Well, there's also a separate forum for Valparaíso here on ISG, although yes, it's even more dead than this one. You can add Laestokada and Lacamilla to your list of websites to check, see how's the offer outside Santiago. Valparaíso is the capital of Valparaíso region, but the name "Regióand V" (region number 5) is still used more often. You probably want to keep that in mind when checking these sites. You probably also want to check places in neighboring Viña del Mar, which is richer and might have more offers and just a short ride away (15 minutes or so), and in the same region of course.

Hi, it's nice to see my reviews have actually helped some of you! And thanks WT69 for the reminder about your map. A few afterthoughts below.

The scene in Chile is much better than all the English-language reviews seem to suggest. Tons of very eager Venezuelan girls, tons of venues, the only issue is that they all close shop for the night. After posting my reviews I found a few Telegram channels discussing cafes, topless clubs, and there are messages every 30-60 seconds or so. Many of the girls have IG profiles, even OF channels. Chile is a very expensive country, when you compare it with Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia etc. , but I have to admit at least the sex scene is ordered and you know pretty much what to expect. This forum isn't very active but I'm going to do my best to document my experiences here.

Day 0:

Flight: Flew in from Rio de Janeiro on LATAM, flight was fine, immigration line took forever but that was mostly because there were a bunch of flights that arrived at the same time. I was at the back of the line and by the time I left the queue was almost empty. No one either in Rio or in immigration asked for a return ticket. Only weird thing is they keep saying you have to do the agricultural survey which they seem to take very seriously. I did it but no one actually checked it.

To city: I read that the taxis are all scammy so I took a colectivo. They have counters inside the airport and are really polite and quick. I paid for my ticket and within five minutes the colectivo had departed making my stop first. Total was like 8. 8 lukas. I had a big suitcase and backpack but had no problems and they even helped me with my luggage.

Hotel: I went to the best western estacion central. It's a good international hotel. Generally quiet with strong AC. My only complaint is that the wifi does cut out for a couple of minutes every couple of hours. There is security at the front desk but I think their main purpose is to prevent criminals from entering rather than enforcing any policy. It is very close the university of santiago and the associated metro station. I planned on staying closer to plaza de armas but unfortunately my airbnb cancelled on me at the last minute.

ATM and sim card: ATMs can be found in the metro stations and in every couple of blocks depending on where you stay. The fees are ridiculous though, 8. 5 k per transcation with a 200 k limit per transaction. Fortunately my schwab card reimburses it but it is bad. Sim cards are great here. You can buy them off the street. I picked movistar because I heard it is the best. Put it into you phone, restart it and in a couple of minutes you will get a text saying your number is activated and you get a complimentary 2 gigs data plus something like 90 minutes calling, all for just 500 pesos (or I think it is free if you get it from the actual movistar shop). Topping up can be done via foreign credit card on the movistar website for a nominal fee of 680 pesos.

I was tired after the day and so I called it a night without any action.

Day 1:

I did a free walking tour at 9:30. Took the metro at that time and it was completely empty. It started in plaza de armas. There were a handful of streetwalkers there. The obvious ones were some sort of black (probably carribean) ones. I went to Cathedral Pariso at the basement as previously described. A few more details to add to those that may be visiting that may help others that don't speak Spanish. My time of visit was about 5 pm, there were about 40 guys and only standing room. There were about 15 or so girls. I made a brief stopover in Santiago. Thanks to all the great posters, especially LocalExplorer, for their beautiful reports and kind sharing of their knowledge and wisdom. Here are my very rushed notes.

* General notes.

- Flying into Chile: an eager airline gate agent asked if I had a return ticket. Which I, of course, did not have, so I pretended to be looking for it on my phone and bought a refundable ticket on the spot. After showing it to her, she did some puzzled button pushing but was eventually satisfied and let me board. No one else cared about my return ticket, including the Chilean immigration agent. So I refunded the ticket as soon as I got into the city. Beware and be prepared.

- Crossing the border: the immigration agent asked more questions than usual, including about what other countries I have been to recently. But after a few questions he let me through.

- Getting into the city: Uber works well, and there's strong wifi inside and outside the airport, strong enough to cover the uber pickup area. Cost me about $20 to go downtown.

- Getting around: this time I decided to stay in the stinking downtown, within a few blocks of all the hot spots mentioned in the other reviews. So I just walked. Airport is about 20 minuntes ride from downtown.

- Money: most ATMs would not work for my US cards! Only Banco Estado eventually parted with a stack of pesos. There's a flat 5500 peso withdrawal fee, so it may be advisable to take out as much as you can in one transaction when (if) you find an ATM that would be amenable to your advances.

- Connectivity: local sim cards are cheap (I think 1500 pesos) and have decent data speed.

I decided to quickly sample the 3 types of places mentioned: "topless" bars, "cafes", and massage places from the forum.

I don't speak any Spanish, which made things complicated in some ways. But then I have simple needs (basic BBBJ+CFS) so I am easily pleased.

In summary, to me Santiago appears perfectly manageable. It's not as good or as cheap as the neighboring countries, but the availability is there and the prices are reasonable and for someone with more time on his hands it would be possible to discover the gems that are doubtlessly out there. I would not come here for the hobby alone, but if I had other reasons to be here, I would welcome the opportunity knowing that I could be getting action every day.
