I arrived in Abidjan, Cote D' Ivore after 18 hours of flying time from Atlanta via Paris. I was here only to be processed for a Nigerian work visa and would be here two days to do so. Air France lost my bag but I had a carry on with 3 days of clothes inside so I was set. I was met at the airport by an member of the shipping agency used by my company and escorted to a hotel. I arrived around 9:00 PM at the Hotel Palm Beach. After a long trip I was interested in sleep but when we pulled up to the gate at the entrance to the hotel there were 3 very pretty girls, dressed to kill obviously doing what a fellow monger would be interested in. The language here is French but the agent who was driving me spoke English so I asked him if the hotel permitted this type of activity.

He replied that it was no problem but, they could not come inside unless invited. At this point the fact that I was sleepy no longer mattered. I asked how much did the girls usually charge and he said $10 or $15 for all night. Well I am certainly not tired now. I checked into the hotel and when I received my key the agent asked if I would like for him to set it up for me with the girl of my choice as I speak no French. I said sure and have yet to go to my room. We walk to the front gate and he asked which girl I want. It was a hard decision as all three were gorgeous. ******* would have been in heaven. I finally settle on a girl named "Mary". 21 years old, built incredibly with a set of about 36 C cup tits and a small waist with an ass that you could almost sit your drink on, wearing a pair of tight white pants and a blue top that did nothing but enhance those fine tits she had. A very light skinned black girl but with natural blonde hair and green eyes. I guess the French blood here does that. When we got to my room I asked "do you speak English" and she replied "yes". Cool a fine girl, very cheap and she speaks English.

I told "Mary" that I needed to take a shower as I had been traveling for a long time and then I leaned over and kissed her. She responded with a deep French kiss and grabbed my crotch. I did a beeline for the shower and showered and shaved in about 3 minutes. When I returned from the bathroom she was on the bed completely naked. I dived in and she kissed me and went to the shower for a minute or two. She came back out and began to give a killer BBBJ in which she finished by tit fucking me as I exploded all over those perfect hooters. This would have been a great "Kodak Moment" but I was not armed with a digital camera as I was told not to bring anything of value into Nigeria.

It was not long before I was off to the races again. This time it lasted for a little while. I finished for the 2nd time of the evening and she returned to the bathroom to clean herself again. It seems that the girls from the Ivory Coast are very clean. We got dressed and went to the bar. This girl treated me like her boyfriend while we sat at the bar and talked. There was another pretty girl tending the bar who understood some Spanish but very little English so I got to practice my Costa Rican, Mexican, DR Spanish on her. Mary did some translating for me when she could not understand the Spanish. After about an hour at the bar we went back to the room. Mary takes off her clothes and gets right up next to me in the bed and before long here we go again. I manage to finish # 3 for the evening and we shower together and go to sleep. This pretty girl slept in my arms all night long and then gave me another session of very good sex in the morning before saying goodbye. The African men treat the women terrible and with these girls it is like they want a boyfriend for the evening. This was not at all like being with a prostitute and for $15 it didn't cost like one either.

Abidjan is not like other parts of Africa where you hear all of the bad stories, it is a big modern city with lots of very pretty women. I could easily live here. It is as modern as any of the other foreign cities that us mongers go to but much cheaper. It's in a location where you would have to be going to some other part of the world for a stopover but worth a look if you are ever in the area.

After Mary left around 8:00 AM, I went down and had breakfast. Around 10:00 the agent came over and we went to do what paperwork was necessary then he returned me to the hotel around 1:30 PM. Still not sure of my departure plans I figured I would try to find some action for the afternoon in case I had to leave. I walked around by the gate but nothing, then went to the pool and sat down and ordered a beer. There were about 5 or 6 pretty girls around the pool in bikini's but after some eye contact I finally decided that they were just guests in the hotel and not interested in a quick afternoon sex session with a gringo from South Texas. I found 2 white girls from Morroco which, I later found out were working girls but seemed to keep it low in the daytime so I went to the gate and asked the guard with his small English and my 5 words of French if he could find me some action. I gave him $5 and he asked "what room". I told him and he replied "10 minutes". I went to the cabana bar by the pool and had a beer then went to my room. When I got to my room there was a girl named "Jenny" standing at the door waiting for me. She was O.K. not as pretty as Mary but would do. I asked how much and she said $10. For this I wasn't about to bargain (******* would have got her down to $7) but I went for it. Again another BBBJ and a good afternoon sex session. I have been laid 5 times for $25 + $10 in tips so we still aren't doing bad. I'm averaging $7 a shot, tips included. On top of that Air France gave me 75,000.Francs (about $115 USD) for my lost bag so I am getting laid courtesy of the French Airline Company.

After Jenny left I took a nap just in case I had to fly later in the day. Around 6:00 PM the agent called and said I would be flying at 1:30 PM the next day. This was fine with me. If I had to stay there a month it was O.K. Getting paid, the company paying for the hotel and food and averaging $7 a shot for banging good looking girls. At least something good was coming from this trip that I was told would be so bad.

Around 8:00 PM I took a shower and cleaned up, then walked to the gate to see if "Mary" had come out yet. Had she been there my plans for the evening would have been very clear but it was raining slightly so none of the girls were there. I left and went to the bar where there were a few fellow Americans and we had a couple of beers and told stories of foreign ports and NFL football games. A couple of guys here were from Houston and we were talking about how happy we were going to be to finally have a pro football team in Texas when the Houston Texans make their debut (my apologies to any Dallas Cowboy's fans but they have let us down in the past few seasons. lol).

I noticed a pretty girl sitting by herself at the bar and 2 bartenders tonight. Since they did not allow the working girls in the hotel alone it was hard to figure who she was but, I assumed she was a friend of one of the bartenders and had come in to visit with them. She had been sitting at the bar for a while alone and had a coke only. I sat down beside her and found that she did speak passable English. We talked for a while and I bought her a beer. I still did not know if she was working or not but she seemed awful friendly. I figured this was my last night so I would go for it and if a got slapped then so be it. I put my hand on her leg and then leaned over and kissed her. She responded, not too enthusiastically but with a little success. By now the rain has stopped so I tell her I need to go to my room for a second and I will be right back. I went back out to the gate to look for Mary one more time but she was not there. There were a couple of cute young girls out though so I figure if this thing at the bar doesn't work I at least have an ace in the hole.

I return to the bar and this girl whose name is "Bridgett" is waiting for me smiling. I didn't want to waste the evening since I knew that there was action to be had so I asked her if she wanted to walk outside with me. She said yes so we walked out to the beach. The beach here is really a jetty about 10 feet tall where the waves come crashing down. Once we get here I guess the mood of the ocean kicks in and she is now very responsive to my kissing. She runs her hand down the inside of my leg and I think "Bingo". I asked her if she could spend the night with me and she says yes. When I ask "how much" she shakes her head no as if to imply that she is not a working girl. I find out that she is a hairdresser, 24 years old, has one 3 year old girl at home and lives with her mom.

Bridgett stays with me all night and at this point it is hard for me to decide who is better between her and Mary. She treated me again like her boyfriend and in the morning after having sex 4 more times she leaves. No money involved, I ask her if she needs taxi fare home and she says she lives very close and leaves her phone # and asked me to call her when I come back to Abidjan. Before this my future plans probably did not include the Ivory Coast but I think they might as of now. I was there 2 days, with pay, the company paid for the hotel and all food and drinks even the girl's drinks. I got laid 9 times and spent $35. I don't know how you could spend very much money here and the women are absolutely beautiful.

Around 10:00 AM the agent comes for me and we go to the airport. I am scheduled to depart at 1:30 PM on Cameroon Airlines for Lagos, Nigeria. This part of the report I will continue in the Nigeria section. I am the only white face on a plane of about 125 passengers but I am treated fine.

alistedmale-I'm not sure where you are from, but the Ivory Coast is in the middle of a CIVIL WAR! The French have been drawn back into their former colony, to protect foreign nationals with 2,500 of the French Foreign Legion. People are leaving the country in droves, if they can, as the entire North of the country, and now the western area, including Abidijian, the capitol city, is under threat of attack. You'll probably get good prices, but with the infrastructure of the country in chaos, and your personal safety at risk, is it worth it? thor

I think the Ivory Coast is out of bounds now.

Country under siege, probably lots of (jittery) army and police in the streets, curfew (= discos shut, night-life dead).

A tragedy for lovers of the real female body. The girls were smashing, the night life stimulating, definitely better than Addis which I found rather dissappointing (apart from the Kat, eh-eh!). How such a swinging place could remain unnoticed for years to so many people is a mystery - and a blessing for some.

Beavis, you were right until about 2 weeks ago. The rebels opened a 2nd front on the west coast, with the express purpose of capturing Abidijian. They believe[probably accurately] that if they capture the capitol city, they win the war, and are no longer the rebels, but instead become the legitimate government. Either way, not a great place to be if you're a white foreign national right now! thor

O.K. Thor I guess we were wrong. I know my company was still sending ships to Carena Shipyard around the end of November but I guess they will be going elsewhere now. When I was there I stayed at the Palm Beach Hotel and had a blast.

Beavis, based on your posts, I'm sure that a lot of people were considering going to West Africa for the 1st time, as it has been an under reported area on these boards. The instability in Africa is inherent, and a big part of why the choices are great, and prices low. Thanks for providing your posts as a way to learn about this area! thor

As for the women West Africa gets a two thumbs up. It really is unbelievable unless you have been there then you know. The bulk of my time was spent in Nigeria which is a horrible place but full of great women. When I first arrived I thought I was in heaven with all of the pretty girls. Unfortunately after being there a while I kind of forgot about the women as there was so much hassle with everyday life. Many of the women in West Africa are drop dead gorgeous but the things you have to deal with can be a major pain in the keister.

Did the rebels take the city?

Well, just back from a 10 day trip to Abidjan.

Not as scary as I expected, but still a lot more scary than Kampala in Uganda.

The situation was fairy quiet in the streets, but the hotel staff did advice me not to leave the "Plateau' zone of Abidjan.
As long as people stay far away from the poor areas Of Treichville and so on, there should be no problem.

There are far less westen people than before, so espect to be warmly welcomed when girls will see you.

Now more about my dates. For those who speak a little bit of french, you should check www.abidjan.net where you'll find at least 1000 pics of females wanting penpals or husbands.
I did send them a few emails before I arrived, so I soon guessed who would be available for sex and who would be too conservative. During those 10 days, I did meet 7 of those internet friends and all of them came back in my room. All of them did BBBJ, but scary to see that without exception they were all ready to have sex with me without any protection. I never experienced girls who enjoyed french kissing that much, not even in Thailand.

I'm glad to hear Abidjan is back swinging again. I'm rather astonished to hear that "most girls were ready to have sex without protection". Before the civil war, Abidjan girls were condom fanatics, as African girls go. Maybe they are more desperate for customers now than before, and they will do anything to please.

Regarding hotels, Ibis Marcory is probably better for girls than Ibis Plateau. The area (Marcory/zone 4) also has much more in the way of action. Adjamé was a no-go areas before the civil war as well. Treichville less so: people used to go to typical African restaurants there during the day, and at night there was Cabane de Bambou and Moulin a Huile, two great hunting spots.

I wouldn't make too much out of the staff's angry looks. This is the African way. The angry looks are directed at the girls, not at the guest. It makes one feel uneasy, but I can't think of a single hotel in Abidjan where a white man would actually be prevented from having girls in his room. Doormen or reception employees will fish for a tip if the girl has no ID or if she is rather youngish, but a small tip will always get you through, within reason.

Let's keep each other posted about this great place and hope it recovers (but not too much, it should remain deterring enough, we don't want the crowds to spoil it for us, do we?).

Your best bet is to fly through Paris via Air France or Rome via Alitalia; also maybe Amsterdam via KLM. Ethiopian Airlines also flies to Abidjan but you may have to first fly to Ethiopia (not sure). Good luck and always use a condom when you are there (even if the girl insists that she is clean - don't believe her)!!

Flights

Flights are bound to be expensive since there's little competition. I understand Brussels Airlines fly to Abidjan (from Brussels). They are the successor airline to the now defunct Sabena Belgian Airlines. They are more reliable than Air France or Alitalia, in my opinion.

It is wellknown that most of African girls would kill for a chance to get married to a white guy from Europe or North America. You know I don't mean it literally but they are so eager to leave their poor realities. My question: if you find a gorgeous beauty there and you are getting crazy about her, what kind of a wife one might expect from an African girl? I understand that it is always a guess or a gamble but I think there should be some sort of a general idea about them. Are they fair and reliable in a marriage? Is it worth at all? I am asking about girls from Western Africa and especially from Ivory Coast. Please be reasonable and polite because I am considering this possibility seriously.

Dear Canuck2002:

Good question that's tough to answer. Some African girls would just want to use you to get a green card and then leave you, especially girls from Nigeria (don't trust anyone from there), while many others are believers in true love and would be loyal and faithful to you. One way to find out would be to get to know the girl's family and as much as possible about her.

Speaking of family, that is a major issue to think about if you are planning to marry a girl from anywhere in Africa (or any developing country), and I speak from experience. The culture in Africa and most developing countries (like the Philippines, for example) is very family-oriented, and their definition of "family" is much broader than in the U.S. or Canada.

If you married a girl from one of those countries, the family may have high expectations for you to pay for school fees, clothes, etc. for the girl's brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, the whole extended family, as well as even sponsor for some relatives to move to the U.S.! Luckily the latter issue has died down a bit since 9/11 since it's so hard to get a visa now, but the pressure and expectations for you to send money back to the family is enormous.

Africans who have never left their country usually have an unrealistic view of the U.S. They think that everyone here is rich, and for someone who comes from a country like Cote d'Ivoire where the per capita income is only a few hundred dollars a year, hearing that you have a $50,000 annual salary sounds like a lot, and they don't take into account the much higher cost of living in North America. I know of several Africans who live in the U.S. who rarely if ever go back home because they can't afford the presents and cash handouts that they would be expected to have with them when they get off the plane.

Some of my African and Asian friends also complain that several of their relatives have gotten lazy and even quit their jobs, with the expectation that the US-based relative will send them money every month. Other relatives seem to be sick an awful lot with vague ailments that require cash to be sent so they can go to the doctor. One friend stopped this nonsense by offering to mail medicine instead of cash everytime someone claimed to be ill - the supposed illnesses dropped off almost immediately after that!

I know that the above sounds a little harsh, but it's true, and I speak from lots of experience. I'm not saying that it's not good to send some cash over to your wife-to-be's relatives, just that you need to be aware of this issue before you get married so you can plan ahead. Several friends of mine have solved the problem by setting up ground rules, such as: money only for close relatives (no 5th cousin in the home village nonsense) for school-related expenses, and if the grades aren't good, no more money. If the relative is male, able bodied, healthy, over 21 and not in school, nothing - go become a farmer or go get a job!

Thanks Frank! Your thoughts are very close to my own. Anyway, there is no booletproof solution of my situation and I am going to be very cautious on my way to "heaven". As for Nigireans, I agree with 150%, I have some experience dealing with them. Fortunately, I was smart enough then.

And those flights to Ivory Coast are so expensive!!! :-(((

Speaking from "real" experience (one marriage to a Senegalese girl, one, still on-going, to an Ivorycoast girl), there is nothing very, very different from marriage with a French, or a European woman.

Small differences abound though:

1. "Muslim" girls, in my own and personal opinion, and excuse me for saying it a little too bluntly, don't hesitate to lie. Big lies, small lies, call it what you want.

2. Attitude to money is distinctly different between someone educated in Europe or in Africa. Someone raised in Africa will buy what, to him/her, looks "necessary", even though the total monthly expenditures are much higher than his/her income. In spite of numerous "talks" on the subject, it seems that nothing will ever change this kind of attitude. To this very big problem, I have of course found a very easy solution: everyone has his/her own bank account. After all, bank managers can also bring pressure to bear.

Very strange - why can't Photo Time just put in some time as a regular member like everyone else, instead of stealing just so he can be upgraded to senior status more quickly?

Yes, what Frank says about money expections in Africa is very much true. Take it from me as an African who lives in the USA, that is what we have to go through with our African families. And saying you don't have money to send to them does not do. You will never be believed. We are supposed to be rich making lots of money.

Hello everyone!

Finally, I am flying to IC to meet my prety girl in the middle of February. I have booked Golf Hotel in Abidjan. Does anybody know is it a good choice? Another problem - she wants to introduce me to her parents. I suspect that I should bring some sort of presents for them. Am I right? Any suggestions, what should I buy for them? As far as I know, she is from an ordinary family.

Good luck to you on this trip. I spent 21 years living in African countries and have seen people's behavior around money, power, foreigners. Be very careful with how you establish the relationship with her family. Everyone will be extra nice and almost unreal to you on this trip as they will see a large $ sign above your head. With poverty as it is in Africa that is understandable. Otherwise African babes are hot and very loving, and know how to treat their man as a king.

Regarding Ivory Coast, I know very well the situation there, because I’ve been there many times and married an Ivorian lady.

The reports and opinions of Getopardo and others are correct.

Now the political situation there is DANGEROUS, especially for whites, and I must suggest not to go. Go to Ghana or Gambia, instead.

Bur till two years ago it was a heaven. Lovely ladies, non pros, that wanted to do everything to please you.

There are some important thing to consider:

First: you must speak a little French. Girls speaking English are really rare.

Second: Abidjan is a big town, you will need somebody to escort you, because the taxi drivers do not know the town, and street names and addresses are unknown.

Third: some places are unsafe for whites, especially Abobo and Treichville. Never go there in the evening.

The best solution can be: go to hunt in a big shopping center, the one where Europeans and upper class Ivorians go (like Hayat or Prima) and start strolling around and look at the girls. In a short time some semi-pro will approach you and start talking.

Invite her to lunch or dinner, and ALL hotels are girl-friendly.
You age does not matter, and maybe your looks: an ex-girlfriend told me that the cannot easily understand the real age of a white. She was thinking I was ten tears younger. All you need is to be kind, polite ad correct.

If you have the time, don’t stay in Abidjan but go with her to Grand-Bassam (with a taxy, the fare can be 10.000 FCFA, about 15 Euros) and look for an hotel on the beach in the “Quartier France”.

Grand-Bassam is a lovely place, and a week-end for two will cost you about 70 Euros, including room and meals (exceptional food).
As for the girl, you should never give her more than 30.000 FCFA, and this must be clearly not a payment for her services, but some money for covering the costs of transport and for the cost of her mobile phone. She is not a pro, she's yur girl-friend ("copine").
And never, never give your phone number or your real address to a girl: she will find you in Europe or in the States and ask for money for some medical expenses, or for a funeral, or for the school of her little brother.

If you are interested in a real pro, you can find street walkers in Cocody or in Zone 4 (there is a route called “la rue des serpents”: “snake’s street” because of the whistles the girls are making to passers-by), or in some night clubs, but if you go for dinner in a restaurant (“maquis”, as they are called), try to be kind with the waitress. Sometimes you’ll be really rewarded.
There is an Internet site : www.abidjan.net. Look in the “rencontres” section (on top left of the home page)and click on “Elle pour Lui”. It is fill of girls looking for marriage, but some are clearly of girls offering service. But, as I told before, why look for a pro when the others are free.

In any case, use a condom: a doctor from Red Cross told me that Aids statistics in Africa are inflated because the Elisa test for HIV gives positive results even if you had malaria, but it is really a danger, like all others STD.

And enjoy your stay.

Yes, the HIV-positive statistics might be inflated a bit, but they are real none-the-less and it's just not worth it to take any risks. Even if it is published somewhere that "20% of the girls are HIV-positive" and the real number is only 2%, that's still way too big a risk to take.

P.S. Ciccio's idea of going to Grand-Bassam for a weekend is a good one. I lived in Abidjan for several months back in the 1980s and loved going there. Nice beach, very relaxing, and fascinating old crumbling colonial-era buildings.

Lots of decent hotels right on or near the beach, some a bit pricey (La Taverne Bassamoise, Hotel La Madrague, Auberge le Treich-Laplene), others less pricey (Hotel la Paillote, Chez Loulou, Auberge de la Plage). Try a meal at Maquis Le Quai, Maquis Le Balafon or Maquis Loulou.

This is the first photo of one of my girlfriends in Ivory Coast.

She is a semi-pro, living in Abidjan and was the “copine” (GF) of a colleague of mine (he met her at a restaurant, were she was warking as a waiter).

Here some additionnal info:

Before the civil war, the best place to find semi-pro's where the disco's Cabane Bambou and Canne à Sucre in Treichville. This is where the expats headed for especially during the holydays when their wifes returned earlier in France. But since then, I can not tell you if it is safe anymore to go.

Anyway, there are a lot of SW in front of the main hotels , especially Hotel Ivoire. Sometimes, the SW manage even to enter inside the hotel and knock on your room's door "c'est l'amour qui frappe à la porte!".

In fact, as a white lonely foreigner in Abidjan, your problem is not to find the action than to get ridd of the numerous semi-pros that come to hassle you day and night.

As an expat, the real challenge is to find another flavour when you get bored of chocolate. You may sometimes find caramel in the two disco's mentionned before. In my time, there was even a bordello with only vanilla (expensive) : Villa d'Este in Bietry. I don't know if it's still existing.

There are also Moroccan girls working in private appartments, but only for the Lebanese community. I remember such an appartment in Marcory, but you need a real good Lebanese friend to introduce you in this underground action.

It would be no use, of course, I have a strong feeling that Abidjan will never return anywhere near to its former sinnful splendor. In fact, I don't even inquire about the present situation because I'm too much aware that the answer cannot be good.

The bottom line is that one should always avail oneself of a good destination while it lasts.

I was visiting last year and ended up in Accra instead. I did a tremendous amount of research and decieded it would be a more rewardring experience for me in Accra instead of Abidjan.
These phone numbers were current as of last september and I have seen All of the photos that go with them.

After a long time I returned to Ivory Coast. Gentlemen, don’t go there.

For the first time, in the long years I’m travelling to Africa, I felt HAPPY when I boarded the plane to return in Europe.

The situation there is terrible: there are security threats and health threats.
Security threats: about 2000 prisoners have escaped Abidjan’s prison, and are in town, looking for the money, or even the life, of the first European they meet.
It is dangerous even to descend from the taxi: you have to pay when the car is still running, before it stops, or somebody on the road will see your money and will try to take it.

The police, the army and some new pro-government militias are looking for bribes, and they will stop your taxi or your car asking for money.

They say it is not a bribe, but money to help the government in their war against the rebels.

I felt in danger even when I was traveling with my Ivorian wife’s brothers.
They didn’t allow me to travel outside Abidjan.

Health threats: there are power black-outs and water shortages, and the hygienic situation is worsening day after day.

People has no money to buy medicines, and a typhoid fewer epidemic is running in the poorest districts.

Some cases of meningitis have been reported, and the hospital cannot cope with this emergency.

A girlfriend of mine died for this, last week.

Well, if you have the courage for trying, our hobby has never been easier, because girls are lacking money, and it is even easier than before to pick-up.

But you must be very cautious: the dangers have increased too.

I know that AlistedMale’s report was read in Ivory Coast: one lazy afternoon I tried to call some of the number he reports, and most of they did not work, but I was successful with one, and the girl said me that a lot of people has harassed her after “her number was on Internet”. This is a country in trouble: I don’t want to increase it, so I will not write any kind of personal info about the girls.

Here is an update about the nightlife in Abidjan :

The two most popular pick-up joints ( Saint-Germain and Jimmy's) for foreigners are to be found in the Zone4 area. It is very packed on friday and saturday and they can be a little bit too quiet from sunday to wednesday night, but there will always be some semi-pros inside.

Another popular and elegant nightclub in Zone4 is Scotch near the Rue Paul Langevin, it has a swimming pool outside but seems to attract more couples rather than single girls.

There will be many small bars also in the same area Zone4 but you would have to wait that the bar closes before you can take one of their girls :
- Foxy's with a few acrobatic and energetic gogo-girls
- Pti't Folies on the Rue Paul Langevin with a dozen girls willing to perform a dance while she sits on your knees
- Kiss Me bar and El Paso bar on the Boulevard de Marseille

Streetwalkers can be found at Cocody in front the Ivoire Hotel on the Boulevard Latrille, in the 2Plateau area on the rue des Jardins, in the Plateau area right in front the Novotel entrance and of course in the Zone4 at the Rue Mercedes and in all the small adjoining streets. The rate for these girls is between 5000 to 15000 FCFA and they can be brought to the nearby clean Kenty Hotel that rents rooms for 5000 CFA for one hour.

The local population was friendly enough but the Police is quite annoying; Every night, there are always some police controles on each boulevard. Whether they ask directly some tip to pay them a coffee or they will scrutinize your passport for long minutes before you give them a 1000 Cfa tip.
From Zone4 to the Rue Princess area in Yopougon, I have been controlled at least 6 times.... what a waste of time and it is certain that Abidjan will never attract tourists as long as the police keeps begging for money all the time.

Some other interesting nightclubs are "Vendome" in le Plateau and "Ritz" in Treichville next to the Midnight nightclub. In those clubs, local guys who want to look like P. Diddy spend a fortune drinking champagne and of course, it attracts many loose girls. Looking at those girls move on the dancefloor is worth the expensive airfare to Abidjan.

About the food, it is simply the best food that I have eaten outside Europe.

I spent a few days in Abidjan in 2002. Stayed at the Hotel Palm Beach. The mouse deer inside are quite amuzing.

I have been wanting to visit Cote D'Ivoire, the girls are simply some of the most stunning in all of Africa and therefore the world but unfortunately the security situation there is so dangerous at present, especially so for an obroni which makes a trip there for a newcomer to the country an extreme risk. Hopefully the current political negotiations will bear fruit and start to resolve the current crisis in what used to be one of the most prosperous countries in all Africa.

I can not be considered as a specialist of Africa, but I believe that Ivorian women are more elegant and dress with more style than their African counterparts. If the city of Abidjan was once compared to Paris, Abidjan women could be compared to French women regarding the way they dress.

Regarding accomodation, I did stay in Novotel, Le Marly and Le Wafou.
Le Wafou along the lagune has seen better days, but there is a very nice swimming pool, a good restaurant, it also seems to be a hangout place for the expat crowd, BUT they do charge 5000 FCFA for overnight guests unless you book the more expensive Double room.
Le Novotel has comfortable rooms, it has a nice swimming pool where I have never seen any swimmers, but the location is bad if you want to enjoy the nightlife as you would have to cross the bridge ( police control from 9pm).

Rates for a girl do vary but it seems to be a lot cheaper than some other African countries : Streetwalkers 5000-1000 FCFA shorttime, 20000 long time and the WG inside the nightclubs are mostly around 20000.
But once again, it is an easy game to find freebies in this city. There are some good shopping malls ( the Sococé at Les 2 Plateaux is particularly good) where you can have a drink and find some students or some lonely girls.

My experience:

1. At hair dresser, plateau (centre of town): the shampoo lady insisted in shampooing my hair before haircut, and as it was extremely hot around lunch time, I accepted. No one in the salon but me, the hairdresser (a lady) and the sampoo lady. She kept me for a while, talking to me nicely. What do I do, where I stay, if I am married. She is in her 30s (probalably late 20s), with a perfect body and delicate face. I could feel the heat in her. So we decided to talk nicely about boyfriend/girlfriend issues (still shampoing for more than 10 mn) and she asked if I liked african ladies like her, and I admited, asking her if liked me.

If you go further west you'll arrive to Grand Bassam, which is a wonderful place and has some good hotels on the beach (look for Quartier France, which is the old town on the small strip between the sea and the lagoon).

There are beaches even at Abidjan, and one of the best hotel (sorry but I do not remember the name) is on the beach.

Anyway, the most beautiful beach I've seen is about 300 Km west of Abidjan, near San Pedro, in a small bay called Monogaga, where the sea waves are small and it is easy to swim, but it is difficult to get there easily, if you don't have a local friend (or maybe girlfriend) to escort you. You must take a bus from Abidjan to San Pedro, then a taxi.

I remember that it took a whole day for the trip, and those were better times, with a limited number of police stops on the road.

Mini-assinie2000: that was the bungalow, with 2 double bed room, a cooking room, a bath room, running water (no safe to drink), on a small island on the lagoon: the cost was about 75 Euros for one week-end, including the service of a boy who cooked for us and was at our disposal all the time, but really discreet.

Mini-assinie2002: that was another bungalow on another island ont the lagoon. Price was about the same, but some french couple in the nearby bungalow drank too much wine and screwed all night, and we had no rest.

I never tried, so I cannot guarantee. they offer "studios" (single room apartments) at about 80.000 CFA per months (about 115 Euros).

Regarding flights, I heard mixed opinions about Afiqihah airlines. It seems they have only one plane..

Actually, if you want to be sure and safe, fly Air France (their prices are high, expecially in August and December, when they can sell every place int the plane), or Brussels Airlines.

One good alternative is Royal Air MAroc, that flies daily from Casablanca to Abidjan.
The problem with Air Maroc is that the plane arrives in Abidjan very late (after midnight) and if you don't have somebody picking you at the airport you are in the hands of taxi drivers, and that can be a really bad experience.

Try, if you can, to arrange with the hotel to have somebody pick-up you.

Sometimes the plane from Casablanca is delayed one day, but they will lodge you in a good hotel, offer good dinner and a bus ride, and that can be a good experience (if you didn't miss an important meeting).

Not interested to defend Afriqiyah at any cost but I regulary fly them.
They have more than one plane for sure, I have seen three parked on the Tripoli airport. Rarely they delay.
It is a low-cost company: if you trust Ryan and Easy Jet in Europe there is no reason not to trust Afriqiyah in Africa.
As for our hobby, not always high price is high quality!

Absolutely no reason to be scared of Abidjan.. It is Heaven on earth for the one who is looking for freebies. My friend and I have met 51 girls in two weeks, it is That easy to score. I have been 16 times in Thailand, also ventured in manila, Angeles City but it is never as exciting as Abidjan.

Streetwalkers are plenty in Zone4 Bietry and expect around 5000 or 10 000 CFA; you can bring them to the nearby hotels Kenty, Golden Hotel or Chic Hotel, all located on the Rue du Canal. They dress very provocative but they are not really good looking. Who needs them anyway since mostly every girl in disco will be willing to sleep with you.
Kenty and Golden hotels have short time rooms but they also have larger suites an appartement available for 30.000 per day (no swimming pool btw).

On saturday and sunay afternoons, you could meet some girls at the popular swimming pool of the very nice Wafou hotel.

I stayed in Abidijan a couple of nights in 2002. Stayed at the Hotel Palm Beach and there were plenty of women hanging around there. The only hang up I had was the language. If I spoke French I am sure it would have been one of the most fun places on earth.

Someone asked me if the Saint Germain disco is similar to the Florida disco in Nairobi. It is not at all the same : Florida is full of prostitutes, dozens and dozens and they all expect some money from one of the many punters inside.
Le Saint Germain is more like a nightclubs with a few hardcore pros (maybe 10 that will ask you for money) and many girls interested in meeting a white man (maybe 25 that will ask you nothing). It is not as crowded but there are no tourists at all, only a few expats (who never pay anything), a few soldiers (who never pay anything), so around 10 guys and 30 girls. On friday and saturday tough, it is a lot more crowded and more fun.

In the zone4, there are dozens of bars with virtually nobody inside except the waitresses. One only need to go inside, give his mobile number and that's a free date for the next afternoon.

No museums in Abidjan, no safaris in the country, no sights to be seen except maybe the nice beach of Bassam, means that there is no reason for ordinary tourists to visit this country (good news).

Since there is not a lot of discussion in here, thought I'd add my comments even though they may not be very useful.

I was in Abidjan for Christmas and New Year, but I was staying with my girlfriend's family so I didn't have any P4P experiences. I also wasn't staying in a touristy area or going to touristy places, so my experiences might not be that useful if you are in a really touristy area. This is why I say my comments might not be very useful.

First point. Language. I'm english-speaking and have a low level of french (I can follow discussions, get about, shop, etc). It seemed to me that you need to be pretty much fluent in french to get around (for example, a policeman was trying to get a bribe from me and I totally missed what he was saying). Also few people spoke english there (mainly people who had studied in the US or England). Pretty much all the time I was with my girlfriend or one of her friends, so they could translate for me, so I didn't have a problem. Like I said, I wasn't doing touristy things so perhaps this would not be so much of a problem in tourist areas.

Second point. Police roadblocks. It seemed pretty much impossible to get anywhere without encountering a police roadblock. Sometimes you get stopped, sometimes you don't. They may well want to check your papers, they may be looking for a bribe. My experiences range from them checking the driver's papers, to them checking everyone's papers to straight out asking for a bribe (a couple of times). There did seem to be some sort of strategy, in that pretty much all the roadblocks acted in the same way. For example in taxis, at one stage it was just the taxi driver getting checked, then after Christmas the taxi drivers weren't getting checked but the passengers were.

Which brings me on to taxis. My girlfriend was very nervous about taking taxis at night. She said that neither she or her friends would take taxis at night as single women (for fear of being attacked). She also felt that me being white would make us an increased target for muggings by taxi drivers. I don't know whether she was being paranoid or not (this is her first visit home in 5 years), but since I'm aware of similar things happening in London I was inclined to believe her. That said, we didn't actually experience any problems (even leaving clubs at 5am).

General safety. My girlfriend's family was worried about me walking around by myself in their local area. I don't know how the risk matched up to their perception. I definitely was noticeable (I only saw 3 other white guys in the area in the month I was there) but I don't know how much of a target it made me. It might also reflect on their perception of the UK as a safe place (I'm sure some of the areas I regularly visit in London can be as dangerous as their area).

Strip clubs. Someone asked about strip clubs in Abidjan. I saw one (although I didn't go inside). Careful questions to my girlfriend's male friends suggested that sex is available. This was a local strip club for the local guys. Don't know anything about strip clubs catering to tourists.

Regular clubs. I went mainly to clubs for the Abidjan locals. Full of groups of cute girls (and guys too, obviously). Standard practice is you buy a bottle (of whisky, champagne, etc) for the evening. So it's very much places you go to in groups. From jokes made by my girlfriend's male friends, I think that if I was single then I would have had plenty of opportunities. To echo what has already been said, if you can dance then you have great opportunities. Ivorians see themselves as leading the music scene in West Africa and there are always new dances to learn. If you are a white guy who can dance then you will be noticed (as contrary to their expectations) and definitely increase your opportunities.

Regarding the dance, it is definitely true you would be notice by girls but bear in mind that most of the girls do want to hustle the white guy. If you can dance, they will suspect you have more experience in Africa and will think twice before getting you.

Look at all those pics on abidjan.net and see how dangerous it is in Abidjan. Have you noticed how some of those girls really look scared and how the other ones look so hostile?

Regarding drinks in nightclubs, one bottle of Clan Campbell whisky cost 3O.000 CFA ( 45 euro ) at Jimmy's an Taxi Brousse and around 35.000 in St germain. The ice cubes and the cokes come with it for free and you can keep the bottle in the bar as long as you wish. An ordinary drink (beers) cost 3000 CFA. Rates should be the same at the Mix or Ice nightclub.
Rates are much cheaper in the maquis at Yopougon area or in the Mille maquis area ( 1000 CFA for ordinary drink)

I've really enjoyed all these photos of Ivorian girls. One thing I've noticed which was different to Accra (which I visited a few years back) is that there seem to be lots more mixed race/half-caste girls, judging by their light skin colour and features. Would anyone who has spent time in both countries say that that is true: that there are more diverse girls in Cote d'Ivoire? Is/Was there a larger European population there than elsewhere? Personally, I prefer the look of mixed-race girls, a la Brazil, so this might influence me to give Ivory Coast a try on my next trip to the Dark (but not too dark!) Continent.

Down there they range from mediterranean light olive skinned, with straight or curly oyibo hair through to the almost black as coal skin.

Well Slowalk, all i can say for now is that we on this forum love to generalise alot about womens looks and character. but lately i met alot of them hanging out in boom and aphro in accra. these women are mostly students trying to learn or shall i say brush up on their english.

anyway ratio of very goodlooking ivorians is quite high on my list. most of the women have a chocolatey colour skin, with a few beyonce coloured ones here and there. they seem to be way more fashion concious (which could be attributed to their earlier french masters, where as ghana had anglosaxon masters), more romantique, and alittle taller than their ghanaian sisters.

I would hesitate to say IC has the best looking women in the whole of africa but in the western quarter of africa, agaisnt other west-african countries like ghana, nigeria and togo then yes they are one of the best. i would even bet all the money in my bank account that it is fairly true.

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger are all ex-French colonies but they don't value high fashion as high as ivorians do. Kenya and Nigeria are ex-english colonies but they take fashion more seriously in nigeria than they do in Kenya.

Although, I do believe the food is more likely influenced by past cultures. I have met one Burkinabe woman (in Berlin two weeks ago) and she did not dress any better, in fact, worse, than the hoards of Kenyans that live in Germany and USA. As far as Nigerian, I think its individually based. I met one Nigerian who spent a great deal of time on herself and even more who appeared to be shop rats. I really have no basis to judge except...

During the slave trade, the slaves went away with these recipes and now you have foufou in the caribbean and north of latin america. Many of the foods that were introduced by the colonialists didn't go down very well with the native populace and in many cases their diet has remain unchanged.

As for the clothes, I'd say some national cultures are more appreciative of high fashion. Nigerians, Congolese, Ivorians, Tanzanians are into the finer things in life. Even if they're poor. I'm kenyan and I'll admit we're some of the worst dressed africans. The women get a pass but with the men its absolutely awful:.(

Perfect timing. I'm getting my visa at this moment. I am arriving via Ghana. I won't post the date, however. I was there March but, I stayed one day. Military pissed me off when they took my camera.... Just asked to see it then slowly walked away toying with it. My decision to leave quickly was also prompted by my inability to find a working ATM. I was having too much fun in Ghana to put up with what I encountered there. This time, I have to stay longer and check things out because I'm hanging out in multiple African countries for an extended period.

Abidjan is a very strange city.

You can find everything you want but of course we are in Africa, where nothing is for free.

The scene is good everywhere, that means that more or less at each corner you can find a girl approaching you.

I will start with the basis

Abidjan is divides into three main areas:

- Yopougon

- Plateaux, Cocody, Riviera, Deux Plateaux

- Marcory, Treichville, Bietry (Zone4)

YOPOUGON

This is the poorer area of Abidjan. A lot of Ivoirians live there, mainly due to low rent.

It is far away from the city center.

Of course is not the place to be for a safe and relaxing life.

I've went there once. A visit to the famous "Rue Princesse" is obliged if you live in Abidjan.

I let you imagine why they call the street like that.

This street is 2 km long and it is full of two floor houses.

On ground floor, there are "Maquis" (local world for "pub open air") and on first floor there are brothels.
Everything there is really cheap.

One beer is from 300 to 600 CFA (from 0, 50 to 1 euro).

Girls for 600 CFA.

But you can really feel quite scared, that is the AIDS place.

On top, if you are a white guy, it is not so safe to walk there.

Those were the residential area of Abidjan.

I heard that 10 – 20 years ago that was the place to B.

It was safe, full of pubs, restaurants, and discos and of course girls.

This was basically due to the two bridges between Plateaux and Treichville.

Still today those are the key of Abidjan.

So when the Army was in the streets, nobody can cross the bridges. The airport is south, not far from Zone4.

The expats felt like mouse in a trap.

Then especially after 2004 with "les evenements", all the expats community left Plateaux, Cocody and Riviera for Marcory and Zone4.

And there started to decline.

Nowadays there is only one popular street in Deux Plateux: Rue des Jardin.

But there you will find local rich people, good restaurants and live music pubs.

Not a lot of girls there.

Plateux was famous in the past due to the number of discos.

That was the place to go for mongers.

Today there are the best Abidjan restaurant and business hotels (Novotel, Pullmann, Tiama) and only one good place: StarLife.

The Starlife is a high level discothèque just opened one month ago.

Mainly rich people and few girls.

Cocody is the residential area with all Embassies.

Being in Abidjan means going in Zone 4.

Here you can find a lot of restaurant and the pulsing area of the city.

But being clear, let's start with the other two districts.

MARCORY

Another residential area for Ivorian and for Expats.

I don't know a lot about it sorry.

TREICHVILLE

In the 80s, this area was full of pub and discos.

Today it is the popular living area, but still today some good corner are living.

Concerning restaurant, I must suggest the Aboussan, excellent in African food and not so expensive.

Just 100 mt far from this restaurant, you can find two good and active places:

- Afrodisiak

- and Ritz

The two doors are very near, so you can visit both in once.

The scene is not bad, but mainly local.

Another place suggested by some friends is La Cabanne de Bambou. Very folkloristic.

Here you can find the original Abidjan feeling.

Finally: ZONE 4

Probably everybody coming in Abidjan is obliged to go to Zone 4.

Here you can find the largest expat community, the best restaurants and the best night scene.

It is also the safest district of Abidjan.

But, of course, I MUST TELL YOU: BE CAREFULL!

The situation in Abidjan is stable altough there has been a small demonstration in the Abobo district. As Abobo is not a district that any foreigner would visit, there are no risks at all at the moment.
All my friends living in abidjan, whether they are french or Ivorian say that there is not much to worry about (right now, one's never know how if it will explode)
However there have been demonstrations in other cities such as Dabou, Korhogo, Gagnoua and Bouake, but nothing serious enough to prevent some mongering action for tourists.

All visitors require a visa. And to get that visa a Yellow Fever vaccination is officially required. With side effects like those above I'd rather take my chances without, if I could get in. Anyone know of a way around the vaccine requirement? Possibly by offering tea money via the land border from Ghana, but that assumes visas are available there.

The police have been instructed to stop racketeering cars and tourists. We were stopped a few times but they only checked the drivers' papers. They once extracted a small fine, allegedly for not heeding a STOP signpost. You should not drive during the day with the lights on. That's a sign used by big-shots in case they've been hijacked. My girl was stopped when she drove with her lights on: 15 policemen (or soldiers) suddenly emerged into the middle of the street and stopped her. They assumed the lights on meant "I'm in trouble, help". It's a long shot from before the war, where anyone in uniform only meant trouble. Drivers overall are also instructed not to sop during the night at dark places, even if waved down by what looks like "police" (guys in uniform). The assumption is that if it's an official (authorized) road block, it will be very visible and well-advertised.

Rue du Canal is a street with SW's at night.

At the end of Rue du Canal there's another street whose name I forgot. There is the St-Germain, the disco which gets full at week-end. Lots of absolute stunners! Here's their website :

Abidjan is swinging again. The ratio of girls to males is not as good as in the Cameroons though. On the other hand Abidjan promises to become a real city, complete with venues and supermarket, while Cameroonian cities will remain hopelessly underdeveloped.

You still need to do the on line registration with biometric passport, at which time you pay the Euro 100 fee on line. You also need all the documents, hotel reservation, or letter of invitation. The advantage is you don't need your return ticket, I just said I was going by bus (best done in 2 days) which I did. If you get a visa from Europe you need a return air ticket, but you will get a 3 months multiple entry visa. And I do manage to bag some very nice hotties. I spent a few days with some lovelies in Ghana, Uganda, and Kenya and never handed over more than $50USD for several days of fun. So doing the math, I had much fun, ate cheap, and gave the ladies an average of $10 to $15 USD per day I was with them which is more than they would earn per day at a job if they had one (they usually did not have anything substantial going on with most of them working unpaid internships). You guys may rue the day you were dropping C notes like they were dollar bills, just ask any broke multi million lottery winner!

Due to the little activity that this forum has had since the crisis, I will update some of the information from a work related trip to Abidjan. I only have time for girls at night and I needed to be careful. My information is only partial because I could not make it to zone 4. Still, I hope that fellow board members will appreciate the info.

Security: The city is perfectly safe if one take the usual precautions. Sometimes police stop taxis for random searches, but I was never asked for a bribe and it was only a minor inconvenience.

Places to find WG: The best place is zone 4. Everyone told me that is the place to be for having fun. Unfortunately, I never made it to zone 4 and can't contribute on places over there. We all known of the St Germain Night Club, but I understand that the action there is widespread.

Fortunately, there is action everywhere in the city and there is no need to go to zone 4 if you are not close. I did the hunting in Cocody and Youpugon. In Cocody the best place is around a strip bar called 'Dreams Bar. ' In this bar girls will dance naked and they are available in private rooms in the back. Just outside the bar there are a number of maquees under a big tree and a ton of amazing women for the taking. This seems the place to be for students from the university that is very close. Most taxis will not know how to get there, but is right behind a grocery store called 'Leader Price' and most taxi drivers know where this grocery store is located. The general area is called Riviera Golf.

In Youpugun now the action is more spread out. The famous 'Rue Princess' is mostly gone, the current government cleaned it up last year and they move to zone 4. Still there are plenty of places to find girls; they are not just as concentrated. Youpugon is considered a middle class neighborhood and it is also relatively safe, but more dangerous than Cocody. Many people live here and they are famous for partying.

Bars: Most barmaids are available after their shift is over (1:00AM for bars and 6:00AM for discotheques). I was able to get 3 girls this way without trying very hard and without speaking french. They may also came to your room right before their shift the next day.

Discotheques: I went to 3 discotheques (Bluetooth in Cocody, Tunnels in Youpougon, and Voila (sp?) in Youpougon. Most girls are there with a date and the music is too loud. It is difficult to approach girls there unless you are willing to move your ass into the dancefloor.

Girls: The best of Abidjan is the quality of the girls. They are really attractive and they know how to dress. They also know how to seduce us. I was only after girls that were 7 or up. However, they are very possessive and the non-pros don't know how to share. Two girls in a bar got in a huge fight for me that included broken glasses and cuts. Also be careful because many of these girls are in facebook and may track you down.

SW: I didn't see any place with obvious SW.

Tips: Many of these girls that work in bars or go to these places, they don't see themselves as hookers. They just expect a present from you as a boyfriend. It may take you two days to score and you will have to take her to a discotheque. The discotheques do not have cover charge, but you will be pressure to buy a bottle of whiskey ($20-$40).

Prices: Depends on your negotiations skills, the quality of the girl, and how you treat her. If the girl think that you are a one time proposition, she will want more. I paid ranging from $10 to $40 for LT / high quality girls and none of the girls complained. However, when you add drinks, food, and taxi you should budget around $50-$60 per night.

If there is interest, I can write a more detailed trip report describing all the drama that I have with these girls, but I will need another week.

Given the paucity of reports on Ivory Coast, this is a very nice report; thanks for sharing Palomo. I think several here would enjoy reading any followup report you offer in the form of detailed quarries. Thanks again.

My 10 year vaccination expires on the 27th. Does anyone know if the consulate is a problem on this issue? I just do not want to go get it again as I will travel 1st week in Sept.

Also, service apartments, I have found some in Cocody for 10000 and 15000 per day. Any thoughts on this?

Once you're in the country, it's always a good idea to carry small amounts of cash in different pockets. That way, when you get shaken down, you can reach into any pocket and say that is all you have left. Some other officer just took the rest a few hours ago.

I never recall getting ill from the shot itself aside from slight soreness at the injection site. I just did a bunch of push ups and went about my business. Those airports that actively check if you have a current immunization always have their medical staff on hand to administer the shot, at a price, to those who are out of periodicity.

Here is a longer report of my recent trip to Abidjan with a more detailed description of my interactions with the girls. I have read many of the reports of Pat Benetar and Scot123 learning a lot in the process, so I am happy to comply with their request. I hope that the report is not too long.

Trip: Around 2 weeks. I was there for work and I only have time for the hobby in the evenings. I also could not stay very late, since I have to go to work by 8:30. I usually return to the hotel around 18:30. My hotel was in a residential neighborhood far from zone 4.

Preliminaries: I read this board and check the St Germain (sp?) web page. My plan was to go to St Germain.

Night 1: A driver picks me up at the airport and takes me to the hotel. I arrive late to my hotel and I noticed that next to my hotel there was a place that looks like a bar with girls. I check into my room and go directly there. The place was empty except for 6 girls. 3 of the girls were fat with big buts which were not my taste. The other 3 were more proportional and one of them was really pretty (Domi, who was an 8 in my scale). I also found attractive Elvi (7) and Mapi (6.5). As soon as I walk into the bar, the girls swarm to me. I was able to dodge the fuglies, but no Mapi who sits next to me. She tries to sell me a bottle of whiskey ($40) , but I refused and instead I buy $1.50 local beers for me and 4 of the girls. My goal was to get rid of Mapi and go to Domi without causing a scene. So I invite Domi to dance and we connected really well, even though I do not speak French and she does not speak English. I was very tired. I promised to see her next day, we kiss and I left.

My thoughts after 1 night in Abidjan: I have found gold in the most unexpected place and it is on my fingertips. This is too easy. I don't need to go to St Germain, I am going to score every night with Domi who based on the pictures is in the top 20% of the girls in St Germain. Things didn't turn out to be that way.

Day 2: I was able to get a sim card for my phone and change money. I go to the bar around 7 and my dreams unravel. First, Domi was attending another customer and Mapi came charging after me. I end up sitting next to Mapi again. Again Mapi wants me to buy a bottle of whiskey and I refuse. I stick to the local beer for all of us. I was keeping the company of the girls and spending little money. However, Mapi was all over me and I wanted to get rid of her and go to Elvi (I thought that I have lost Domi). I them came out with the great (terrible in reality) idea about asking how much will cost me for them to come with me to the room. Because we cannot communicate at all, Mapi calls the manager (Coco) to translate, since he can speak English. Although, at the beginning I was suspicious of Coco, we become friends immediately. Mapi wants $300 and Elvi gets offended saying that she is no that kind of girl. I tell Mapi to get lost.

Now I start talking with Coco and he tells me that this is not the right place to score. The girls in this bar work as barmaids until around 1:00AM and are not prostitutes in the open. However, every time a girl meets an older white guy, she thinks that her life is going to change and she will be all over this guy. Technically, she is not a prostitute, but she will ask you for a lot gifts. She will do the same to an African boyfriend. Coco knows of better places and better girls to score. Coco also says that the best place is zone 4, but it is far from where we are.

In the meantime Domi starts arguing with Mapi and a huge fight breaks out between the two. They rip each other hairs, broken glasses, blood, and so on. Security come to separate them and Coco tells me to leave. I find out the next day that both Domi and Mapi are fired.

Recap after 2 days: I found out later that I caused the fight by giving them both signals that I like them. If I wanted Domi, I should have made that clear to Mapi and wait for the customer to finish his drink then she will be mine. Instead I was touching all the girls creating the wrong impressions.

My problem is that now there are only four girls and I only like one (Elvi).

Day 3: I got Elvi all to myself and I have a great time. Coco tries to take me for a tour of Abidjan by night by I decline. This was a big mistake.

Days 4-7: I spent all my nights with Elvi and she sleeps with me. She does not ask me for anything but I give her between $20-$30. She never complains. Coco stops coming to the bar.

Recap after 7 days: I got tired of Elvi and there are better fishes in the pond. She is nice, but if I could go to St Germain, she will be average at best. On top of that, there was this rich guy (he was a local politician) who comes often to the bar with a 10 and I was there with a 7 (may be 6.5). I saw other mongers with 8s.

Day 8: I call Coco and explain my situation. He comes to my rescue and we quietly leave in a taxi. I gave Elvi some silly excuse. Because it was night and the language barrier, I could not tell where we were going. Finally, we arrive to this 'Dream Bar' that I describe in my previous post. Coco explains to me how it works. The girls have very little cloth and do some strip tease shows. If you buy a bottle of whisky they will come to seat with you. If you only buy beer, they will not come. They are also available for sex in some rooms in the back. There were around 40 girls and 80 guys. I was the only white person. The girls range from a 9 to several fuglies that African actually like. We buy a bottle of whiskey ($40) and in no times we have girls. This little spinner was all over me, but this time I wanted to be patient. Finally, the spinner notices that I was looking at this tall beautiful woman who was at least a 9. She tells me I will get you that girl (pros are not jealous). The spinner sits next to Coco and I get the prettiest one. We start kissing and so on. Now they start putting pressure on us to go to the back. Coco negotiates a $10 fee for each girl. I paid for his girl and my girl. I go to the back and have BBBJ and regular sex with my girl (I don't remember her name). It was more like a porn star experience than a girlfriend experience. After sex, she tells me that she needs to go, but she wants me to stay. I go back to the club and sit next to Coco and his girl. My girl has to do her show. She is pretty good and you can tell that this girl wants to be in porn. The crazy part is at the end of her show. She is naked and comes to me. She wants me to perform oral sex on her (DATY) in front of everybody. I do it. The DJ and everyone were screaming. She was moaning like a porn star. The next girl that performs also wants the same from me. This is too risky for my taste. Now I am ready to leave. She gives me her number, she wants me to call. She says that she will love to come to my hotel.

Recap of day 8: Even though this girl is a 9, she is a psyco and only thinks about sex. What if this shows up in youtube?

Day 9: After that night, I decide that I would like to go out with a normal girl that is at least an 8. I think of Domi. May be I can call her? I get her telephone number from one of her friends and I call her. She is very happy to hear from me. We arrange to meet. She is super fun and I really like her. She calls me her 'mari. ' She brings her sister who actually speaks English and she is also hot. We go out to a marqui and then to a discotheque (Blue Tooth). There we meet her sister's boyfriend who pays for half the whisky bottle ($40) and I pay the rest. A lot of kissing, but no sex.

Days 10-11: I go out with Domi every night, but I start to see a darker side of her. She starts to ask me about money all the time (l'argent!) to fix all her problems. I never gave her more than $20. She is also mean to other girls (she goes back to the bar and tells Elvi that now I am her man, Elvi is crushed but she does not get into a fight).

Recap of days 9-11: Domi is too much for me. She actually thinks that I am going to change her life. I have two days left. Also my co-workers at the office are planning for me a tour of zone 4 for the last day (Friday).

Day 12: Coco calls me. He wants me to introduce me to two girls. I tell Domi that I am sick and say yes to Coco. We meet in an European style restaurant, the girls are more educated than the previous ones. They have an associate degree and they have real jobs. They are also part time models. They are not 10's in my book. May be 8's. They speak some English. The name of my girl is Lynn and the other name is Benedicte. We have a good night and they wanted to go to a discotheque. I could not go, because it was already late and I have to wake up early in the morning. Lynn tells me that she is very comfortable with white men and she was engaged before with an older french man. She wants to meet the last day, but I have the tour of zone 4 that I was dreaming. I check Lynn on facebook (we are not friends, but I check her anonymously). She post daily and she has like 600 pictures there. I can tell you that she has many admirers and at least halve are white.

Day 13: The tour of zone 4, becomes a tour of Youpougon. They say zone 4 is too far away. We first eat at a local restaurant (marqui) , then they show me the remains of Rue Princess, we go to a few discotheques with no much action, and we end up in this discotheque that is basically empty. They say that the next week will be busier, because people will get paid. At this point I was thinking, this is a disaster I wasted my last night. Then I start noticing things. First, two of my co-workers have called their lovers. We are now 5 guys, but 2 have girls. Basically every man with a job here has a girlfriend on the side. Second, because the discotheque was empty the barmaids start dancing with us. They tend to be the prettier girls in the disco. One of them was really pretty (8. 5) and she notice that I was looking at her. Suddenly, she comes and sits next to me. We start dancing and then we start talking with the help of one of my friends who translate. Her name is Sandra. She then brings the topic that she would like to see me again the next day. She works until 6:00 and she promise to come to my hotel at 13:00. I need to leave my hotel by 18:00. To my surprise she comes and she is really good in bed. I gave her $30 and she seems happy. I wish if I had met her earlier.

Miscellaneous: Around my 10th day there my co-workers took me to this local restaurant who was very close to the strip tease bar that I visited earlier by chance. I notice the amount of beautiful girls in that area. There are many of those marquis over there. My co-coworkers told me that was prime area to get girls. I wish if they should have taken me there the first day.

Final thoughts: I am desperate to go back. There are plenty of girls for all tastes, as long as you like black. The worst part for me is that I only scratch the surface. I made many mistakes. I saw many mongers with really pretty girls. I could have done much better. I also saw former mongers that have actually married these girls, so be careful.

That IS quite a report and thank you for sharing your experiences. I hope you do not mind me making a few comments that might enhance your sexual encounters.

You might consider using dating websites e. G. Badoo, Tagged, AfroIntroductions or AI (AI is my favorite though you must pay membership fee with AI to correspond with ladies vs the former two which are free). One advantage of the websites is you can confirm the woman is literate (at the very least a soft indicator the woman has some measure of sophistication). The second and really most important reason to correspond (for me) is within a few exchange of messages and a decent dialogue you can begin to get a measure of the woman's social skills, values and so on. This is limited of course, but IMO can be much more effective than for example meeting strangers in a bar, particularly after they've been drinking.

A third very useful reason to correspond is typically the ladies profiles will (SHOULD!) include several photos and you can get a guage for how attractive the women you intend to meet are. Do not correspond with women with only ONE photo unless they are willing to email / post more photos or have a facebook account with more photos. This is key to avoid scam artists. The BEST (most reliable) girls reveal photos with family and friends indicating a high index of authenticity. If you meet a woman who is NOT accurately represented by the photos she posts on her profile, terminate the engagement immediately; maybe buy her a soda or whatever and tell her you have an unexpected meeting for work etc. Have several ladies lined up so you do not waste an entire evening etc.

My last comment goes back to the bar; I do not like to be with any woman who drinks. Even if the woman is a nice lady, alcohol can make a good girl crazy. Yes, she may get crazy in a good way, but all too often she can get crazy in a bad way too. Broken glasses and bloody bar fights I suspect is something you can probably live without.

You should also go to Grand Bassam (very close to Abidjan) and Asinie Mafia (close to the limit to Ghana). They are two beach towns and very nice. You should not have problem finding girls in those places. May be you can take a girl from Abidjan.

15,000cfa per night for Cocody is a great deal. I paid $28,000cfa per night in Cocody. However, let me warned you that Cocody is not in the center of the action. Older wealthier people live there. You can still have a lot of fun in Cocody, but not as much as other neighborhoods. If you are adventurous, I will recommend Youpougon. People who live there are famous because they like to party. It is not a poor neighborhood, despite what you may read in lonelyplanet. It is a middle class neighborhood. You can find great value here, because there no many whites. If you are more cautious, I will recommend something that is close to zone 4 such as Marcory. Here is where WG rule and where most of the well-known establishments (St Germain, Taxi Brousser.) are located. You will find more competition for the girls and likely higher prices.

If you are set on Cocody, I will highly recommend go to this area very close to this grocery store called 'Leader Price. ' It is a one block street full of marquis and a strip tease bar called 'Dreams Bar. ' The general area is called Riviera Golf. Try to be there around 19:00, there should be plenty of girls in the marquis and if everything fails you have the strip tease bar with WG.

Finally, two warnings:

1) They do check the YF vaccine card.

2) You need to be careful with taxis. They always try to screw you and they do not know where they are going. On top of that Abidjan does not have street addresses that you can mapquest. Every direction is 'close to this pharmacy' or 'close to that gas station'.

You are absolutely right about the drinking. However, in Abidjan the pressure to buy drinks is very high. Ivorian (non muslim) like to drink and party. Also there is no cover fee for bars or discotheques, they make the money on the drinks. If you don't buy a bottle of whisky, they will think that you are cheap. Drinking wine, champaign, whisky is a sign of status.

You need to go Abidjan, don't let the french have all the fun.

I thought perhaps I would post preparation fees not to get mixed in with more, (hopefully) substantial posts later. I'm scheduled to fly out of Tampa on Brussels, found a flight for $1603. Tax incl. And that was 4 to 500. Less than anything else so I booked it. The down side of the savings is the layovers. What is typically about 16 to 19 hours to ABJ. Will now take 30.

My stay is now scheduled for Sept 4th-28th.

He said the room was 25, 000. cfa per day and quickly I mentioned trip advisor, then threw my length of stay on there and told him I would be happy at 15000cfa. He kind of stammered out of nervousness, quickly recovered and said that since I was booking over 20 days I could have it for 15000. Cfa per day. He revised the invoice and sent me a paypal link.

Yellow Fever, as I had mentioned previously, mine expired Aug 27th, I called the health department here and was there when they opened at 7:30 a. m. I was 2nd in line and it all went smoothly $110. dollars later.

Visa, still waiting, $150.

You are absolutely right about the drinking. However, in Abidjan the pressure to buy drinks is very high. Ivorian (non muslim) like to drink and party. Also there is no cover fee for bars or discotheques, they make the money on the drinks. If you don't buy a bottle of whisky, they will think that you are cheap. Though spraying money on big drinks and stuff is a common theme to show status, you can still get away with it buying just beer or even juice simply by stating that it is your preference and if you don't like it, too bad! This puts you on a pedestal with women in general as they see that you are your own man and a challenge. And nothing intrigues hot girls like a challenge. My arrival went smoothly and make a note that the airport is very crowded and with my lack of French seemed to add some confusion on top of that.

I had planned on having Sarah whom I had met on the Afro website meet me but after seeing how crowded it was I waited.

I found a guy to call my apartment connection for a pick up and luckily he was there and waiting with a taxi. Taxi price was 10, 000cfa, I gave him a $20. USA and he was ok.

Cocody was supposed to be about 45 min. From the airport and with the traffic bumper to bumper at 8:30 pm it ended up taking about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The apartment is nice, although I saved a lot of money with the rate, I spend the difference in taxi fares and commute time.

If I had it to do again, I would choose somewhere else, closer to more activity.

Funny thing about Cocody, it is a very large area and street addresses are none existent, even the taxi drivers have to stop and ask whenever I want to return to my apartment.

I had Serge, my apartment manager telephone Sarah on our way home who has a job in a retail shop selling clothes and modeling as well. She told Serge by the time I take a shower, she will arrive, and she did just that.

The first photo she had sent to me as I would know what she looked like, the second photo, I took with my phone after arrival. I will not need to explain the others.

I stayed there 10 years ago and if I had to stay at a hotel again in Abidjan, that's the one I would chose. It is situated on the "airport side" of the city which is also a plus.

Do not assume you can shuttle between Abidjan and Grand Bassam on the same day. On the map it is close but the road leading there is congested. I wouldn't bother about Bassam if you purpose is to find girls.

There are girls and booths after dark. The girls there are extremely loving. I had a really really great time and have a couple of numbers from that place that I will definitely call next time I go or share if anyone is interested. But I recommend going there yourself. I thought this was a upper class area, many clubs and it's in cocody. There are many bars in this area with hostesses for take out.

Just got back from Abidjan and I thought I would share my experience.

I was positively surprised by the city. It was my first time in West Africa and I'd say Abidjan is a fairly secure spot.

Unfortunately I was there for work so not much time to explore the night scene.

I was lucky enough to hook with someone through Tinder (it seems it works in IC) so I managed to go out with this 27 yo beauty (lovely, firm, big tits) on a Wed night.

Despite not being the weekend, the 2 places we went to were vibrant with people and life.

We stayed in Zone 4 and we went to Alizee club first and then onto Saint Germain club. What I can say is that IC chicks are hot and beautiful, again a very nice surprise for me since it was my first time in this area of the world.

Since luggage took ages to arrive on the carousel, the time needed to process the visa arrival at Abidjan airport was not a total waste of time. Unfortunately there was no SIM-card seller on the inward side so the rest of the waiting time was wasted (my luggage and that of dozens of passengers took 40 minutes to emerge!)

I'd booked Ibis so I went straight to the Accor counter from where I was kindly escorted to a SIM-card provider. Getting the card took another half hour.

I was fully operational in my cramped Ibis Marcory Hotel room two hours after landing.

All exchanges referred to below were conducted in French. I have no idea if trying to conduct them in English would have led to any result.

[U]The discos[/U]

The cheap rund-down cabs (red cars) do not know their own ass from a hole in the ground and it often turned out an uphill struggle to drive to even the best knows spots. The two big names in this part of town are St Germain and Jimmy's. This was a Saturday so I expected the places to be well-attended. What I wasn't counting on was to find 4 times as many men as girls. The line-up ranged from 5 to 7 in quality. The men seemed mostly Lebanese and most of them seemed to have come to socialize among themselves rather than for hunting.

It was a couple of days until I was fully apprised of the system on which the discos in Abidjan operate. 90% of the girls I was seeing were "employed" by the disco, working from 17:30 until 05:00. No barfining system was in place: discos found letting girls leave with a customer had their license revoked for facilitating prostitution! Why did the girls bother to come to work at all given that they were reportedly paid a paltry 5000 Euro/day? This was little more than taxi money.

The answer was that working in such a place was conducive to "meeting someone interesting". Could that "someone" be me? Surely if girls were paid no decent wages for their time they should be all the more anxious to do tricks outside working hours.

I discovered this was not the case. One stunner at Jimmy's had given me her Whatsapp. Like the other girls she was required to leave her smartphone in the cloak room but she knew her number by heart. We agreed she would visit me at the hotel the next day at 3 pm.

When the time came she texted me calling the appointment off. I wanted to check whether promising a fixed amount would have her reconsider so I said "tomorrow then, let's set the deal at 30 000". To my surprise I got an awfully misspelled answer adorned with a string of angry emoticons signifying me in no way did she ever do "such things". "Well I for one do such things" I said, trying to keep things cheerful. "In fact I do such things all the time". She got back with a barely intelligible pre-recorded message overflowing with fake drama and umbrage taking. She had also, I noticed, changed her Whatsapp avatar to one where she was seen against a backdrop of jewellery and designer shoes.

That was it then: disco stunners worked "to meet someone interesting" but had no intention of engaging in straightforward P4 P.

[U]The strip joints[/U]

Aptly called "bars a string" in French for obvious reasons these are shacks with no more than 5 or 8 girls. In Vert Diamand (near Petit Cafe) the psychedelic lights made for a wicked atmosphere and beer was at 2000 CFA. As soon I entered I got pounced upon by BBW MILFs. I agreed to pay one of them a beer but 4 were ordered and had to be paid for. They immediately set to work on my reluctant crotch (and my pockets?) with their hands. ST rooms were available but given the poor quality of the girls and the fact that I was carrying things I could not afford to lose (passport, smartphone) I didn't chance it.

Toi et Moi had a slightly different set-up. No psychedelic lights but a dance pole. When I got in one of the 4 girls was giving a local guy some kind of lap dance. Skinny and rather ugly was how I'd rate her, maybe a 4 on the mongering scale. I ordered a drink and left almost immediately but the lap-dancing girl followed me out proposing to go back with me for the night. She was not what I'd flown here to fuck but it was getting late and she was friendly and eager. In the room though she shrank back from intercourse or DATY and stuck to give me BJ + rimming. I suspected menstruation. Rather than risking being fined by the hotel for messing up their bed I decided to dismiss her with the promised 30 000 CFA plus taxi money. She made a bit of a fuss at this, no doubt hoping to extract more money from me.

The two areas in this part of town are Rue du Canal and the street behind the Cap Sud shopping mall. Girls ranged from 3 to 6 and very few were below the age of 30. None of these SWs carry IDs so bringing them back to the hotel was out of the question. Luckily, and this is about the only positive point I have to report about my trip, Abidjan now has a good infrastructure of ST hotels. I don't remember the name of the place near Rue du Canal to which I brought a girl but girls will know (The name was something like "Kit'en" and it was well sign-posted). No ID asked, in fact no check-in, you just pay 10 000 Euro for a very decent room equipped with a wall mirror, a bath room and a TV with porn. If only there had been young hotties along that road instead of hardened older hacks that ST hotel would have seen me every night!

On Saturday when I first cruised for SWs the police were out with a van scooping girls up. I was told they fine them 50 000 CFA and let them loose again. Frequent raids of this kind could explain, among other things, why the girls prefer not to carry any ID.

[U]Outcalls[/U]

Drawing a blank in my nightly forays I googled "Abidjan masseuse" to get some daytime action. The only good thing that could be said about the ads is that the pics were not photo-shopped. As you can see for yourself eg on "leportail.ci" the pics do not show catwalk models and catwalk models they weren't.

On Sunday only one in five listed numbers had someone picking up the phone. On week-days 2 in 3 answered. The quoted price was 50 to 60 thousand CFA for ST, in other words 100 Euro. I had 5 such girls visiting me. One had quoted 40 thousand but turned out to do massage with happy-ending only. She was the better looking of the 5. One stood me up wholesale. When I enquired with the Viagra already peaking she lamely said she had no ID so couldn't come to my hotel. She couldn't be bothered to call me back.

Unreliable, average-looking, not cheap, that's the state of things with outcalls in Abidjan.

One did CBJ, the other ones indifferent BBBJs. This made me realize how spoilt punters with a blow-job fetish have been in Germany these last years.

[U]Daytime venues[/U]

What do you with oneself all day in such a shithole of a city?

Three shopping malls of sorts were within easy reach of the hotel. In two of them (Prima and Cap Sud) I didn't spot a single likely target. At Carrefour Palayce I spotted some girls in groups of 3 or 4 who from a distance seemed vaguely to have noticed me. It never developed further than that: I had not come this far to have to fall back on sophisticated PUA techniques I've never mastered anyway.

Only on the Satuday of my return flight, in the big court room where I was whiling away a couple of hours after checking out of my room, did a MILF with a goofy figure try to get my phone number. She must have laboured under the misapprehension I'd seated myself to my pizza next to her in the hope of hooking up. She lamented I was leaving that very day otherwise we might "have had some good time together". I for one didn't lament anything and my return flight couldn't have come sooner.

In 2002 this hotel had struck me as very girl-friendly with even some girls waiting outside after dusk. He'd supervised the vetting of the IDs of the two thirtyish 3rd choice girls I'd had over late at night so he thought that gave him the right to some of my money. I don't have any other hotel to recommend though, lack of proper hotels being another aggravating feature of African cities that is only getting worse.

It was suggested nightlife could have been compromised because my stay coincided with a major event (Jeux de la Francophonie) but I doubt that was the whole story. A paradigm shift in man-woman relationships is taking place in black Africa for sure.

In 2002 when I first visited Abidjan it had been a swinging place as good as Douala (Cameroons), with plenty of night spots full of eager and strikingly beautiful freelancers.

Dakar had been disappointing but Abidjan beat Dakar by a landslide in terms of disappointment. In one week of educated mongering I wasn't able to get my head between a single pair of beautifully-shaped chocolate ass-cheeks. All I could rake up was third-choice second-hand hopelessly overpriced pussy. I had contemplated retiring here where I own half of a building plot (one of the purpose of this trip) but I am now immune to any such temptation. Unlimited access to the local female talent would be the only reason to take up residence here and that access is no more.

I put the matter to a woman from Benin who now lives in France and whom I helped immigrate to Europe years ago. During her latest visit home in Cotonou she was aghast at the number of local hotties driving their own car and conspicuously flush with money. Is the cash being showered on Africa by the US, the UN, the EU and the Chinese biting in and pricing the girls out of reach of the white middle-class? Or are girls now getting rich on micro-payments from the Wankosphere? All the same, the slums are not getting smaller and the thought that they must be brimming with local talent rotting away in abject poverty while I sit downtown on my wad of 50-Euro banknotes is infuriating.

On a different and sobering note, why would I, an ageing sex maniac of no great wealth or success in life, be entitled to the Earth's best female flesh just because of the colour of my skin and a pile of funny money in a hotel safe? Tens of thousands of young healthy handsome local chaps have a better claim and they may now be getting the last laugh.

Abidjan is expensive for almost everything. Local currency Cfa franc pegged to the Euro and this makes things way more expensive.

I think you are correct in saying that the girls are all resting in their homes, I would not call them slums though. Working class residential areas in Africa are not the same as in Europe but are inhabited by fine friendly and warm people. I have found a lot of girls in these areas and they absolutely love white people.

I don't think you will find girls here if you stay in a 100 euro per night ibis or frequent clubs and strip bars. I found that walking around the residential areas of Abobo and Yopougon to be easy and safe and 40 % of the girls there will respond to flirting and flattery then just harvest numbers and play the field. Of course you need decent French but once you are in you will not regret it.

I would like to confirm that "Club Alizee" is an excellent place for a night out in Zone 4 Abidjan. Even during the week the place gets pretty busy and some of the waitresses are really pretty, open for conversation and much nicer than some of the pros that you will find there. I would also recommend that you find your own trusted taxi driver instead of using the taxis waiting in front of the club. If your hotel is in Zone 4 / Bietry you should not spend more than 1000 to 1500 FCFA for a trip.
