They love nothing more than to calculate the best way to go from A to be, it's an actual hobby people take pride in (it rubbed off on me even). You can use google maps which is very good, but there are a few limits. It is still at least way better than an average local.

Trainmaster > Google Maps > Average Japanese person > Random tourist. I would not rely on the average person (local or tourist) to help you except as last resort. Japanese stations tend to have detailed and accurate maps. Sometimes there is a bigger map for context. If you see on the bigger map that you want exit 1 c for example, look for it on the local map and as you walk the station. If you see 1 b or 1 d, there is a good chance 1 c is close by but it's not always obvious. And to be clear, there is a reason 1 b and 1 d exist and if you take them when you need 1 c you'll add 1-5 minutes (crossing an intersection, or worse).

Cherry blossom season is a good time and good weather. There will be crowds at the peak and more tourists, but during business hours it isn't too bad.

TAE price what you see is what you get, because the price you see is higher than the price on the Japanese website for the same company. So the tax is built in.

Gingira has different price for foreign and local too.

If you don't speak Japanese most places will be charging you more. It's not really something to worry about, you pay the price they give you and you get the service. There's nothing hidden or rip off IMO, because it's a known thing.
