The staff is great and girl friendly. They will take I'd'S and call your room upon her exit or you can walk her down. AMS is quiet and out of main action noisy roads. BTW, the restaurant has great food at good prices.

But I favor a slightly different itinerary to manage jet lag and reduce travel time.
I prefer to land in Bangkok in the morning, and then go straight to Pattaya, arriving about midday. By the time I settle in the 12-hour time difference and long trip catches up to me and I'm ready for a nap. I set the alarm for, say, 1800 and enjoy my first night in Pattaya, but without going overboard. If I can get to sleep at 0200 I can usually sleep six or seven hours and wake up the next day more acclimated to the local time. (Especially if I get out in the sunlight immediately upon waking up. I recommend a little walk and then breakfast.) I still take a nap in the late afternoon the first few days, but this way I get accustomed to the local time very quickly.
I usually spend the majority of my time in Pattaya, where the laid back beach vibe suits me. I realize it's nowhere near as sophisticated as Bangkok in terms of cultural attractions, luxury retail or fine dining. But frankly, I can get all that back home. When I'm on holiday I prefer a "go-to-hell" ambiance and Pattaya just lowers my blood pressure.
At the end of my trip, however, I always spend a few days in Bangkok. By that time I'm ready for a changing of punting venue and seeing a different lineup of girls every night is just the ticket. I also like being in Bangkok on the last day of my holiday. The trip home is very long indeed, and in my view it's better to start in Bangkok than making the long drive up from Pattaya. I can usually squeeze in an early evening session, followed by some last minute packing and then a quick ride to BKK to catch a flight out around midnight.
I see that Mr. Kelly had originally planned to arrive at BKK about 0800. I would recommend he keep those flights, but go straight to Pattaya and stay however many days he thinks he needs before ending his sojourn in Bangkok. On a eight-day trip, I'd spend six in Pattaya and two in Bangkok.
Finally, as others have observe the Amari Nova Suites is a teensy bit off the beaten path. If Mr. Kelly has never been to Pattaya before I would highly recommend getting a local map. I like the Groovy Map, which is available via Amazon. I just checked mine and it definitely shows that hotel.

first two days i went probing walking street. the ladies here are either old or ugly. not only in the open air beer bars as when i first came to pattaya 15 years ago. back then the girls in the beer bars were mostly ugly but cheap. now every girl working in the establishments walking street are old or / and ugly. it was extremely uncomfortable and humiliating to be expected to pay for sex with a ugly lady i could easily have gotten for free in the west and quite frankly i found it a bit racist.

i am sorry if i have been unkind to the pattaya scene in general. my philosophy is that if i have to pay for sex at least the girl should be more good-looking than me and something extra compared to what i could pick up for a couple of drinks in europe or us. pattaya did not deliver this and the few times i payed for sex i felt like it was a silly situation. i will not be coming back. there are sexclubs in the west quite frankly pattaya didn't do a thing for me.

You write that there are no pretty young girls on Walking Street. Are you fucking kidding? Did you check out any of the quality Go Go's while you were there ? Obviously not or you would have spotted lots of sexy, good looking 19 to 24 year old girls working inside. Walking Street is all about the Go Go's. I agree that the talent in the beer bars is not much. That's why I hardly ever waste my time with them even though there are occasional diamonds in the rough to be found there.

I suspect you were on a tight budget and while you were on Walking Street skipped all the expensive Go Go's and hung out in the beer bars instead. Which is fine. Pattaya has many different price points. But then based on the quality you saw at the low end Walking Street establishments, you wrongly assumed that all Walking Street is like that. Sorry guy. There are some really hot young girls to be had on Walking Street. The price 2000bt to 2500bt for ST plus the barfine (600bt to 1500bt before midnight) and drinks.
As an alternative to high priced Walking Street Go Go's, Soi 6 has some reasonably attractive and friendly girls for a more economic price. IMHO this is best place for budget punters and anyone who wants a little variety. The price is 700bt to 1000bt for ST and 300bt for the room plus drinks.
I agree with you, however, that Pattaya massage parlors are a big miss. The quality is not very good. Go to BKK for all your naughty massage entertainment.
To the guys who have already been to DD: How seriously can one take the reports mentioned on their website? They sound very similar and there are given names that come up very often.

Visited many hot spots on both recently and struggled to find even a handful of really good looking women in the 19-21 age range who aren't chubby, loose, or marred with pregnancy markings and bad tattoos. I meet good looking asian women in europe. I see good looking asian women on television. I see beautiful thai-ladies when riding the sky train. But I had a really hard time finding them amidst the big and small piggies of Pattaya. It's like the whole city is a poor illusion.

On Soi 6 the spectre of horror is wider than on WS. There are many young girls on soi 6 and many of them look ok but there are also a wide range of ugly women right up to outright dragons.
For reference on WS I think I went to every single gogo there, desperately looking for something to put between my stomach and the mattress. Names I remember alcatraz living dolls 1 2. I read up on the prices in general WS and just went who memorizes the names of these places? There are more decent looking girls on WS than Soi 6 simply because there are more women working WS. But the ok looking ones are sometimes not available for sex. They generally stand outside in the street as advertisement or are mamasans favorite dancers and she will not let them go. She wants to sell all the goods rotting below deck. The ratio here is one young and fit girl per 200 viewed. It is indecent!

I can not understand why decent clean middle age men would otherwise enjoy watching flabby and worn women in far to little clothes covering their ugliness crawl around tables looking for pingpong balls. My advice for people visiting Pattaya:
A) look for street walkers! Some of them are extremely young and pretty. They probably get all the money themselves and they are often very sweet. You recognize them that they have makeup and are "hanging around" places. They're not only on beachroad! Beachroad is like WS an institution and the girls there are not generally all that good.
B) go to discos. Look for girls who are out with their older girlfriends, new in the game.
C) go to Soi 6. Cheap. You can just pick any girl you want no hassle what you see is what you get.
D) Stay clear of walking street and the soap-massages. Very overpriced and low quality.

What good or bad does it for you if these "old farts" pay their "old and ugly girlfriends" fortunes? The money isn't coming out of your pocket and those "old and ugly girlfriends" are not to your liking anyhow.
Really, lighten up, adopt a more Buddhist attitude (this is Thailand after all!) and consider that all things must pass one day or another so it is not worth it to get attached to things or get bothered by things that bother you.
