Who says the independents aren't reliable? I think one reason there are relatively few escort services is that there is a rather large independent scene, relative to the population. Locals don't have the wherewithal to fork over $125 for an hour, or whatever some agency charges so loads of them use independents. Agencies exist for the benefit of gringos. I've used CL and SS and had pretty decent results. My main problems were earlier when my phone Spanish was atrocious. It's improved but speaking a foreign language over the phone is one of the hardest portions of learning. Anyway, a couple wound up flaking because text or Whatsapp wasn't working well and we'd miss our rendezvous. The indys aren't for zero-Spanish speakers, or guys to scared to go out of the Zona. You generally need to be familiar with driving around, although you can Uber to a motel and wait. If you can be flexible and can roll with "surprises" like maybe a few pounds more that you think, or a few years older than expected, then you can have a great time at a fraction of the ridiculous prices demanded in HK. 800 - 1000 pesos per hour, or a little longer, is way doable for all but the prettiest 18-yo girls.
