For a little adventure, I wanted to go to Vietnam taking the "shortest route" from Khon Kaen, so the town of Mukdahan was the logical route. From there, there are quite frequent buses, last one leaves at 6. 30 pm, arriving well after 10pm, cost 170 Bt.
At that time, all the area around the bus station is sound asleep. No taxi bikes, nothing. I took a room at the station's Hotel, that is perfectly equipped, for 400 B. Then to go to the Tower I had to find something. The guard at the hotel points to his bike. Suggesting that "I go 7". No better options available, I took the bike, of of these semi-manual gear. All good except no front brake and I had no idea where I was going. Fortunately there a very clear signs, basically drive down until the traffic light, make a right, keep going and the tower is on you left inside surrounded by the small karaoke / brothels. There is a bigger beer / pub place, but it was empty so I did go to check out the girls, of which there are quite a few. To be honest, some are quie attractive. I sit with one, a petite of beautiful face, We have an Heinken at the cost of Bt. 240, god knows why there where three items in the bill, but she wanted me to double check it to make sure it was correct. Anyway the opening offer for going to my hotel was Bt 1, 500, I counter with 1, 000 but that didn't worked out and after a moment she was nowhere to seen after a while. I guess that me riding a '97 Honda Dream 110 did not helped my image. I check out few other places, there have Thai boysgetting in the middle of negotiation, but they are not really aggressive.
The best I could was to get very cute another petite for Bt 1, 200, of which 700 paid in advance, to her directly. She jumps on and I try to find my way back. Amazing Thailand, there is always a 7-Eleven open to buy condoms and other small stuff, she only wanted chewing-gums.
At the hotel, I was past due the promised return time with the guard, he indicates another 100 Bt on the top of the 100 agreed. I tell him mai pen lai as I have to take care of the lady more urgently.
In the room, not having the exact change, I sense that I was about to give away another 300 Bt for no reason, to avoid that I go down again and get change from the receptions. No problem.
The girl was cute but that was it, sure I did not expect a lot, no BBJ, mechanical, no this no that, started the 'jep' when doggy after 2 minutes. Og well, I had worse. I did my thing anyway.
I tell here that she can call someone to be picked up. She asks for money. I tell her she had already 100 Bt above the agreed price. End of discussion, she asks if she can take the gum, takes the door and not even close it. I've always found that interesting. Probably it has a deep meaning.
Anyway, I get a good sleep, then I'm to Laos via the International bus. 45 Bt from same station. But that's another story.
I am usually critical of those who post here asking basic questions but I am going to be guilty for once:
Hua Hin. Enough local talent that speaks reasonable English or bring one's own?
Hotels. On the beach, girl friendly and moderately large (100 rooms) , near any bar action?
Travel. Air from BKK or train?
Local transport. Tuk tuks?
Anywhere 'better? ' . I did Pattaya 30 years ago (and yes it was a blast) and Phuket when it was a quiet 2/3 hotel island. Thus want to see if it.
Is possible to find a quiet place but with g / f hotels, some, not in your face night life and a beach.
I live in Hua Hin. Men don't come here to monger, they monger because they came here for some other reason such as golf.

Enough speak English well enough. Would be surprising if that wasn't true, given the average age of the bar girls.

Hilton is the only large hotel on the beach adjacent to the bar district. I've read in the local forum it's not girl friendly, but never tried it.
- Travel. Air from BKK or train?
No commercial air from BKK. Train takes 4. 5+ hours because it goes west before going south. Minivan 2. 5+ hours. If your schedule aligns perfectly you can take the Dusit Sprinter:

That Info is out of date. They have one a day now. Taxi is about 2k thb from BKK. Ask on HuaHinForum. Com for current details. I make the trip using minivans and prayer.

Plus moto taxi. 2 songthew routes the don't go within 200 yards of the bar district,"taxis" that are mostly interested in being booked for day trips, and the occasional real taxi from somewhere else who's picking up fares before heading home.

I have read enough to know that it is probably a 'bring your own' resort but after three weeks of Bangkok maybe all I will want is a S / T or a good MP session.
Not being a mongering place I guess there is not much information available.

I've heard and read the girls like the Hilton's disco, but I've never been.
If one is willing to settle on a BG who is wet, willing and able, there are about 50 to 75 to choose from on any given night, counting both Bintabat and soi 80. If you want young and or pretty, the odds are better if you bring your own.
