'm going to tell him up front if they're not hygienically going home.

I am not sure if it is the time of year, but things are really slow.

Looking to plan my first trip to Cartagena (or Santa Marta) this summer. I have been in Latin America before, but I am finding a hard time finding AirBNBs that are ok with 'visitors'.

When I was in other parts of Columbia, as well as in Mexico and other places, this was never an issue. But seems to be an issue, especially in Cartagena.

Does anyone know if Murano Central is OK with guests? It looks pretty nice, is a bit north of the walled city but not too far (I like to not be right in the middle of the action as I like to relax and have my space).

Curious if anyone can provide some info and possibly some advice.

OZ hotels, down by the beach, are guest friendly and no chica charge, per friends of mine who stayed there in January.

I stayed at Soy Local Centro Historico (right in the middle of all the action) and it was decent enough (smelled like Fabuloso cleaner, which can be overpowering), and they also were zero chica fees.

As for Airbnbs, there are some, I just don't have any links or personal knowledge of them.

Best of luck. I personally enjoyed CTG for a long weekend. Not sure I could handle more than 3 nights there without getting burned out, but 2-3 nights is near perfect.

Normally when most countries scam you it tends to be by no hire than a $20 overcharge. My last visit there a tourist got charge $400 for a 3 girl massage with the other 2 joining in without his permission. A guy tired to sell me $45 for some basic sandals which I didn't buy.
