My favorite haunts were CJ's, then BATS, and Top Gun.

Near the end of my stay, I discovered Maribaya Spa in Hotel Melawi thanks to posts by Koperen Klaas. At the time there were a fair amount of negative posts about the place but it suited me well and I always enjoyed it. Low key, small, decent looking girls, excellent service, GFE attitude, BBBJ & a fair price at 600 k. I made maybe 6 visits and loved every one.

I would go there for fun in the afternoon (Arti) or early evening (Ani) before the evening began at 10 pm at CJ's or BAT'S. I like to get there early and get a good seat near the entry door to peruse the talent walking in.

I was sad to learn of the demise or Maribaya a few years ago.

I've never been to Classic, Travel, Starmoon, 1001, MTR2, Kings Cross, Malio, Malioboro etc - so I can only imagine what those places are like based on the descriptions here.

I have spent weeks perusing the forum, in part, searching for a replacement for Maribaya. I do not like huge meat markets where there is mostly perfunctory or starfish performance - which seems to be places like Classic or Travel. A GFE attitude and personality tops my list. I don't need stunners and can always find a girl who I think is pretty. I go more for the "girl next door" look anyway.

I have a 10 hour layover on the way to Raja Ampat and have booked a room at the Bandara Orchardz hotel outside of the airport. The spa on the 5th floor looks like it will suit my needs after a long flight with a massage and some release. Are you allowed to choose the girl you want or is it a next in line thing. You won't find a place that has girls who provide great BJs and sex like those girls did. You also won't find a place with such a laid back atmosphere where you can sit and enjoy a beer in relative peace before selecting a girl. Yes, the girls there were not very attractive after 2009, but prior to that there were some very nice girls working there. Late 90's and early 2000's it rocked. Even at the end when the girls were not as young and attractive as in the glory years at Maribaya, I would still go there on occasion simply because the service was so far superior to anywhere else in town. Of course, the rooms at Maribaya sucked and they never renovated them much. Like Koperan, I also had some of the Maribaya girls come to visit me at my place on occasion. I probably had about 10 Maribaya girls come to my place over the years. I think both Koperan and I had Shela come to visit us many times. LOL. Shela was always rotating between working Top Gun and working Maribaya, she could never make up her mind. I believe the guys who used to complain on this forum about Maribaya are guys who walked in there and saw the girls were older than 20 years old so they never even tried it. They don't know what they were missing.

Even though Maribaya is gone, any of the other places you mentioned do have BBBJ and will provide decent service. Hotel Classic and Hotel Travel must have been losing business because the girls there now do not demand condoms anymore and they are providing much better service than before. If you enjoyed Maribaya, you may want to try Kartika. You don't hear much about that place here, but it also has girls who are older that provide good service like the Maribaya girls. I suggest you try a few different places and figure out which you like best. You already have the list.

I suggest going to Classic / Travel after 6-6:30 pm and before 10 pm (Sunday is a bust as many girls are not working at those two establishments). After 10 pm, majority of the girls are taken and room do not get clean as much. For BBBJ, I found that girls at Travel are more willing to comply with the request.

OS was cruising around Jakarta in a car one night after a meal with my wife and some local friends. This is OS's real wife who has always claimed to want to go to a bar and sing dangdut, and she can sing!. We shall call her lady OS in deference to her social standing.

We get there and they are all pretty apprehensive about the location. The Ambonese outside had them on edge.

OS thought it was great but my local friends were having none of that and couldn't wait to get out of there. So we down one beer each and hot tail it back to the car which some woman has attached herself to as our new found security. We all stink of cigarette smoke.

After this experience, OS has had to accept that his true love seems reluctant to perform in the seedy dives that are the heartland of the dangdut genre and that she may just be a bathroom star, never to be at Cafe Asmora with every gangster and cowboy in town cheering on.

But OS thinks he could probably quite enjoy a night there snuggled up to some middle aged fattie, or the YYY bar, or the Priok bars. You just get hazy and enjoy.

Thanks for the pics and time travel. I was never there prior to working on Java in 2014. The rooms look the same, but the lounge area (in 2014) usually only had 5 or 6 girls. But I found 2 or 3 I really liked and stuck with them. I also had Rita over to my hotel once (and videotaped the encounter).

I visited M. O. Bar back in 2014 several times on lady's night. The girl's drinks are free so that is at least partial motivation for the girls to come. It was never overly crowded, tho I did go earlier in the evening, but I did meet a few nice ladies that made the stop worthwhile.

I haven't read anything in the last 100 pages about Mandarin Oriental (other than Gekko's taxi dilemma).

Hotel Classic doesn't bother me, especially classic bunker on the ground floor. That's a good spot to visit. Bunker is not only a nicer environment to hang out, it's the cheapest place in town for that type of action. It's only 330 k. I prefer King Cross and Malioboro simply because the environment is much nicer due to them charging a cover that keeps the lower class locals out, but classic bunker is the best value for money in Jakarta in my opinion.
