Although unusual this story for me epitomises the Gambian experience. The lying, the cheating, the money that always gets spent on something different then it was originally intended for and of course the revenge.

This made me smile.

As the prospect of getting into PH or Indonesia looks increasingly remote, I have been warming up a few possible in Gambia (easy to get to from where I am and relatively cheap).

In the last 3 weeks:

*One poor unfortunate unemployed lady (an "orphan" by the way) has seen her grandmother die, her grandfather taken into hospital (she needs to "sell the TV" for 3500 to "pay for medicine" and yet the guy who was going to buy it now doesn't want to) and her brother crippled with depression. Instead of going to the witch doctor he decides, without his first wife knowing it, to take a second wife and squanders all of the money. His first wife is now seeking revenge. The Scandinavian man wants to bring her to Sweden and if he does she is going to dump him.

Although unusual this story for me epitomises the Gambian experience. The lying, the cheating, the money that always gets spent on something different then it was originally intended for and of course the revenge. If a toubab finds out his wife is cheating on him or worse is actually already married to a local man it is most often the boyfriend/husband who will inform the foreigner as an act of revenge. Usually because he’s not getting any of the money (anymore).

I am planning my trip to Gambia / Serekunda and trying to find interesting info about our favorite sport but its quite of difficult to find sufficient amount of information about picking up girls in Gambia.
