I can do from book you a hotel, to pick you up at the Airport,to have ads run in the paper for you (great and inexpensive way of making contacts, beats any expensive tour by far.)To take you out shopping,to a Bar or Disco, to a Restaurant,to take you out hunting and to the GENTLEMEN`S CLUBS.

In port Buenaventura 80% of the population lives in poverty. 78% is unemployed. And it has the country´s highest index of homicides per 100,000 citizens...
Anyway, Maharadjah and me took a 2-day trip there.
2-3 hrs ride from Cali in a van for 6 people. 18,000 COP per person.
After the first toll you´ll see tons of soldiers along the road every 5 minutes.

Not much to say about the place other than it´s not a good monger destination.

First night we stayed in hotel Estacion, a famous old colonial hotel. Kind of expensive though (150,000-170,000? I´ll double check later) and the next night we changed to another hotel (I forgot the name, I´ll see if I find it later when I go through my receipts) where we got a bigger room for 95k, two persons.
Most hotels and disco´s are all within walking distance, 2-3 blocks from each other. No need for cabs here. Capricorno is seen as the place to be by the locals. Expensive drinks though and it´s really really dark inside. Plus if you don´t buy a bottle, you can only sit at the bar and the bar wasn´t set up nice either. We got out and saw another disco on the corner of the opposite block. Lots of people going in and out. Great view from the bar at the dance floor. Good prices and great seats.
Other disco´s are Metao, Casas Viejas, Raices, Zarcada.
All disco´s are set up in the same way, lots of tables and to sit at a table you have to buy a bottle. Except if you sit at the bar.

As for the pro´s, you can find them at the club American Night and the disco right around the corner on the second floor and on the streets of that block.
Most of them were quoting prices in dollars. $20-40 for one pop. None of them is worth more than $15 for an hour in my opinion though. As Buenaventura is a port, there are a lot of ships coming in. Which is probably destroying the market. Surprisingly enough no black girls in there except for maybe 3. All other girls were from Pereira, Cali, Medellin and fairly ugly too. Next to American Night is a building were all the girls stay in little rooms. Kinda like a students house.

There is also Sala Masaje, a fancy place in the middle of a residencial area. Girls were asking 120,000 per pop. Bye bye... We were the only people there except for another gringo who like us just went in and out.

We also went to another place with an outdoor swimming pool which was used as disco at night called "club del puerto". It´s a 10 min. drive on the other side of the bridge in the middle of a residential area up the hill. I think we paid the cab about 6000 for the ride. The entrance fee was 3000 and even then people were complaining and trying to get in for free. I think about 70% of all people (500?) there were male and I was the only white person. There was no security at all, no searching at the entrance, everybody brought their own bottles.
It´s only place so far in South America where they were playing reggeaton and rap (mostly southside) music non-stop for over 30-40 min. They had a little choreographed dance show going on, 3 girls and 5 guys, nothing spectacular and everybody was pushing to see it. The audience in the back climbed up to the roof of the place to get a clear view. This place is defenitely not for everyone. Nobody gave me the staredown but I felt a lot of testerone in the place.

The best thing that happened to me in Buenaventura was in fact a black girl who worked in the hotels restaurant. I started to chit chat with her while she came up to bring our food.
It was about 10PM. She finished at 23PM and I asked her to join us to go out.
When I called her at 10.45PM she was already home though, but she said she would come over in a half hour. I fell asleep and her call woke me up. It was 1.15 AM. She was outside the hotel as there was nobody who opened the door. We went to disco Kristine, four blocks away (one block from hotel Estacion) which was kinda busy for a Sunday night. Because Monday was a puente. I bought a bottle of aguardiente for 27k. When I asked her if they had any lemonade, she took her money and went to buy herself and me some lemonade. And she asked if I wanted some nuts too. Sure. Of she went to buy them. This was the first time ever I had a girl in Colombia pay for something herself. I went to a small town called Zarzal (40.000 hab). It's about 2h30 from Cali, and it costs 12000 pesos by public transport.
I was invited by a friend of mine who has his family here,for the week end.
The road is safety and nothing especial to say, you can see some military on the way. The landscape is nice because you can see the valle of Cauca.

I visited also others towns -Paila-La Union-Ronadillo.

About girls, in each town you can find a small zona rosa . but the quality is average -comparing to Cali-

the positive point is that contact is very easy. Each time , the mother of my friend try to introduce me girls to find me a novia.

The better time is on WE where you can go to discotheque or bar and catch non-pro.

Every place the Spanish went they left Mayhem. The places the French went were'nt far behind the places the Spanish decimated if you look at the former French African and Asian possessions. Somebody please give me a reason to go to South America because I am getting too old for the whole day in a plane to get to the PI or Thailand. I have seen a few good pics, but Brazil is almost as expensive as US booty for hire. You can get a fun well built sisters or Korean in the US for the same price as these horror stories I read about in Brazil. OK, Brazil is an Industrial Power, but not a Spanish one!!

I would suggest for you just going to Cartagena as it is an easier more relaxed destination for tourists. Prices are more but that's normal anywhere.

I was in Colombia in the 70's and Santa Marta and Cartegena were shit holes. Bogata was a depressing place, but good discos w/culu caliente, and decent brothels. Cali and Medallin were much nicer. Somebody here at ISG posted some really nice photos of gals in Med and Cali. That is going to be my Christmas trip.

I think Cucuta and Norte de Santander is heavy para military zone. Not a problem for gringos/yanks just don't go wearing Che Gevera (sp) t-shirts around them.

That is one of the most dangerous areas in the entire country. Even President Uribe's visit was cut short due to security concerns and he stayed inside a heavily fortified military base the entire time he was in Cucuta. Aside from FARC, criminals and paras, there is the little matter of the border skirmishes with Venezuela that often result in exchanges of gunfire!

Ask locally in Bucaramanga to get the MOST current info, but I would tread VERY lightly up thataway.
