Its a good point. I grapple with it myself. In addition to the prurient interests, RK's point might also exist for other systems. For example, almost the entire country has an un-potable water system. Its probably not safe for foreigners to drink tap water most anywhere in Phils. In the area where I live, everyone here (including most locals) drink filtered / bottled water. What's that? You'd like to have a constant fresh supply of drinkable tap water like other countries? Me too, but that would require upgrades in well systems and chemical additives, adding to the cost of living here.

Another system we have complained about here is the road system (or the lack thereof). To few roads, too many broken roads, and too many cars on the road, leads to terrible traffic. You'd like to be able to drive to the local 7-11 today for a 6-pack of beer in your shiny cool vehicle, and get back home in 20 minutes? Me too, but its 45 minutes round-trip to the convenience store 1 km away from me in the daytime. Traffic jams abound. You want the government to fund a better road system? Another added cost of living here.

You want the place to be clean, with better trash pickup, with good schools, good roads and airports; good basic infrastructure, like Singapore? Be prepped to pay Sing prices.

Girls who understand the risks of transmission of STIs and possible pregnancy (ie, those with some education) want condoms to be used. When a girl indicates that she will not have unprotected sex with a guy who has been with lots of other girls, she exhibits a level of educated awareness and gets criticized for it.

If guys with dodgy recent sexcapades want to bareback with girls whose previous history is unknown, then they must be prepared to set the bar low and realize they are reaping the benefits of a failed education system.

Overall I find Manilla and LA Cafe to be a real disappointment. Spent a fair amount of time there last summer and found the attitude of the girls, the overpriced and low level of looks in LA Cafe to be the norm now and not really worth coming all the way to the Philippines just to visit Manilla. Spent a fair amount of time on Burgos street last summer personally I didn't think the looks of the girls in gogo bars was any better than some of the better looking girls in Angles but the prices were crazy as much as 8000 pesos and more. Took one girl last summer from a gogo on Burgos. They keep the lights dim in the gogos on burgos and the girls look better in the dim lights than they do in clear lights. Paid the outrageous price for a girl I thought was an 8 in looks only to see her in the clear light and she was a 6/7 in looks. She agreed to bare back in the bar but once in the room put up some resistance but then agreed. She agreed to long time but then left after one boom boom. As for freelancers on Burgos about 90% of them were ladyboys and of the actual women that were there about 90% of them seemed to be 30+ in age. Had a late flight into manilla did not arrive until after midnight. Getting a ride from the airport to my hotel was a nightmare full of frustration but eventually arrived at my hotel very late. A quick google search lead me to an electronics store in a mall, where unfortunately they were unable to assist but suggested I try a discount store two floors down.

The young sales lady there dragged me down the back of the store and suggested a product I was a little hesitant about. She ripped it out of its packaging and said it will work. Which it did.

She then said, "What's my reward?"

You can easily find girls in metro manila with great attitudes. Just look in areas outside the western red light areas. If you're feeling adventurous, pick any of them, go stay there and start looking around. Quezon, Taguig, Pasig: there are many options.
