I was in Bangkok and Phuket last year for the festival, their version of Mardi Gras. At first it was very strange, but once you get into the spirit and wear the appropriate clothes, I had a blast meeting many people. In Bangkok the Hollywood disco was crazy with locals. In Phuket it makes very little difference monger-wise, just bring a good attitude like always.
Salathai told me directly today that there's no joiner fee.

I will be in Phuket the second week of March and need some suggestions to help me fill the non diving hours. I am giving myself a little birthday junket and hope to fill out my dive program with high end mongering. I have been watching this forum for a short time trying to determine how best to meet my requirements on that end.
My specs are as follows;
Find a local lovely that I can keep overnight (or several days if that worked out).
How would I best accomplish this? I do not drink and from what I have seen of the bar scene videos I would not be to comfortable there. I have only heard of one soapy (Christian's) and those reports have not been very encouraging. Cost is not an issue here so what is my best approach?
Any auggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

can anybody advice me the best way/cheapest way - by air I guess - to get to phuket from Bangkok - and how much the price is.
Also if somebody has some good advice on good deal hotels - 4 stars or so - with balcony and sea view - and not too far from night life action.

First of all you don't have to drink alcohol in the bar if you don't want to, drink Coke or bottled water. I don't know what about the bar scene makes you uncomfortable but there are a lot of bars in the Bangla Rd area, I'm sure you can find something 'comfortable', go early if you don't like the crowds.
Christy's isn't recommended but there are a lot of small massage places in Patong, you'll see the girls standing outside beckoning customers, most of these places offer extras and I would assume you can make a deal to take the girl to your hotel.
If you don't like either of those suggestions, there are plenty of girls on the streets at night along Beach Rd and Bangla Rd especially after the bars close, so you can pick up a girl easily without spending any time in a bar if you don't want to. Just be careful you get one that's really a girl, lot's of katoeys in Patong.
Also make sure your hotel allows unregistered guests, some don't or will charge you extra, but cost is not an issue right?

Air Asia and Nok Air are very cheap discount air carriers. Use google and book online.
One-Two-Go also is cheap but they're the ones that crashed and burned at Phuket last September, killing 89 people.

Their web page has pleanty of cheapfares all depends on the day and time.

I am hoping to connect much eariler in the evening, say 6 or 7 pm and avoid the busy bar action completely so where is the best spot or doing that? After the bars close is a bit too late for this old monger!

Hi Guys,
I did the RTFF thing and I am stuck between deciding to stay in 2 different hotels and I need your help.
I will be in Phuket between the 3rd and the 18th of April. I got 2 quotes from GF hotels in Patong that are in my budget but in the Forum both are well reviewed and ell liked.
I could stay at the C&N or the Summer Breeze. I think the C&N is bigger but I am looking for good service as well. Since both are GF and close to Bangla Rd I’m ok on that part so I need from all of you: your thought and experience so that I’ll be choosing the best overall hotel.

I would say Bangla Rd, but it really doesn't have much action that early although there are always girls around.
