That being the case, it is no wild coincidence, bizarre "economic cycle" or pro Dem / anti Repub magic that every Great Depression, Great Recession and Massive Jobs Destruction and none of the historic opposites of those results in the past 100 years have all occurred under and as a direct response to economic policy and stewardship of Repub presidents while in those same 100 years none of those historic declines have occurred under Dem presidents but only the historic boom times and job gains. And that is regardless whether a prez of each party serves 4 years, 8 years, 12 year or 16+ consecutive years (Harding / Coolidge / Hoover, FDR / Truman, Reagan / Bush1). Therefore, so much for that bizarre "economic cycle" excuse.
The reason is that Repub economic policies and stewardship as exemplified and directed by the Repub potus produces crap results while those of the Dem potus produces far superior results. Practically without so much as a 1 year exception.
Presidents matter. A lot. Anyone who does not think so is certainly welcome to "stand back and stand by" without voting from now on with my blessing even though they don't need it.
BTW, I would not hold my breath waiting for a potential future so-called president Trump to do anything helpful or positive for you or anyone else on this site or in the USA on the matter of crypto or anything else. Unless your name is Putin, Xi, Kim or you are currently serving prison time for storming the Capitol, attacking and trying to kill cops in order to overturn a free and fair election and overthrow American democracy.
He did nothing regarding crypto the last time. That is only an empty Trump campaign "suggestion" or promise made to gin up minority and youth voter support, the demos most interested in the crypto thing.
File it in the same BS folder as him building a wall and making Mexico pay for it, proposing and passing ANYTHING for 4 consecutive years of Infrastructure Week, getting at least 1 net gain job created instead of 1 million fewer jobs created for the $2. 5+ Trillion he added to the deficit with his one and only idiotic Repub tax cuts and jobs act legislation (I assure you a Dem President's policies would have created Millions and Millions of Jobs with higher wages for that $2. 5 Trillion expenditure), that his trade war with China would be great for USA manufacturing and Agro (he had to send them emergency welfare checks just to keep them afloat. As president. Before Trump's Pandemic), and, of course, that highpoint of Trump / Repub presidential economic and national security policy and stewardship campaign promise of being "the greatest job creating president of all time" by defunding and removing the highly regarded Early Warning / Pandemic Prevention teams from those Chinese labs in 2018 and 2019 against dire expert warnings not to do something so dangerous and stupid.

Posts: 2081Government produces nothing. Business owners and the people that work for them create the economy. POTUS has nothing to do with economic cycles or progress. Sometime they have a great idea (or copy one from other country) and builds a national highway system or dam that creates infrastructure that allows for greater productivity. Otherwise both parties just rob from those who are actually productive.

And higher taxes are good? LOL. They are good for people living on the dole. Anyone actually paying taxes is skeptical the government is going to call them rich and up their tax bill. And paid sick leave? Yeah, that is popular for the people getting it but not the majority having to pick up the slack. Biden has fought industrialization every step of the way. And since when has child care gotten more affordable with Biden? That is news to me.
And of course, Biden's ridiculous budget, printing up money and sending it abroad, and running trillion dollar deficits, and the inflation that it brought with it are not his fault? Yeah, we know from Biden that he thinks excessive government spending does not cause inflation, but his record shows clearly that it does.
The heart of the Texas economy is energy production, specifically oil and natural gas. Outside of Saudi Arabia and Russia, Texas produces more oil than any country in the world. And Biden has made it clear he wants that economy destroyed. Instead of discussing production with American companies, Biden drained the SPR and tried to cozy up to Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. The youtube site liberal hivemind had one time for its meme of the day had two gas stations near the state line, one in Nevada and one in California, with its respective prices. You do not need to guess which one was $6+ a gallon and which was $3+. $6+ a gallon gas is the wet dream of Democrats and Biden has shown it.
So the oil industry boom and reindustrialization, which is mostly happening in Northern Mexico and Southern red states, is happening because businesses are moving production back to the USA and away from China post-Covid because business learned Chinese supply lines were not dependable. The only credit Democrats should take for this is how they exacerbated this issue with their stupid lockdowns. Like with oil hiring, these are typically high carbon producing businesses that Democrats have said that they do not even want.
So I would answer the question the same was as everyone else. The Texas economy is doing fine after 2022. No shit there. The pandemic ended. But at the federal level, things are fucked up. I suspect car insurance is up because of so many illegal immigrants are making claims. The price of eggs and rent is up because of the money printing. Biden's answer to everything is throw money at it.
And now you have the lawfare campaign. OMFG. Using a lying porn star who talks to the dead to try to rig a presidential election? There was at least the illusion of faith that our criminal justice system was fair. That illusion no longer exists. It no longer matters what the rule of law is. All that matters is who the prosecutor and judge are. The smell of that bullshit, which every day shows us that Biden was behind, is not going to go away for decades if ever.

Finally, a branch of government has learned how to use its constitutional power to put a check on another branch of government irregardless of party. My hope is that they continue to do the right thing when it comes to crypto policy for the United States of America. Currently the world perception as a view it from afar is that USA is hostile to crypto. Countries are lining up for that business. It will do two things for them, provided economic development and a tool to shore up their own local currencies.

Posts: 5481Polls Show MSM Pro Repub Spin is Working as Intended
This is how it's done, folks.
A recent WSJ poll as well as others show the typically pro Repub Mainstream Media effort to help demonstrably, irrefutably provable disastrous economic results Repubs win elections on the generally key election issue of the economy is working as well on the perception of their American electorate target marks this time around as usual.
See, the typically pro Repub Mainstream Media's goal is always to repeat Repub (and now Putin / Kremlin) campaign talking points on the economy and their "winning" (but historically always losing and disastrously so) handling of the economy often enough without push back on the actual data, facts and reality, that voters will or might vote against a MSM-encouraged perceived but mythical "bad" economy under Dems even though their own personsl eyes, ears, experience and results wildly refute such a claim:
The Economy Is OK. Bidens Economy, Not So Much.
Today on TAP: Swing-state voters say their own states economy is humming, but the nations economy? Dont ask.
April 4, 2024
https://prospect.org/blogs-and-newsl...s-not-so-much/
Just in case you were feeling unaccountably perky yesterday, the release of The Wall Street Journals poll of seven swing states should have brought you suitably down. In the seven states the Journal polled, Biden trailed in six (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania) by between six and one percentage points, while coming in tied in Wisconsin. That these results resemble The New York Times swing-state poll of last November shows that these grim tidings are beginning to settle into concrete.
The concrete isnt fully hardened, of course, and the increasing focus that the Biden campaign and the media are giving to the abortion issue and (in the case of the media, one hopes) what Trump is actually saying still could concentrate enough minds to enable Biden to squeak through. But the Journal polls findings on Americans economic perceptions provide further cause for concern. By a 20-point margin (54 percent to 34 percent), the swing-staters preferred Trump to Biden on the question of handling the economy. Where this really becomes interesting, though, is in their responses to their own states economies.
Asked to assess the condition of the economy in their own state and then in the nation as a whole, respondents in each of the seven states replied that their own states economy was in far better shape than the nations. Those who rated their own states economy as not so good or poor did so at rates that ranged from 11 points to 33 points lower than their assessments of the nations overall economy. At one level, this shouldnt come as a surprise: It somewhat echoes other recent polls in which Americans have rated their own families economic condition to be notably better than the nation's.
Neither the swing states actual economic conditions nor the partisan makeup of state government seems to have had much effect on the respondents answers. All but one of the states (Nevada) have rates of unemployment that differ by less than 1 percent from the national unemployment rate. And Democratic Party policy per se doesnt seem to be a cause of discontent:
Four of the states have Democratic governors, and in another (Nevada again), Democrats control both legislative houses, though not the governors office.
That, too, shouldnt come as much of a surprise. The particulars of Bidens economic policies; higher taxes on the rich, re-industrialization, paid sick leave, affordable child care and collegeall poll very well. Its only when the name Biden is attached to peoples assessments of economic conditions that those assessments turn decidedly gloomy.
I dont mean to discount the widespread discontent over high prices generally, particularly of food, and the systemic unaffordability of housing, health care, child care, and higher ed. I dont mean to discount the fact that the president, any president, is held more accountable for such matters than any state-level official.
But when all that discounting is done, its still apparent that the association of Biden with economic conditions brings down the assessment of those conditions. Biden may yet be able to mitigate this by stressing his support for popular progressive economic policies, and the continuation of the recovery (in which his actual record is nothing short of stellar) may help some, too. But looking at this polling suggests that if hes to defeat Trump, abortion and Trump himself are the themes he most needs to sound.

It looks like Trump's potential second term economic policy plans are reaching for the Triple or Quadruple Crown of dreaded results as cited over and over again by Wingers here and elsewhere:

Bear in mind, as has been the irrefutable pattern for at least the past 100 years, whoever takes over from an outgoing Dem Administration will have nothing serious to "recover" the economy from anyway. Which is the exact opposite of what always faces whoever takes over from an outgoing Repub administration. As was never more dramatically obvious than when the Biden administration took over from the Trump administration.
