Are LK doing renovations? I booked 2 weeks there in September. I'd rather be spared renovation noise.

By the way is Somerset's pool deep enough? I mean shoulder-deep? Or is it an "infinity" pool like in most high-rise hotels?

Somerset pool is about 1. 8 m deep only. The usual token infinity pool. Overall not bad. But I think its quite open for the 24th floor. WINDY!

LK renovations not that major. But for some reason there is stench. Like water / sewage leaks and a dampness in the room. Stayed there once. Loved it. Next stay I had to leave. So 50-50.

Blackwoods is in a very noisy location, which I don't like. I'm not a night owl.

I'm considering to book the Altera Hotel for my upcoming trip. It gets rather good reviews on Tripadvisor, but there are no recent reviews mentioning the wifi. Is it fast and steady?
I have to do some work during my holiday, so I need good wifi. Alternatively I can use the bluetooth tethering of my phone to connect to, but that didn't work very well last time I was in Thailand (April).

I stayed there for two nights recently.

The first night they upgraded me to a suite room in their second building. I thought the room was very good with a good wifi too.

I extended for another night and moved to a standard room very close to the suite. I wouldn't recommend to stay in that type of room, wifi was not very good in that room.

If wifi is very important, Blackwoods looked way better in my experience.

If Bluetooth doesn't provide the hotspot connectivity you need, you likely also have options to connect your computer through WiFi or USB. The USB typically works best for my situation.

I stayed there twice already. I don't remember having any problem with the WiFi.

I'm planning on returning to Pattaya for the first time in 6 years in October. Staying for a week before a few nights in Bangkok.


I'm looking at a number of hotels and was wondering if anyone had stayed in these hotels. I have it narrowed down to the following;.

Siam at siam.

Hotel Vista.

Mecure.

Mytt.

I stayed at SiamSiam in 2022 and enjoyed it. Rooms are clean and spacious. The pool area is nice and shaded with sick views of the ocean, good gym for a hotel and the location is good right on the baht bus and a short walk to the beach or T21.

Flipper Lodge and thank you for the head up so I can correct myself. No one would have been able to figure out what I was talking about or find it on google maps otherwise. LOL.

VT6 is still the best.

LK empress. Become a dump with smelly and damp rooms. Had to check out after a night. Still 100% girl friendly.

Moved to Somerset pattaya. Great rooms, great bed, excellent breakfast. Very stick but girl friendly. 100% check in with ID and call you before releasing it to them. I kinda liked this.

Huge price gap between the 2, but if within budget, somerset pattya ticks all boxes inc an excellent location.

LK was great. Hope they finish their renovations and up their game again.

Natural Beach Hotel

A hotel that I did not like. Cannot recommend it. Hard to put my finger on exactly why I did not like it. Rooms were small. Two twin beds I had to push together. I just got a bad vibe from the place. Stayed there two nights. It just did not represent a good value to me. Especially after staying in the Flipper Lounge.

A hotel that I did not like. Cannot recommend it. Hard to put my finger on exactly why I did not like it. Rooms were small. Two twin beds I had to push together. I just got a bad vibe from the place. Stayed there two nights. It just did not represent a good value to me. Especially after staying in the Flipper Lounge.

3. Natural Beach Hotel (cannot recommend).

I have one more hotel to try before I declare my all time favorite hotel for the area.

A comment was made which by passive aggressive inference implied that I am a dead beat because I am writing hotel reviews.

Doesn't your alter ego Forty Drinks (AKA: BBFS guy; AKA Edward Tenderfoot realize that I don't live in Thailand? That I have never visited Thailand? That everything in my posts are made up stories with geographical details that are gathered from Google maps?

Now you and your ilk can choose to believe this Although your beliefs would be shattered by just meeting me at the Bus Bar and having a drink. I got the first round. Man to man conversations can ensue.

I have friends that have lived in Pattaya a long time that only get chicks from gogos and only take them to short time love motels like Viva. They do not want to stay the night with them and they do not want them in their homes.

Now, may I get back to giving reviews based on my experiences?

Or would the majority of readers prefer for me to just STFU. Last time I checked I was not getting paid by the word to write these posts and make a contribution to the Thailand Threads. I do it because others have provided information to them that I have found useful and I wish to give back. The post by the OP above is an example. I did not know about Viva until he mentioned it.

Maytara Hotel

Maytara was almost the first hotel I booked on my very first trip. They're still using some of the same photos from nearly 10 years ago! I opted for Tweet Tweet Nest on Soi 8 instead as Soi 7 and 8 were 2 hot sois way back when. Here's a video looks like Tweet Tweet Nest is called The Weekend now. The rooms were nice nearly 10 years ago.
