Checked out Mabs again tonight. Although it's better than when I was here in the spring, it's still a cesspool just like Balcony. Same chicks hustling the guys. Seen a few from 4 x4 and other spots hanging out there, but generally most girls are going for about $300 reais and trying to split as soon as possible. Of course some can be talked down to $200 reais or so. I personally don't go out of my way to pickup anything at Mabs, which was pretty much how I felt about Balcony and the later years of Help. The best thing about Mabs other than people watching is you are able to catch the NFL football games for those who are fans.
One troubling thing I do notice at Mabs is the high number of trannies hanging out amongst the girls, especially towards closing time at 3 am. Be careful in that area, some appear to be aggressive, but most just stay to themselves. It seems t like now that Mabs is the spot, instead of just staying on the street or along Prado Jr, they just go there too.
Checked out K Night aka Kalabria (moved to Belfort Roxo from Ronald Carvalho around the corner from Balcony) earlier this week. Entrance was $40 are which includes one or two national drinks (depending who you talk to). More of a after hours spot like the old Kalabria. Suppose to have rooms downstairs to bang, but I didn't partake like I did once at the old Kalabria a few years back. Same Mabs crowd gravitate towards that place, nothing special.
Dolce Vita looks like it's barely hanging on. Everytime I walk by there it appears dead. Hard to say how it is inside of that small place. But I think it's safe to say it's not doing as good as when Balcony was open right below it.
I keep seeing and hearing about Casablanca, which has been there for about the last 4 years I believe, but it doesn't appear to be worth the effort of going in. The one time I considered going in I could tell it was dead and just moved on.

One of my other Brazil veteran mongers told me he still see girls he meet in 1996. Very High Mileage Pussy. For Pay for Play, I would highly recommend the Termas like 4 x 4 much better quality. But if you really want to get The true experience of Brazil I would recommend learning Portuguese. You will see a whole new side of Brazil when you can actually talk to the people (especially the girls). You can check out other spots (Lapa Street Partys) especially and get some really hot Brazilian girls. Some of the best pussy I had in Brazil was (Non-Pros). Be aware that some look better than 70% of the girls, so make sure you do an Adam's apple and hand size check. Most are cool and will tell you what you are getting yourself into rather than trying to deceive you and surprising it on you in the room. However, I do know guys who had that happen and whom from now on we refer to as Crying Game.

I have been living in Rio for almost a month now, and although I have seen alot. There is still alot I have not seen. First and foremost, take taxis everywhere after dark even if it's only a few blocks. Getting robbed here is like a Rite of Passage. I have witnessed two robberies so far, one with a pistol. The beaches are not safe to walk on after dark, especially near Princess Isabel. I was surrounded once by five putas who attempted to pick pocket me, not far from Mabs.
My personal favorite spots are the Termas. You put on your Hugh Hefner robe, and the women make you feel like Brad Pitt. 4 x4 and Centaurus are the two best, and I have been to just about all of them many times now. The massage parlors are much cheaper, but its more of a hit and run scene instead of having a drink, and chatting / groping a bit before the final act. I ran into one girl I met at Terma 65 at a massage parlor in Copa. In other words, the girls change venues often, and one place may suck today, and be the best next week.
I have found the online escorts to be fun. Alot of them are sweet, non pro type. The websites are in Portuguese of course.
I have been to many of the Night Clubs also. Barberella is by far the best, hands down. The woman are all 8 to 10's, but they are asking for 600 real for one hour. In Accra, Ghana there would often be guys at the beaches that would come up to us (myself and some buddies) and ask if we were looking for some ladies to enjoy the night with. Planning to go to 4 x 4 tomorrow. Centaurus and Solarium are out of my budget. Tried MABS and Barbarella and Casa Blanca, but prices were sky high and seemed like more of a hustle job than great service. Looked at the independents online, but everyone is quoting +$400 R, and they won't negotiate.

Seems like you already have experience pretty much the best Rio has to offer. Some of my best experiences have come from venturing off the beaten path.
Might I suggest you ask a taxi to take you to:
Vidigal, Vila Cruzeiro or Complexo de Alemão.
Once there, just say to any of the friendly locals: Eu estou aqui para foder suas mulheres.
I am sure you will have more than you handle in no time. And, cheap. They love gringos in those areas.
