Thanks. Too bad these places are far away from most of the action on Sukhumvit.

I just did a ST at Ruamchit hotel above Thermae, it is legitly a nice hotel that is clean and modern for $800 baht which is for room and comes with condoms apparently.

    Worthy suggestions but

    Dan,

Both your suggestions have merit, but I would suggest "a carvery of LBs" in view of the amount of spit-roasting going on.

    Collective noun

The reason they like it is the access from Soi 4 without having to pass reception. 3 or 4 will stay at The Grace or similar with their wives and families and book 1 room at Lohas building 2 or 3 for a boys party. They will then hoover up a (what is the correct collective noun?) bunch of LB's for a gang bang, with the emphasis on bang.
    Thanks for that.

Avoid Building 2 and 3 for sure then. I stayed in Building 1 where accessing to the elevators you are more likely to encounter staff but not actually passing reception either so YMMV.

Perhaps a 'bitchiness of LBs' as a collective noun.

    Just why they like it

I like the location, it is quiet and although the address is Soi 2 there is a pedestrian entrance from Soi 4 just past Omni Tower.

    Thanks.

There is a Google review from about a year ago from some guy who endured this. He was lucky, security didn't open the door. My experience was far more graphic and unpleasant. Like him I found management to be blasse about the issue, and staff saying it happens repeatedly.

Old Dutch is gone and replaced by Kazy Kozy, so its not that. It was not really opposite Bacarra anyway. I guess there is a small restaurant after Cock'a'too bar, that is hardly noticed. Google suggests a name Spritz, but I don't know if that is correct now or not. Forgot to have a look last night as was a bit drunk.

    Hotel recommendations

    Hi guys,

I usually stay at the Pullman Asoke and go to Soi Cowboy but this trip have a one nighter and meeting friends so first going to Hooters Siloam then Nana Plaza for girlie bars. Is Crowne Plaza Lumpini cool if I turn up at 4 am with 2/3 girls or any recommendations within walking of Nana. Looking 4 Or 5 star. Thanks in advance.

Penny Black also on Cowboy has ST rooms, however I won't say they are any better than Asoke Place. I prefer Asoke Place for subtle reasons. Did not notice mirrors. Soi 4 and Soi 7/1 Aspira have ST rooms, as does Ruamchit Hotel at times. I really down know much about mirrors.

Yes Asoke Place is low end. It has a bed, aircon, bathroom, toilet. As long as I am not stabbed by bedsprings poking through, or a very smelly drain, I am okay I have seen absolutely foul ST Hotel rooms in the past elsewhere. There are probably higher class rooms elsewhere. Maybe PB Hotel (sub soi off soi 3) is a good one to try and ask for mirrors.

You can't meet all your requirements for standard and nearness and still be ST prices. If too fussy, take a normal Hotel.

At the risk of repeating myself.

Grand Sukhumvit is reported as not joiner friendly.

Dynasty Grande was OK last I stayed (3 years ago) but was getting to the "in need of a refurb / refresh" and their rates got to be uncompetitive.

Other options:- Citrus Suites (pretty new) or Phachara Suites on Soi 6, both good and joiner friendly but maybe above your budget depending on travel dates.

SM Grande Residence on Soi 4 just down from the Soi 6 turning had ok serviced apartments, although slightly aging. Far better value than Omni Tower further down.

Ibis (between The Dawin and Omni Tower) rates seem to have dropped a little. I guess the newish Novotel and Ibis Styles (same group, Accor) may have cannibalized some of their trade. Plus point, it's an Ibis so you'll know exactly what to expect. Negative point, it's an Ibis!

Lohas Residence should be avoided. Used to be very good but has now become the "go to" for our Middle Eastern friends when they want to behave in a fashion which would not be tolerated around Sois 3 - 5. Management couldn't care less.

Talk me into enduring it for 2 nights or please suggest a similar place for $50-$70 for a Wednesday and Thursday night. Thanks in advance!
