I'm pretty sure men with means (disposable income) going outside of their marriages for strange was not really talked about or even that big of a deal until the women's lib movement. It was accepted that it was going to happen, and all women really cared about was how he was at home. I'm not speaking from experience, as I wasn't even alive back then, and my father isn't from the US.

Poor men had to remain faithful, as they wouldn't really have the financial means to support a mistress and wouldn't attract nearly as many women as their richer counterparts.

Demonizing and even criminalizing maleness in our society is getting out of hand lately.

I think people who didn't have lots of money just went to the *****house and called it a day, and there were TONS of them around all over any city....

Supply and Demand...

America and to large extent UK are STRANGE places socially and its not fair to compare them to Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Asia or South America.

While all these places have more women than men, the social results are much different.

a) Generally divorce is easier to get and higher rates in Western Countries.

b) Other countries, men correctly see the advantage of more women as more CHOICE. This leads to infidelity, less children being born, fewer marriages and much larger pool of single women of in all age brackets.

Men in other countries are not penalized for being Single, for not being Married, rarely have "Shotgun Weddings" and are valued much higher. I recently watched DW where they went to a village in Bulgaria and there was a Bride Market believe it or not. Could you imagine such a thing in Western Culture????

While there are more woman in US, I have some facts for you -

Of women under 40:

42% of Black Women have never been married
32% of Hispanic Women have never been married
22% of Caucasian Women have never been married

Considering 300 Million People and that's a SIZABLE CHUNK of the dating Pool that's Single. But you would hardly call that "paradise".

Most of those women are looking for imaginary people. You know "Corporate Thugs", Rich Bad Boys. Speaking of which, Sandra Bullock anybody?

Ummm ... please explain to me why infidelity leads to fewer children being born. And the US has a lower than average birth rate. Furthermore, it is for sure true that in many Asian and Latin societies a man is expected to marry to progress in the corporate world. At some point the boss will pull a promising single employee aside and have a chat with him about this.

And the US is the only advanced country that is reproducing in such a way as to maintain its population. I'm also reading ("America Alone," by Mark Steyn, the crux of which was that Europe is suffering from fatal population declines and will soon be overrun with Muslims.) that even within the US, the birth rate of Red States is higher than that of Blue States. I am not sure if infidelity has ANY effect on birth rate (at least not one that I can find on a brief perusal). Also not sure what you mean about men being expected to marry to progress in the corporate world. China (which is MOST of Asia) has the one child policy and has a rate of something like 1.82 children per woman. Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore are all close to 1.2 children per women. Waaaay below replacement rate.

Ummm ... marrying and having children are two different things, in case you were unaware.
