There is no longer yellow cabs or freelance cabs at the border. There is only one taxi line. The cabs are controlled and the rules are enforced; I go there every Friday.

Now, if you really want a tip, the HK limo usually parks at the PedEast border. You don't have to be a VIP to take the limo to HK, but if you take the limo, you should tip the driver. I tip him between 3 to 5 bucks.

Agreed. Walk past the taxi line, past the farmacia and just at the start of the bend. Wait at the edge of the road and you'll be picked up by most taxi drivers, who don't want to be 10th in line.

Gentlemen, It has been a while since I was in zona last time. I will have an opportunity to visit the kingdom again Friday night. What are the latest bar and street girl prices now? I am used to paying in pesos, so any pointers would be very helpful.

Generally, I do walk there, at least during the day or if I'm feeling brave at night. My point in my post was not to highlight my frugality. My point was that it would work. You said it won't work. $2 difference isn't worth this argument. But it can be, and has been done.

It's not big money with taxi drivers.

It's continual drills for the bros to gain commands of the battle fields every where, every time.

I don't know about street girls but I just had an HK girl quote me $200 for an hour. It's getting pretty brutal out there. $90-100 in HK is inching towards standard.

Not to belabor the point. But we spend alot of energy discussing exchange rates, benefits of peso vs US dollar, etc. So yes, at times, we are talking small dollars. But it is just information. I don't lose any sleep over a $3 vs $5 taxi ride. But I think we all need to remember that hearing more voices and more experiences only makes us more informed. Shutting down comments or saying something just doesn't happen because it doesn't match your experience isn't helpful.

I'm off my soap box and back to planning my next trip. I'm grateful to all that share their experiences.

I'm just not sure that's fair information to share with inexperienced or new people. Lining up at the taxi line is a fair and safe system with decent hosts, why misdirect people from that? Everybody knows $5 is standard. Walking down to the end of the line just to make low ball offers is the epitome of Bush league. That's like telling people to make $50-60 offers for arriba in HK, you're just going to get laughed at 99% of the time.

Soon there will be no HK chicas under $100 USD with the price heading north for extras. It will begin to resemble the prices in the US for working girls.

When the yellow cabs and libres were at the border, I used to get to HK for 50 pesos, and that was only because of the stiff competition between the drivers. Since they abolished the yellows from the border, they now have a very civilize system, which is patrolled and controlled by local officials.

I tried a few times to go to the back of the line, but the taxis seemed to be united and did not cross the line. Because, they do not want to lose the great border business.

I've been coming to Tijuana almost every Friday for the last 8 years. So what do I know? I watched things change on a regular basics. I like the new change at the border.

If you are a Billy badass, and want to walk back and forth to la coahuila; have at it. There are many rateros and corrupt cops that will welcome you with open arms.
