I have grown up middle class with low expectations and don't really want much more than my parents have, but with better money management and more technology oriented than my parents I can get more out of less and still have the same lifestyle, once I figure out what I need to do to bring in that kind of income.

Driving a truck is similar to your life of living out of your carry on luggage. I wasn't as successful as I wanted to be with it and that's purely my fault. But I could have had a life of driving 21 days with 2 days off which would have morphed into 2-3 weeks paid vacation per year at $38k-$40 a year within 3 years.

I drove for a total of 1.3 years for two companies and it looks like I won't get a 3rd Strike, so I gave back my Class A when I had to re up for my license. I could have kept it, but what was the point? None of the top companies would hire me and I couldn't convince my father before he passed away (he promised to help me purchase a truck of my own) or my stepfather (who drove for the City of LA) to get off his rusty dusty and run cross-country with me for a few years as a Owner-Operator (where the REAL money is).

So I'm basically back to square one and back to earning near min. wage positions.

At this point I guess my lack of upper education is having an impact on everything, from the money I have, the cars I have, the place I live, even to the women I can (or feel I can) date.

I have come to the conclusion that finding the answer in "small town" America isn't worth the time and effort. Unlike you, your getting assigned to an area and don't have much control over that (Lemons? Make Lemonade). Your expenses are covered or refunded to you by your employer. I can overcome some of this with the internet but as I knew already the best women don't have to use the internet to date, they already have plenty of suitors they just have to pick and choose.

What you have online with women from America and Canada largely are women for whatever reason can't find a decent man locally. Weather its time management issues, career goals or social/mental issues, these are the runts of the litter. There are "Diamonds In The Rough": the cutie working at Wal-Mart with no drive or desire to achieve because there's no examples close to her to gain ideas from.

But those Diamonds are hard to mine and like with real Diamonds if they were easy to get, everybody would have one or two.

So at the end of the day, If I'm a looser but don't think I am I need to combat this uphill struggle the best way I know how. For men that are small thinkers this means downgrading your standards. For me, its taking on the additional risk and expense of foreign women.

I know a lot of people who work for KBR. One of the nicest expats I have met worked for KBR for 5 years earning about $12,500 a month. He is now retired at 28, and living very comfortable in Manila. I know a guy who has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a secondary degree in carpentry who has been trying to latch onto them for years.

Most of the employees are not lowly people or trash as one poster puts it they are just people trying to get their slice just like everyone else.

oh i agree and i went to kbr's web site long ago, i no longer have my class a however.

it work has interest me before, i just might have to go that route, lord knows i don't mind being on the internet and yes my friends that have worked it download porn and music all day long assuming the system is running properly your job is done. of course downloading porn/movies/music at t1 or t3 speeds means you wanna keep the system up as to not be bothered but for the occasional printer or monitor replacement...

The real truth is most KBR employees (and other Gov hired companies) hired after the invasion are ex-military which gives them connections to jobs after your tour of duty is up. They already know you don't mind a "War Zone" and having a complete newbie in the area might scare him enough to the first chance he/she gets to come home, they do and never come back, even at $10K a month for some personal safety is far more important... Meaning going back into the pool of potential employees again, paying for plane tickets, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Its not so much they want truck drivers, they want truck drivers that have experience in war zones or dangerous environments. All the major carriers state side are setup to grab ex-military as they are discharged to offer them jobs because they and their families are used to them being away from home. There are thousands of truck drivers that have military backgrounds, those are the people getting jobs with KBR and the other companies.

A person can become a millionaire over night does that instantly change them as a person? Deion Sanders once said money only makes you more of what you already are. I had a buddy who I use to party with in Pattaya who was non ex-military and he got a job with some company not KBR in Iraq paying about $20,000 a month. This guy had no college degree and was under 24. Yeah he was from the hood.

So when the lower class guy gets a six figure job is he still lower class or what about the Wall Street Broker who is let go by his firm and has to get a job at Mc Donald’s?

Why would a middle class or rich class (socioeconomically) person join the military? But some do. Most contracting positions are filled by people from all walks of life. I have met people with multiple degrees to some people fresh out of high school.

I know one guy who is contracting and has over million dollars in capital/real-estate assets.

First of all fellas. You have to have a college degree to be an officer in the military. So are all of them low lifes. And there are officers of every race.

Secondly there are a lot of people who just don't have money for college especially with the large number of single parent families now and the high cost of college. The military gives big sign up bonuses, free education while you are in the military and money towards your education when you leave.

For many its just another option to get an education also on the job training. Just about every job on the outside there is a military counterpart. Not everyone is in the infantry. There is IT, Medics, Admin, etc etc etd.

The military is no longer about just the poor and under class. You got it confused with the military of old. When there was a draft.

1. No, everything is not about money;however, there is a positive correlation between money, wealth, power, and beautiful women.

For most men, money is the easiest thing to get to attract hot women.

In the 2nd and 3rd world, the trappings of wealth make up about 85%-100% of the equation; in the first world, between 30%-80% of the equation. It's not so much about the Range Rover but about financial stability and security.

To argue the contrary is asinine and unfruitful.


2. The vast majority of KBR type contracctors in war zones could not have a profesional career in the States or the developed world. KBR mostly looks for warm bodies. The quality of people is fairly low.

Military experience is not necessary to work for a KBR type firm--a pulse and non-felonious record is.

Most middle and upper class Americans will not work for and live under the conditions that KBR type people do in conflict zones. Some should, as one can make some major bank, but most won't.

The few that do are mostly adventerists, wonderlusts, or want to get the fuck away from their wives.

3. Yes, one can be a lower class dirtbag with money. One can also be a well edcuated and rich person with little class, but the former is more prevalent than the latter. A prime example that I recently observed was in Bishkek--KBR type Americans making 68k-80k a year who were uneducated, unsophisticated, and classless who turned off the local population en masse.

Not all of these guys are dirtbags, but too many of them are.
