the “big spender” is fast disappearing. unemployment, shrinking paychecks, and a depressed stock market will continue for a long time. easy credit is now a thing of the past. before, any idiot could go out and apply for a credit card, and then use it get cash advances to throw money around in the strip clubs and purchase airfare to mongering destinations. right now, most americans are too scared to even take their measly two weeks vacation because they might return only to find out that they have been downsized. even the ones who think they’re “solid” in their employment find the increased cost of air travel to be too rich for their budgets. corporate junkets have dwindled, and expense accounts are closely scrutinized. the façade of “having money” came crashing down for a lot people. guys who used scrape together money all year for a few nights of “living big” in a third world fleshpot can no longer afford that luxury. the weakened dollar has also dampened their desire throw around money that they need to stave off the repo guy and the eviction notice from their landlord. the addition of new passport regulations also means that guys must go through the trouble of filling out forms, taking photographs and paying fees before they obtain the required travel documents to visit neighboring countries. all of these things have cut back on the number of impulsive spenders hitting mongering locations abroad. the travel numbers clearly show this.

living in a third world residence means always being one natural disaster away from hopping into the casket. non-existent or unenforced building codes mean you may wake up buried under the collapsed walls of your mansion in the event of an earthquake, hurricane or tsunami. rising fuel prices will drive up the cost of building materials and builders will be tempted to cut corners even more, further exacerbating the problem. that grand mansion that costs a fraction of what it would in the states could well become your final resting place.
