So is it any surprise that the staff here view these punters as a walking ATM. You stick out like sore thumbs. Try and fit in a bit and you will find the requests for funding will drop away.

My lethal weapon is my mind. So, I am going to put some logic downrange and blow holes in the stupidity being express by an individual who does not even have the testicular fortitude to use the quoting process correctly. Need I remind him what thread we are posting in and that the ignore function is available to him.
What country is he from where they don't tip?

If that is not something that I should tip for then I don't know what qualifies in your book. She might very well do the same thing for you even though you are a cheap mother fuck who has no flow to build his stack and that is why you remain concerned with mine and how I spend it.
Number 2
HotDog666 is a victim of the Poverty Mentality.
The same mother fuck that will not tip is now call me pathetic and contemptible became I do. The mother fuck does not know the costs in Pattaya, Thailand otherwise he would not made such a idiotic statement.
Number 3
If I was to take my Chef to Lunch for Thai Food it would cost me 50 - 100 THB (1. 41 - 2. 82 EUR) to buy her food. That is routinely the amount that I tip her when she is in the restaurant alone during a slow period and I am certain she will get it directly.
It is a friendly business relationship. When mother fucks like HotDog666 are detached from social reality and therefor they cannot understand relationships of any kind unless it involves paying for social / sexual services from a prostitute in Jakarta.

(Bertrand Russell) And at the risk of ignoring sagely advice I shall do that for the last time with you, Subterranean Commode.
Why you felt the need to transfer your puerility to this thread from the rants and raves is beyond me.
>>Read the following post and tell me why you don't have anything to say to this guy who tips right there in Jakarta<<.
Wtf relevance does that have with anything I've written, and why would I have beef with this guy anyway??
>>You have failed to present one fact that individuals from the United States of America have changed the attitude towards tipping around the world. Your attitude towards tipping shows that!<<
I actually did. Several times. I mean if you want to labour under the beliefs that it's the Germans or Japanese or the Indians who are perpetuating tipping culture and you're actually deluded enough to believe that then there's no rational conversation to be had.
>>I do not argue I educate. <<.
You can add narcissism to your skill set.
>>I am alway in a great mood. <<.
We both know that this is a downright lie. You sir are a puerile deranged fool who resorts to anger because he cannot accept the reality presented to him which contradicts the delusional reality that he's conjured for himself.
>>Instead of worrying about my personal tipping habits you should increase your flow so you can build your stack .>>
And you say you understand strawman fallacy. I couldn't give a fuck about your personal tipping habits other than any corrosive impacts that it would have on mine. I have explained several times why.
>>Are you jealous of my Chef? .>>
Ha. Jealous? No, I think it's actually pathetic and contemptible that you think you are entitled to call this guy "your chef" for the few crumbs you throw at him.

They only ask because the last guy that looked like a long socked version of Mr Bean gave them some money when they asked and you all look, move and wave translate around the same way so why not try it on?
You draw yourself up to your full height and fix your best "Did you just fart" look upon them and they will very quickly get the message.
They are only asking because you look like you are lost. Which unfortunately for all of us you are, both physically and figuratively.

Marvelous. Brought some tears to my eyes. But then I stopped peeling the onions. The next Mills and Boon author you're not, so hopefully you won't give up the day job just yet.
<<I don't need you permission and if you could truly read and comprehend English here is what I wrote about tipping in post #62 in this thread:>>
And if you could exercise your brain for a little rather than your overly sensitive ego you'd realise what I was referencing regarding tipping and what I've repeated several times already and will not do again. You've been indulging in what is a strawman argument which is most likely something you won't understand. But don't let that spoil your mood. You can give your "chef" another tip to make yourself feel better about what a great guy you are.

You clearly aren't getting it so I was in two minds about whether it was worth responding.
Fine, you Americans have a truly fucked up system of the customer paying for the restaurant staff's wages. It's a messed up system in so many ways. I don't like it but it is what it is.
They don't have it in Indonesia.
Now you want to pay someone a tip for a truly outstanding service, do it.
I tip based on the quality of service I receive especially at places I frequent on a regular basis. In my opinion, everyone can do what they choose to do. Your time; Your money; Your dick; Your call!

Your trite and predictable " this guy hates America" is only slightly less lame than your imagery that " This guy hates me". Dude, I don't freaking even know you. You're some words on a web page. BUT WHEN YOU DO IT AS A MATTER OF COURSE AS A DEFAULT TO EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING from the bus boy to your favourite hooker. Not for awesome service but just because- you are having a corrosive effect on the rest of us. Wtf is wrong with you that you don't get it? I have given you literal examples of what I mean. WHY is this security man demanding a tip from me as I walk out of the Classic establishment? Why is a check out MACHINE asking me for a tip?
Whatever dude, I don't have expectations of changing your mentality. You can tip away as you want. I am free to think it's fucking stupid to have the mentality of "this girl gave me a terrible service so I tipped her only 100 k instead of 200 k".

Actually that's a good point. I too wonder sometimes if I'm stuck in a poverty mentality. I keep telling myself I can't afford to get back to Thailand, forcing myself to be trapped in this job that I hate, where my younger millenial gen z colleagues hates my guts. But I have a small next egg saved up, for just in case I get hit by a bus. I could use that, I could use that to get back to Thailand. Am I trapped by a poverty mentality? Do I really need this shitty job?

Posts: 392Tipping is okay in South East Asia. In the States it sucks!
Mr submarine commander, in the Thailand threads they said you'd be here. Roast me next! This is fun. I'm glad there's a rants section here too. I didn't actually read everything, don't have time, just kinda skimmed through. But everybody's talking about tipping right?
Well, I personally dislike it. I think it's gone way too far, especially here in the States. It's way excessive now. And the fact that it's expected, regardless of the quality of the service is definitely not cool. As for tipping in Thailand, I did it all time time, and only when I thought the service was good.
So when the chick I fucked went above and beyond, or was just super nice, you better believe I tipped. Or if the Grab driver wasn't an asshole, yeah, depending on the change required I probably tipped. But in cafes and restaurants, I almost never did, because it actually seemed weird to do it. Like culturally, it was not expected at all. Since the actual service fee was already included.
Let the rantings continue!
