General Info

Yes, this place has provided good service to X Man, but they were impeded by the crappy service that is offerred elsewhere in PI. I needed a crown, got good service, and later bad service, but only because... YOU SHOULD EXPECT THINGS TO BE LATE IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!

Kind of nice the dentist gave me and her hot assistant a ride back late into the night, since it took several hours for my crown to get a good fit. Dentist was nothing I would kick out of be for eating crackers either.

Actually, that's not quite true. One of the conundrums, for me at least, of living here is why the medical care is third-rate but the dental care is excellent. My dentist, for example, received a large part of his training in the US, and his office is as modern as anything you would find in my hometown. He work too, is excellent and the price is about 20% of what you would pay in the US. Of course this is in Davao, and I have no names of good dentists in Manila or AC.

I used a Dr. Reyes who had a clinic in Makati several years ago when I lived in Manila. Excellent service by a US trained dentist. No idea if he is still there.

Hey. Thanks to all of you who provided feedback to my request of a recommended dentist in AC or Manila.

I will definitely check out all the suggestions given. As for going to Thailand rather than PI. This is my take.

Yes, I agree that both the service and quality of work is 1st rate in Thailand (I had sought medical attention in LOS in the past) at a fraction of the cost to either the US or Canada. But after doing my homework and researching about medical and dental work in PI, I found that many people (including some of you fellow 'hunters') who have had work done in PI were very satisfied with the service and the quality. And here's the kicker, prices are about another 10-20% cheaper than Thailand. And you know what that means, even more $$$ for 'hunting' (he he he).

I was originally thinking about going to Thailand to get dental work, but I really want to visit PI (the reason is obvious. He he), AND I can save even more $$$ and still get high quality of work.

So. Unless someone can make a fair comparison btw dental work done in Thailand vs. PI, and put Thailand far better than PI in quality and cost, I will most likely see myself heading to PI at the end of the year for some 'fun'.

Looking forward to any additional feedback.

GoodEnough, I did send you a pm last year but never got a reply I will be in Davao in a few months time and want to get some work done. I'd be interested in any dentists you could recommend if you are inclined.

If you don't already know it, Dragonslayer's thread has info about Davao and GE often posts there. I write this, because if you look at the main board it appears that no one is posting there.

Have you already emailed the Davao dentist? Did you get a quote for a crown? I think I paid 3500 or 4000 when I was in AC.

BTW, I'll probably be in Davao around the New Year.

I would concentrate on the normal hobbyist action there. A friend of mine was a teacher there from the US and didn't mix biz with pleasure.

In cebu, there are 2 drug stores in ayala. The one that has more than just a pharma counter (forget if that is mercury or the other) will sell you V with no prescription and is the real thing. Have done it many times. I'm fairly young, don't know if that makes a difference.

Thanks X Man, I follow everything I can on Davao so I am aware and I find the information coming from those two exceptional characters very helpful as well as your own contribution. I can't contribute much because I'm not there yet. I was just going with the flow of this thread taking the opportunity as it presented itself. That Website states they don't give quotes until they have seen the damage.

I had planned on being in Davao earlier this year but got caught up in an acrimonious divorce settlement and couldn't leave the country for fear of being evicted while I was away. Once the dust settles I plan on being there sometime from February to April next year unless everything is signed before then.

Even if the original quoter sticks to "friends" of students, the "friends" will talk with each other, and then tell their friends...and the friends of friends... and eventually the whole school knows. I have a friend who teaches uni. After a party, two students announced that they had missed the last train. He put them up in an extra room. Two days later he was called into the dean's office.

Long time lurker here, first off- thanks to everyone here for all the great info. It's helped me more times than I can count.

I'll be in Manila the weekend of November 16th (staying on Burgos that weekend.) I've also been in contact with a CB girl who wants to meet up- smoking hot, as she's sent me many pictures, 23 yrs old, etc.

I've RTFF on CB encounters, but wanted to get some opinions on one thing- What are the honest odds of fucking this girl? I'm decent looking, no problems there, but really when you talk to a CB girl over email, they're all looking for love, blah blah.

Honestly- in your experience, do they all fuck? If so, how quickly? How have you suggested / approached the subject? Idea for first meeting?

BTW- I plan on bringing back plenty of photos for posting and sharing, as it's my turn to return the favor.

GE[/QUOTE]Well, if we are talking US trained then that is a whole different thing. If we are talking Philippine schools then you will need to look high and low. I am in the health field and have seen enough to make me pause. Most of my friends live there and have had hit and miss issues. Quality of fillings and especially bridge work and crowns can fall short. Of course, a lot of that is money driven seeing as how the locals more often than not get inferior work as compared to ex-pats who can be charged more. Still wouldn't hold my breath on that as what are you going to do when 2 years later your jaw is sore because the bridge fit was poor and it finally caught up to you.
