East China - Shanghai

Hey guys,

I developed a freebie (actually nothing is free.) by becoming a regular at a really nice place called the Beauty Center at 648 Lao Shan Lu in Pudong. There's at least 5 HE places on either side before you get there from Weifeng Lu, but this one is completely above board. I tried to encourage HE but could NOt get prevail. BUT, Absolutely the BEST legit massage I have ever enjoyed. In my case, #30 does a great back walk and professional massage and I got together with her outside for some reverse massage after a couple of visits. Her English skills are improving and she is extremely responsive outside of work.

Went to G18 recently around 2 pm. The kid on the ground floor confirmed my intention and was whizzed up to the changing room. Selection was disappointing at this early hour. Long-time reader - first time poster etc.

First, I must say that I showed up there at around 3:00 AM. At any rate, after 15 minutes one girl - dressed like perhaps she didn't even work there - showed up. Face 6, body 7. We went to a room and she then asked me if I wanted to go to my room for a massage."OK", I thought, "why not."

Her english skills were limited, but I thought we managed to communicate the particulars. However, she asked only 400 for the massage. Strange. I decided to force the issue and wandered them for her to the area in most need of attention. At which point she explained to me "massage only." So I gave up.

Then, as she was leaving, she asked if I wanted her to come back. She made a funny face, but understood I had said yes, left the room and then returned after about 15 minutes.

She took me to the bed and began to give me another massage! Now I was confused, so I decided to see if I could press things, sat up and began to kiss her neck. She responded very enthusiastically and we ended up having a lovely time together, after which she just left without asking for any kind of compensation.

At this point, I am entirely confused as to what is on offer at the holiday inn. At the very least, there is one average looking girl there who sometimes needs a bit of company at 5:00 am and is an enthusiastic lover.

Considering the number of women at this venue who had the EXACT SAME PHONE, we figure that 60% of the girls at the club were in on the scam. A bottle costs 1500 RMB-2800 RMB in these club don’t buy one.

DO NOT GO TO ANY OF THESE VENUES. A large portion of the women there are covertly in on an elaborate scam to get patrons to purchase tables and drinks. If you see a girl with a square white cell phone she is probably part of the scam, so avoid her!

Of course this is a forum for mongers, but if you’re trying to get girls by picking them up, BEWARE of these venues.

How on earth can you claim 60% of the girls at BBF are in on some 'scam' to get you to return to their club?

First of all, that place is rammed almost 7 nights a week, they do not need to resort to this to get clientele.

Second, it is a predominantly Chinese club and they could care less about laowai's hanging about in there (I am assuming you are a laowai of some sort)

And third, a bottle at BBF is 550 (Chivas and 2 bottles of green tea) - I don't know what the fuck you are drinking for 1,500 to 2,800!!!!

I have been going to BBF, G+ etc for a couple o years now and have never encountered this. The crowd is generally pretty chilled (or drunk, especially the young 'uns who run out around 12. 30am) and the service is usually pretty straightforward sure some of the bar guys can be rather twat like).

I have met many girls at these places (just for fun, drinknig etc, sometimes for freebie fun) and I have never encountered anything like Jademd describes. Can't recall any white cell phones and we always pay the same for "Chivas" and green tea or for beer.

It is fair to say that G+ had for a while at least, a group of girls who worked there. Kind of as drinking companions, but that is a) pretty common in China (is it Sky bar in the New Factories that also does this as does the M2, 3, 4 places). But in G+ they hand(ed) out plastic name cards. So hardly underhand or a scam.

However, looking back at Jademd's other posts he does seem to have a bad time in bars (by the way, Bund 18, you mean LOUNGE 18 in number 18 on the Bund). So, so far, he has locked out all the clubs in Shanghai except Muse and the others in Fuxing Park and Bar Rouge.

Bad luck or something else? I'll put it down to bad luck and a bit of a wind up somewhere by a couple of girls (Chinese girls do like to joke...)

Chaps. If the freebie scene is you cup of tea, or you just like some not too bad clubs with sometimes great, sometimes dire music (as with any club), these are the good ones and much fun can be had. And you can do it at these places without spending a fortune (hell, they have printed menus with prices...)

Nice try buddy. Each bar you mentioned have their own hostesses. It's not a scam, it's your own fault you can't tell who is who from your own inexperience. As pointed out, bottles don't cost 1500RMB. Why you fabricate facts is beyond my understanding. Judging from your posts, it seems you and your buddies have no respect for this country's customs. Go take your shit elsewhere.

For the more respectful crowd, G+ is a good place to be. Drinks are just 80-160RMB. They have a very nice bar area whereas Richy's and BBF gets way too crowded. One thing I dislike about BBF is they don't have a bar section on weekends! They sell it as "spots" that require a bottle purchase. Lame I know but their business is just too good.
