I will not go to Laredo to monger anymore Dramafree11, I know I am a good guy but thank you for recognizing that. To be honest, sometimes it gets a little lonely being a good guy. I have allot of great memories from the old days in Nuevo Laredo and I have respect for Bbond who is holding down the fort in Nuevo Laredo. I noticed that there was allot more Mexican immigration presence in the Nuevo Laredo area, they actually came down a little hard on me this time around. I noticed that there is strong police presence at the checkpoints on the way to Monterrey. I wonder if the police presence has gotten any better in Laredo however.

I passed through Nuevo Laredo today around 1 pm on my way to mty and everything is back to normal. I had asked the bus driver what happened on Friday and he said that the road closures only last about 30 minutes and then it clears up after that.

You will now, they have stepped up their presence. Both State police, and the military, have increased their patrols, and re-opened the substation on Guerreo near Calle Hidalgo.

I remember mongering with a buddy allot in Nuevo Laredo back in its hay day but I also had some great experiences going at it alone.

I recently saw a video news clip where cops arrest a guy who goes around mugging people with a kitchen knife and when they opened his bag on camera all you could see were cell phones and purses so this guy was targeting mostly women do this sucks because I was hoping to walk in Alameda park on a regular basis and now I am having second thoughts about walking more freely downtown.

    1. Hotel Shot up.
    2. Stopped at a road block.
    3. Incident at the bus terminal.

Thanks Dramafree11, I am actually following your advice. Plus mty is by far a superior place to vacation, even if it's for one or 2 days. I will have to pass through Nuevo laredo to get to mty when I go there one weekend trips and the information that you have provided is definitely taken into account for things to lookout for when I am there.

Just a matter of preference. Both have advantages and dis-advantages.

I saw on the news today that Laredo has closed lanes on bridge 2 - 4 in order to assign extra border patrol personnel to help with asylum seekers. So that means that I am going to change the logistics on my upcoming 2 week vacation to Monterrey. If I continue with the original plan of taking a round trip bus from San Antonio to Monterrey and back to San Antonio, that means the there could be a potential increase in wait time for the bus to cross back into Texas. I already experienced extra wait time on the bus coming back to Laredo and I can only imagine the extra wait time due to a lack in cbp personnel and from what I can tell, buses are not at their top of the priority. I would think that pedestrians, especially pedestrians with a sentri pass would get a higher priority when crossing back into Laredo, USA. So, I will be buying a one way bus trip from San Antonio to Monterrey and when it's time to come back, I will buy a bus ride from Monterrey to nuevo Laredo, will then cross the pedestrian bride using my global entry (sentri) card and then catch a greyhound bus from Laredo to San Antonio. The apps I will be using is bus bud and greyhound on my android phone. If anyone has any updates on the lane closures please let me know. I would assume that people are super pissed right now about the lane closures and wondering how the asylum seekers are being treated in Mexico now that they are getting higher priority on the border than our own united states citizens.
I saw another news segment yesterday on the status of the lane closures in Bridge 2, 3 and 4 in Laredo and the word is that things will be back to normal by Sunday and Monday. The issue was that 300 dps agents were sent to other places to help out with asylum seekers but they will be returned to their home places of work this Sunday and Monday. I will keep an eye out on the situation.

Bbond, such great news about the montera opening up again, I agree that there is a market in Nuevo Laredo but as we already know that Nuevo Laredo needs tourism back and not sure how or if bringing tourism back to nuevo Laredo is going to happen. Tourism will take care of many people who need help in nuveo Laredo and will add balance back to the city.
