I've been reading up on this thread but I must say there are not as many posts as one would expect. I'm not sure what the reason for that is but it might bee the complicated manner of getting a Russian visa. At this moment I have all the necessary paperwork but I still have to go to the consulate in the middle of a working day to turn in the papers and my passport and then do the same a week ater to get the passport with the visa back. That is losing 2 work days just messing aroound with the visa, since they won't let you send it in. I think next time I'll try Kiev to avoid all the hassle. This is my first time there though so if I have a really good time it might be worth the hassle.
The mongering scene seems to be a hassle as well. There are clubs that have different locations and that might or might not let you in. Also you do not know which girl is where. Seems pretty complex for some poonani.
I have the drawbridge schedule but I do not know all the bridges so basically I have to be on the right side of the river after 02:00.
There are a few questions I was hoping to get answered. I really hope my hotel does not have any objections to having some girls over or that will ruin it a lot for me.

3. Marstals, Magrib and Tribunal bar late at night (after 1am) are great places to find pros and non-pros (but some of the working women have been there for several years. I saw a woman I took home 4 years before still at Marstals)
4. Never pay more than $150 for the WHOLE NIGHT with ANY girl you meet at a bar. (You need to see the more recent posts for the current FAIR rates and don't screw it up for everyone else by overpaying)
5. Let the woman do all the talking with your hotel security and be prepared to pay $2-$10 hush money. (Maybe slightly higher now)
6. There are Pros in almost all SPG hotels but they are usually way overpriced. Make sure you agree on all terms with her before you give the hotel mafia / pimp guy any money.
7. You can avoid the whole hotel / security issue by renting an apartment. (The easiest way to register your visa within the first 72 hours as required is to spend just your first night in a hotel)
8. Taxis are cheap, so use them late at night. Remember the police are NOT there to help you! (I also got mugged by 2 cops and lost $300. I did the whole police report thing not expecting to get the money back but so they would have to share, because I gave very, very detailed descriptions of the 2 assholes.)
9. ALWAYS pay attention to the drawbridge schedule late at night (with a safety margin) if you are going to cross the Neva. (Missing the bridges was the originating incident that got me mugged)
10. ATM machines are everywhere and you avoid the risks of carrying a lot of money. You usually get an okay rate and you don't have to deal with the money exchange jerks.

I have found the information on this forum very useful but have noticed that it has not been updated for Pieter for a bit. Therefore I thought I would give something back!
I was in Pieter for a couple of weeks last year (so some of the info maybe out of date but more recent than most) and the following are some of things that I learned:
1. When you arrive at the airport use Taxi group it is a yellow sign with white taxis and costs 700 roubles into the centre. If they are not available look for the other official taxis they will be a bit more expensive but not much. Do not be surprised if the cab fare back to the airport is much more expensive that is unfortunately standard.
2. For anyone who doesn't speak Russian the easiest way to find P4P girls is to go to one of the strip clubs (I went to Maximus at 8 Kirpichniy). Don't go in but go to one of the taxi's waiting outside. They know what guys want when coming out of a strip club. They will hand you a couple of booklets and you can pick the salon and girl you want to go to. They will then drive you there. For this I paid 3000 ruoble an hour rather than the standard 2000 roubles but it got my stay in Pieter off to a good start. I got a very pretty girl (19 yo brunette student 5'6 with medium sized breasts) for this but it was covered oral (which is standard in Pieter) , I am not a back-door man so don't know if this was on offer. At the end the girl gave me her number and although I intended to see again there were too many other experiences for me to re-visit.

5. The other area (as is mentioned frequently on here) is non-working girls.
