Returning, there was a VIP lounge after clearing security on the second floor.

The VIP lounge was nothing less than weird. It cost $35, came with 2 drinks, and a crappy sandwich. At the front desk, they took my passport and checked me in. For whatever reason, they said they would bring my passport back to me in the near future. They returned my passport and I asked, WTF? The woman spoke English, but I still did not understand the reason they held my passport.

Then she gave me an exit slip, another WTF? I had to present that slip to the woman just outside the VIP entrance and she asked to see my passport! At that point I was pissed! I asked, "Why do you need to see my passport? Are you an immigration agent?" She did not say a damn thing, gave my passport back, and I moved on to my gate. The only upside was they served Flor de Cana 12 year Rum and the bartender was not counting drinks.

So people don't worry the VIP lounge (departures) has operated like this for over 15 years.

The employees of the VIP are not immigration. They work for EAAI, the airport. In the past they had to take the passports downstairs to the exit passport control. Then they installed a booth in the VIP lounge itself with an immigration officer in the booth. Either way they do the exit process for you and always have, which is what you're paying for. Plus fast security and airline checkin, so add that to a couple rums or beer and a sandwich, it ends up being a bargain for a measly $35. You can also bring in a guest who doesn't get the drinks but there is no fee.

They "held" the passport because they accumulate 4 or 6 or 10 then do them all at once, either downstairs or in the booth. They know who you are and where you are sitting and the give it back. They take your credit card and come to you with a successfully processed passport and the credit card machine.

The people outside the lounge on the airport side work for EAAI and record the names of VIP users leaving to board the plane, which are matched to the immigration records to account for anyone. It takes ten seconds, it's been like that for over a decade and nobody is up to no good. It's their process. Just surname and flight #.

The upside is that they are fast. Security from the main floor before going upstairs and if you have checked bags they will go to the airline, check you in, get your BP and luggage receipt. And by and large you are avoiding bribe seeking customs agents when your stuff is scanned plus a security guard for you and your carry on who just about doesn't care what is in your bag.

Note the service is as valuable on arriving. Reserve in advance, I have my driver do that but you can call or e-mail. At the bottom of the escalator on arrival your name is a hand held whiteboard, and they walk you through a door bypassing immigration, a quick scan of your bags (same scanner for security but a faux customs check of your carryon by people who barely watch the monitor, no computers out and stuff, and you go up and they clear you for inbound immigration and the go find your bags and clear customs and bring them to you. Any opportunity for a customs shakedown is lost because you're not there to receive probing questions. '.

This is actually pretty great arrival and departure service at a quite low price where you are insulated from the agents you might worry about trying to shake you down.

They can also book a safe flat rate taxi for you and the rate, and they can call your hotel to let them know you're coming or if you're late etc. It is VIP level service.

Entry fee is ten bucks for all non residents, and you give that with your passport if you are doing check in service. You get your stamped passport back with a stamped tourist card in it. The only change with this was going from $5 to $10 which was at least 10 years ago. I'm in Managua right now and I remember paying the $5 because this is my 76th visit and my 20th anniversary here.

The customs form is for customs not immigration. They also created a confusing immigration registration form online on the government side. This is for NGOs and churches and protest groups coming down to build things. Not tourists. Don't fill it out. You will never get a reply because it is not for individual tourists. The questions about your NGO and purpose should make that clear. If you fly Copa they have a very short form online as part on online precheck. Do that form which you fill out and they pre-provide e-data to immigration. If you're not wanted on a warrant or persona non grata it just speeds things up.

And you fill that form out arriving and leaving, and if you may come back grab a few extras from the airline desk and you can prefill them. When I arrived Sunday the customs lady did not take it, did not examine what I was carrying. Just a carry on and computer bag. My clothes I wear here are kept here. That was a late night no VIP lounge arrival. My exit will be via VIP.

If you rent a car it is not a lot extra to rent a driver. I have a personal driver (for the last 20 years) . If a chele (white tourist) I is in a private vehicle with a local driver you'll never get stopped for bullshit traffic nonsense, and if you are stopped at a license and registration check, you, the tourist will be asked nothing by police, no ID, nothing.

Change cash. Only US, only new US $50 and $100 at the cambistas on the street south of the BAC building under the trees. It is fast and the best rate, better than a bank which takes ages, better than cambistas at the grocery near Plaza Espana and better than Mercado Oriental and Mercado Huembes.

If you can find a safe non shitbox taxi get the driver's name and number and use them as an on demand service, if you don't do what I do, which is to have a driver 8 a-11 p for a flat $60 cash a day gas included. I refuse to use street cabs. Having a driver is useful because they can haggle for you anywhere and minimize the dual price issues for you.

You really do need better than level 1 tourist Spanish here though Google with the speaking version works better than a dictionary.

NB I am writing this from my hotel in Managua where I am until Sunday the 14th.

Many of these sala and bar names are newish though I suspect they are in the same familiar locations with new names. Fenix was a 20 year project and from the outside it still looks like they are building it, which was always the case. The clip joints like Good Times and Diamond ( did not see a mention of Cueto Club) are unsurprisingly the same, overpriced and loud.

You have two types of Wanuncios girls - a few with prices in their ads which are about $30 FOR 30-60 minutesand under $60 for a couple hours but many with no pricing which are of course trying for double or triple.

The Nico salas/bars will use metal detectors for guns but not white cheles, and usually not their driver. Which is a plus because my driver is also armed.

If you do not have some cheap roaming service, buy a Tigo or Claro SIM at the airport for your phone. It is dirt cheap. I got a week with 7GB data, unlimited social media, 3GB of YouTube for C$100 which is not even $3 a week.

Some tips I can add -.

I took an official airport taxi and prices weren't bad, it was late at night and no ray drivers.

Can generate a one vendor use code for some credit cards thru bank, I used that to add to ray to protect real card number.

The drivers usually text to verify location, I was able to use google translate for this well.

Only one report for me:

Paradise Spa / Med spa.

Introduces as paradise but listed as med, not on google maps no signage. Find thru Facebook under med spa and write via WhatsApp.

2 chicas, shower there is disgusting. Pretty attractive. They will initially give you a menu implying manual service but they offer FS.

Was 100 for one hour FS with massage that consisted of just rubbing with body lotion and some body to body as well.

Here are a few notes, comments and helpful hints (I hope).

One thing to note about Managua. It is a dual-price mentality. Especially services (taxis, mercados, and girls). They have one price for locals and one price for gringos. I see it all the time. When it comes to markets and taxis I let a local girlfriend negotiate and I stand aside. Doesn't matter how good your Spanish is, they know you're a gringo.

Fenix:

One hour is $70. The other night the same 100-cord entry including a beer. Good deal considering in the past there was no beer included in the fee. Yea of the 4 I saw, they were all nice, with one outstanding.

LOL.

Solid Gold:

If you are a gringo going in there on your own they will always ask more. I never paid more than $120 for a session in the back.

Good Times:

Correct. One thing. The girl's drinks are more than your drinks. And like all clubs, the girls earn a commission on drinks sold (in addition to their cut of the room / girl fee). The girls will ask you to buy them double shots or mixed cocktails and before they have finished the first one they're asking for the next one. Last week the girl I was chatting up had 3 shots of tequila and I had one beer and I paid $40. And why so much? Commission the girls get and the reason why half of them (the ones that are chatting up guys) are pretty drunk.

And speaking of commissions, generally, depending on the club (not just one of the dive bars on Carr Norte or Linda Vista or Bolonia), the price for the room / girl is split 50/50.

Yes the requested price at GT is $100 for 30 minutes, but also remember the girls will be looking for a tip afterward (not mandatory but will be asked). One way to beat that is, while negotiating in the club, offer the girl $80 and that you will privately give her a $20 tip. She'll be ahead $10 and you'll be saving as well.

Yes, that construction makes getting there a PIA and as a result, the club's visitor numbers have dropped.

"Porky's", Azul Azul, Sol why Luna, why Vino Tanto and a couple of others:

All the same - $11-$14 for 20 minutes in one of their shit rooms. The trick is many girls will take their sweet time in the room and if you haven't finished at the 19th minute, you'll be hearing a knock on the door telling you time is up. You can try to tell them that you'll pay the additional when you get out / done, but the girl / club wants it immediately. Stop and pay, please. So, thanks for the interruption guys! Now if they know you as a regular or you know the manager, they'll wait for you to finish (you'll pay for the next 20 and you'll be giving tips accordingly).

Sobel Salon:

The price for one hour is $100. I used to negotiate $80 for 30 minutes, but now with the economy like shit and business down, the girls won't do 30 minutes sessions.

Nice quiet place where you can chat up the girls get to know her etc.

Street girls:

I HIGHLY recommend you 100% of the time avoid street girls at night and 95% of the time during the day. There are plenty more street girls than mentioned, even around the corner from Sobel there are always 3-4 girls on the street. There are a variety of other neighborhoods that have a few girls on a corner, plus girls on Carr Norte, etc.

The problem with this is it can be dangerous, especially for gringos (for obvious reasons). Often these girls will tell you which love-hotel (auto hotel) to visit. Never, ever do that! They could have a "friend" waiting at that location, ready willing, and able to help you part with your money, your phone, your watch, everything. Know in advance where the local love hotels are that you're cruising around in and go somewhere other than what she says. There are many of them and they charge $10-$20 for 2-3 hours depending on the hotel, the location, and the type of room. Another word of caution with street girls will undoubtedly have a razor or knife somewhere concealed for their protection.

Wanuncios girls:

The range for girls there is a low of $40 to a high of $120. Some include the room but most don't. I had one for $45 for 30 minutes including room. The majority (including small agencies) ask for $70-$80 and are hot. Very few girls are asking $100 or more, and chances are those who want that much are likely agency girls advertising on their own while the agency markets them separately. In addition to the fee for services, some will only meet at hotels / love hotels (a few have an incall), and generally, they will not visit a private condo / apartment / house (unless they already know you). Some will want you to pick them up at a meeting point and then go to love-hotel. Some we'll want you to pay for a taxi both ways to meet at the hotel / house as well.

Side:

In addition to Ray, there is InDriver where you make an offer. Most people use Ray to get a price (knowing their price is higher) and then go back to InDriver and bid accordingly.

Welcome to Managua!

Managua is a large spread-out city. For the most part, the city was rather dirty. Trash and garbage seemed to be part of the scenery. The cleanest part of the city was in a small tourist area near the Santiago Cathedral and Paseo Xoloylan. The city was also clean around the large hotels and shopping malls.

According to Wikipedia, "Managua is the capital and largest city of Nicaragua, and one of the largest cities in Central America. Located on the shores of Lake Managua, the city had an estimated population of 1,055,247 as of 2020, and a population of 1,401,687 in its metropolitan area. The city also serves as the seat of Managua Department. ".

Why Managua?

I returned to Managua because I am running out of places to visit in Latin America. The last time I was there was in January 2012 and now I am revisiting the country in order to see what has changed since pinche covid!

The SquareMouth web-site gave me over 50 quotes from over 50 different companies. I chose Trawick from National Mutual. It was for 5-days and cost $127.

I used CBX from Otay to the Tijuana airport and back. CBX round trip was around 46 bucks. CBX prices are seasonal. They have a low season, regular season, and high season. I crossed during the regular season.

Flight:

I flew Aeromexico round-trip to Managua. Each way, there was a layover in Mexico City. Beware of layover times at MEX! Make sure you have at least 1. 5 or 2 hours layover between flights at that airport! I cannot stress that enough. Between the four flights, three of them were delayed; pinche pathetic!

Immigration:

I did my best to research this topic before I left. The Aeromexico and other websites keep referring me to the Ministry of Interior website:

According to Aeromexico, that was the site where I had to fill-out the immigration form. I filled out the form and after a week, my approval was still, "In Process. " Turns out, I did not need the damn form to enter the country!

Customs:

The customs form was provided by Aeromexico during my flight. I needed one to enter and another to leave. Thus, I took two forms from the flight attendant. I could not find the form online; maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

Tourist card:

I bought the tourist card while going through immigration. It cost $10 bucks.

Hotel:

I stayed at the Intercontinental at Metrocentro Mall. The hotel was outstanding! My room, the service, and location were top-notched. Was the hotel chica friendly? Yes, I had one of the bar chicas meet me in the hotel and an escort from Wanuncios which I greeted in front of the hotel.

Communication:

I have the T-Mobile Go5 GPlus55 plan; no worries whatsoever.

Money:

I use the Oanda web-site whenever I travel. The currency in Managua is Cordoba. When I looked at the exchange rate online, it was 36.30 to one US dollar. First off, the US dollar is widely used in Managua. Either way, I brought some cash with me. At the airport I withdraw some Cordobas; just in case. The rate was 30.78. Plus, I did withdraw Cordobas at an ATM in the mall; the rate was 36 c for 1 dollar. My advice would be to only use US dollars; so much easier!

Transportation:

My trip from the airport to my hotel cost $30 US. Oscar brought me back to the airport and I paid him $30 US as well. It was around 30 minutes each way. Speaking of Oscar, he was one of the hotel's taxis and I hired him for a couple of days. I paid him an hourly rate.

First and foremost, there were no Ubers in Managua. They have another company called Ray. Ray has an app and I downloaded the app before I left. I did not trust the app enough to provide my credit card number, so I just paid cash each time. I used the service several times and had no issues.

I also used a few taxis during my stay. None of them were metered and the prices were reasonable. Another note: They all asked for Cordobas as payment. I did not ask about using dollars as payment because I was only carrying twenty-dollar notes. With the taxis, I would recommend having some Cordobas, but in smaller notes.

Locals:

I found the locals were overall very friendly. The locals seemed pretty laid back, which I found in conflict with the high crime / murder rate in the city. But I was not there long enough to really judge the people or city. But the people I did have contact with, seemed quite warm and friendly.

Spanish:

During my stay, I heard very little English, which included in the hotel, restaurants, and Rays / taxis. If you really want to have more fun when traveling in Latin America, you might want to step up your Spanish game.

Restaurants:

I did a lot of research before I left and here are my thoughts on the food scene:

Don Candido. Outstanding.

Cocina Haydee Excellent.

Factory Steak Excellent.

The Market Very good.

Pupusas 100% - Excellent.

Di Mi Tierra Good.

Overall, the food was pretty damn good. I only saw a few street food venders during my romp.

Strip / table dance clubs:

In each club / bar, I asked several questions and did my best to write the answers on my trusty note pad. Thus, if I am wrong with any of my notes, feel free to chime in with the correct information. I wrote down the prices of the cheapest beer and ficha.

Club: Fenix.

Cover: 100/ included one beer.

Beer: 100 (they only serve beer).

Ficha: Not sure.

Sex: $75 for 1 hour.

On Site: Yes.

Number of Chicas: 3.

Quality of Chicas: 2 good and one hottie.

Night / Time: Thursday /6 and Friday /10:30.

Comments: I stopped in Fenix at 6 pm on Thursday. It looked like a club on steroids. The decor was off the hook! It was not like I remembered in 2012. That day, there was only one chica available, so I decided to return the next night; Friday.

I returned on Friday evening at 10:30. There were 3 chicas available and I chose the tiny dark-skinned hottie. We went to a large room that was completely covered with mirrors and had a rusty dance pole (ouch). We stripped down to bare metal, put on our slippers, and headed to the decrepit shower. At one point in the shower, I lost one of my slippers. As a result, I slipped on the floor and almost went down for the count; my hottie saved me! It was a great hour!

Comments: Getting to this club was not an easy task. There was construction surrounding the place and the drivers had issues with their navigation skills. When I went Thursday evening, the place had a great line-up. I did remember this club because of the fire pole entrance to the stage. I fell in love with 2 chicas, we chatted and drank, and then I decided to leave. I did regret not spending more time with one particular chica. I just figured I would return Friday night and spend time with her then.

That did not happen! Of course she was not there! The club had less than half of the chicas available. I chatted with the bar tendering chica and she explained that many chicas returned home to their families because of Semana Santa. At that point, I decided to have a couple of drinks with bar tendering chica; she was a hoot!

Comments: This was a large nice club that was across the street from my hotel. I had a good looking chica attack my old ass as soon as I walked in the place; we became good buddies. I wanted to take her up to the room, but that was until she told me she wanted to spend time with me in my hotel the next afternoon. She followed through and spent more than two hours with me; the cost was $150. As far as the club, I really liked the place.

Bars:

Bar: Porkys King.

Beer: They only served beer and it was quite cheap. I forgot the price.

Ficha: Same price as the beers.

Sex: $8 for 20 minutes and $26 for one hour. Apparently, they suck at math.

Quality of Chicas: OK to a tad more than OK.

Comments: This was a local down and dirty bar; I enjoyed the place. Most of the chicas were chunky and I knew all of them would fail the weight test; I passed on the sex stuff because I was scared!.

Beer: I forgot to write it down, but everything was cheap.

Comments: For whatever reason, Oscar thought it would be a great idea to bring my white pasty ass inside a black club. Hell, I even paid a cover charge, which I forgot the price. So, we went in, found a table upstairs, and had an adult beverage. Shortly thereafter, we bailed.

There were more down & dirty bars that I wanted to explore, but I ran out of time. I love those places!

Massage:

Place: Spa Sobell.

Beer: 100.

Sex: $120 for 1 hour.

Comments: The place looked like a regular house. It was a hair salon in the front part of this house, but after you past through the salon, there was a bar and lounge in the back half. I started chatting with a tall hottie and was surprised that her drink cost the same as mine. Again, I fell in love, thus, I needed to spend more time with her; but in the room of course.

Place: Spa Haren (Minerva).

Beer: Never asked.

Comments: Oscar introduced me to this place. There was a sign on the red brick wall in front of the building that said, "g-infinily NAILS STUDIO. " The place did not seem to have any lounge; maybe I missed it. They brought me to a massage room and 1 by 1, each chica came in the room and introduced themselves. Out of the 8 chicas, I wanted at least 5 of them. I struggled, but chose one of the hotties. I was a good experience!

Street Girls:

Oscar told me the street girl action was limited because of the government. I asked him about two areas: On Carretera Masaya between the front of Plaza International and Telcor. The other location was on Carretera Norte in front of the Presidential Palace.

Oscar agreed on the two areas, but said there was very little action. I did not have the time see the areas, so, I am not really sure. Please chime in if you have more information.

Escorts:

I only used Wanuncios during my romp. Because I am an old dumb bastard, it took me some time to figure out how to contact the escorts. Once I did, I was good to go!

I contacted several, but only got a response from three. I always ask for one hour and thirty minutes because it takes me awhile to take off and put back on my clothes. The responses range from $100 to $200. I liked the chica that offered me $120 because she continuously stayed in contact and we made a date for Saturday afternoon. It all went well!

Final thoughts on Managua:

It was a seeking putas and eating good food trip. I thought the city was quite safe and I never felt threaten in any manner. But then again, I did not walk around the city at night. Would I ever return to Managua? Nah, two times was quite enough. Overall, I had a great time! Would I recommend it to other mongers? Absolutely!

Flight:

I flew Aeromexico round-trip to Managua. Each way, there was a layover in Mexico City. Beware of layover times at MEX! Make sure you have at least 1. 5 or 2 hours layover between flights at that airport! I cannot stress that enough. Between the four flights, three of them were delayed; pinche pathetic!

Immigration:

I did my best to research this topic before I left. The Aeromexico and other websites keep referring me to the Ministry of Interior website:

According to Aeromexico, that was the site where I had to fill-out the immigration form. I filled out the form and after a week, my approval was still, "In Process. " Turns out, I did not need the damn form to enter the country!

Customs:

The customs form was provided by Aeromexico during my flight. I needed one to enter and another to leave. Thus, I took two forms from the flight attendant. I could not find the form online; maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

Tourist card:

I bought the tourist card while going through immigration. It cost $10 bucks.

Hotel:

I stayed at the Intercontinental at Metrocentro Mall. The hotel was outstanding! My room, the service, and location were top-notched. Was the hotel chica friendly? Yes, I had one of the bar chicas meet me in the hotel and an escort from Wanuncios which I greeted in front of the hotel.

Communication:

I have the T-Mobile Go5 GPlus55 plan; no worries whatsoever.

Money:

I use the Oanda web-site whenever I travel. The currency in Managua is Cordoba. When I looked at the exchange rate online, it was 36.30 to one US dollar. Transportation:

My trip from the airport to my hotel cost $30 US. Oscar brought me back to the airport and I paid him $30 US as well. It was around 30 minutes each way. Speaking of Oscar, he was one of the hotel's taxis and I hired him for a couple of days. I paid him an hourly rate.

First and foremost, there were no Ubers in Managua. They have another company called Ray. Ray has an app and I downloaded the app before I left. I did not trust the app enough to provide my credit card number, so I just paid cash each time. I used the service several times and had no issues.

I also used a few taxis during my stay. None of them were metered and the prices were reasonable. Another note: They all asked for Cordobas as payment. I did not ask about using dollars as payment because I was only carrying twenty-dollar notes. With the taxis, I would recommend having some Cordobas, but in smaller notes.

Locals:

I found the locals were overall very friendly. The locals seemed pretty laid back, which I found in conflict with the high crime / murder rate in the city. But I was not there long enough to really judge the people or city. But the people I did have contact with, seemed quite warm and friendly.

Spanish:

During my stay, I heard very little English, which included in the hotel, restaurants, and Rays / taxis. If you really want to have more fun when traveling in Latin America, you might want to step up your Spanish game.

Restaurants:

I did a lot of research before I left and here are my thoughts on the food scene:

Don Candido. Outstanding.

Cocina Haydee – Excellent.

Factory Steak – Excellent.

The Market – Very good.

Pupusas 100% - Excellent.

Di Mi Tierra – Good.

Overall, the food was pretty damn good. I only saw a few street food venders during my romp.

Strip / table dance clubs:

In each club / bar, I asked several questions and did my best to write the answers on my trusty note pad. Thus, if I am wrong with any of my notes, feel free to chime in with the correct information. I wrote down the prices of the cheapest beer and ficha.

$30 US dollars is a stretch. You can find girls for that but usually not appealing. $40 is the lowest decent price in my experience. $60 is average for an hour for decent on Wanucios. The good clubs the price is like $80-$120. You can find gems. The CHRO comic situation continues to get worse so process may go down and more supply is likely coming on the market.
