If I was to take my Chef to Lunch for Thai Food it would cost me 50 - 100 THB (1. 41 - 2. 82 EUR) to buy her food. That is routinely the amount that I tip her when she is in the restaurant alone during a slow period and I am certain she will get it directly.

While exiting, I had to ask for directions as the lift immediate next to the token counter was not available, one of the bouncers accompanied me and learning that I speak only english he exchanged some chit chat and then asked by action whether I came in for boom boom here, I didn't dignify that with a response and instead waited for the lift to arrive, he still asked for tip, I said next time and left.

I've been coming to Jakarta since it reopened after covid so I'm not a total newbie anymore but I've noticed girls have been pushing for more tips as of late, esp for BBFS. Just a year ago, classic girls seemed to be happy with 200 tip but now it seems 500 is the going rate. Same at empo, seemed BBFS was available for 3 to 500, now girls are expecting 1 million (Seems like it's the beginning of the end for Jakarta.

But the silver lining is it seems like stis are also on the rise as of late, especially the clap. So I guess these higher rates are a blessing in disguise. It was only a matter of time before it happened anyways, look how many BBFS reports there are on here and classic girls see at least 4 to 8 guys per night, 5 to 6 nights a week.

I do not give a fuck about what you think about the culture of Tipping. If you don't want to to tip, all you have to do is reach down into your pants and check that you have a pair and then tell the person requesting a tip: No! That is called being a man!

My tipping in those circumstances yield results for me far beyond the minor amounts that the tips. Yields that those with poverty mentalities will never understand.

Just one example: A restaurant in the building I live is the same as having a personal chef and a staff to serve me. When I make a new order the Chef will come to my table and go over all of the ingredient in the new dish (something very important for a person with food allergies) along with how the dish will be prepared. There is not a culture of tipping where I am. I am always pleasantly received and well remembered because of my pleasant personality (and my tips).

The amounts some consider to be a waste or that I throw around are insignificant to me. But 50 - 100 THB can buy a person two lunches here. Worry about your own flow and build your own stack and I'll do the same for mine and spend it how I like. Work on your Poverty Mentality and learn how to be a producer not a consumer.

Actually that's a good point. I too wonder sometimes if I'm stuck in a poverty mentality. I keep telling myself I can't afford to get back to Thailand, forcing myself to be trapped in this job that I hate, where my younger millenial gen z colleagues hates my guts. Well, I personally dislike it. I think it's gone way too far, especially here in the States. It's way excessive now. And the fact that it's expected, regardless of the quality of the service is definitely not cool. As for tipping in Thailand, I did it all time time, and only when I thought the service was good.

So when the chick I fucked went above and beyond, or was just super nice, you better believe I tipped. Or if the Grab driver wasn't an asshole, yeah, depending on the change required I probably tipped. But in cafes and restaurants, I almost never did, because it actually seemed weird to do it. Like culturally, it was not expected at all. Since the actual service fee was already included.
