Posts: 77Reports on the Best Western Plus
Has anyone stayed at the Best Western Plus? (not the SureStay but the nicer one that it's a little further down MacArthur).
The obvious knock is that it is about 500 meters from walking street. But the rooms seem much nicer than most and it comes with fee breakfast.
My usual go-to is Central Park, but thought I'd try something new.

Lately even if we don't stay the whole month, I realized that is cheaper to get an apartment for a month, than a good hotel for 15-20 days, you just have to do your own cleaning, etc.

I've only stayed at Central Park Tower and Score Birds (years ago), but CPT has been my go-to. Close to walking street, air con always good, big room and tv (jacuzzi suite), and wifi that lets me stream the NBA smoothly. Yeah the hot water takes a while. That's a legit criticism. Still my top recommendation though.

You might have to up your budget some and add in 100 pesos for the trike. Not sure of any hotels that fit your criteria. Possibly Penthouse but have seen reports that it is terrible now. I am a fan of ABC. ABC costs a little more and I squeeze my budget elsewhere for it.
Someone else could chime in about Savannah, Kay and others.

I posted this to another forum before my last trip. This time I went back to Central Park and tried Queens again. Both had the same problems I've described.
I used to be a loyal Pacific Breeze fan. It was the perfect hotel for me. Near the action, friendly front desk, hard-ass mattresses for grinding, good ac and WiFi, nice pool, etc. Then the maintenance started going downhill. The kicker for me was when I started noticing tiny ants running all around the room.
So I moved to Queens. It was almost perfect. And they had my favorite restaurant right there. WiFi was fantastic and the AC was super-cold. Then, in several incidents I documented earlier, my trip was almost ruined by the terrible front-desk staff.
So I went to Central Park. It had similar advantages to Pacific Breeze. Though I'm not a big fan of roof-top pools. But on my last trip, I started noticing some of the same maintenance issues I had at Pacific Breeze. I had to change rooms twice because they couldn't find one with working AC. You could smell a little toilet gas in the bathroom. And the hot water was inconsistent. A few other things seemed to be in disrepair. It wasn't unbearable. But it had me longing for the level of maintenance I was used to at Queens. I wish Guy and Roselle held their maintenance staff (and chefs at the restaurant) to the same high standards they hold their front desk staff and housekeepers. If they did, it would be a perfect hotel.
All that is a very long way of asking for hotel recommendations:
Easy walk to fields (Not so far that girls insist on a trike).
Good AC and WiFi.
Friendly and competent front desk staff.
Reasonably quiet and not third-world looking. I FaceTime with family back home and I need to be able to credibly say I'm in a business hotel in a major city.

Sounds like a great set-up.
What's the bill for multiple girls in this 4-6 girl scenario?

Posts: 1246Just a quick write up on the Penthouse, where I am staying this week. I'm sure this once was very nice, but that's in the past now. The room itself is still remarkingly nice (although tired). Bed is ok and I like it when the airco just stays on. Negative is waiting for water to turn hot, inefficiënt shower door and the lack of sound isolation towards the outside. I am on the Santos road side, which means you hear trikes and motorbikes til the early hours, and the last two days (I have only been two days sofar) someone across the street started playing music with full base at 7 am. As if it was in the room itself.
Biggest issue is that there is an issue with the system for the electronic doors to your room. This means your key card is only useful for the electricity slot, but you need the security guard to come up with you to unlock the door with the master key. I am sure this sucks more for them, but also not ideal for us visitors (yo say the least).
O yeah, only 2 towels is a bit stingy. Not even a couple of hand towels being thrown in!

Plenty of room for 4-6 girls.
No ID checks.
Shower can hold you and 2 girls.
Bath tub can easily hold 4 girls.
Always 6 bath towels stocked. No problem to request new set of towels.
Separate room for toilet.
Rotate girls to Aqua Club. Text them to come down when it is their turn.
Room service food orders and or drinks.
King size bed can hold you and 3 girls easily.

Are you guys still in here arguing about this place? LOL! I had a room exactly like the one featured in this video. I consider it to be a 4-star accommodation (and it was worth it too):

Way up Perimeter Road, there is an obnoxious Yanks who runs Danielas, a low cost hotel which moved a few hundred yard around Covid time I guess folk like him are stuck there, just as others end up elsewhere. There is money to be made there with hard graft, if one doesn't mind the pollution. Go check out all the family houses in Mountain View, all fenced in with iron grills.
Upping the price is a favourite tactic in SE Asia and it must make some kind of economic sense. I guess those who run the bars are not Bill Gates types and many of the sort who ran Margaritas will just face away. There is a considerable foreign clientele living there full time on limited budgets but, as they die off, horny Koreans will move in until low budget airlines ferry them in elsewhere.
For me, it is just a place to rent LBFMs, same as my local butcher store is a place to buy meat, as are the supermarkets. I don't need the Korean gloss, just some BB CIM meat.
