Locals come from all over to have too much fun on Sunday nights. Decent sized dance floor, great dj music, girls having fun drinking and dancing and looking. The vibe is like Help in Rio during its' heyday.

Its good news about indrive if its works properly and has many drivers around but I doubt! I will be at tana on may month and will check it out!

    Indirect promotional material on ISG

So it seems to be possible to have a mix of fun and work under the sun and near the beach of this this great country we call Madagascar.

    1. I didn't say it's impossible. I said infrastructure in mada is not sufficient. It's not built for it.

    2. Most of the digital people are backpackers. They are not into high end hotels.

    3. You had to come up with a "new account" just to say that. I don't see you have contributed to the forum.

    4. Similar to YouTubers, bloggers use forums such as reddit to promote their blogs as indirect promotional material.

I wonder why the admins allow such forum posting.

Just let the ISG serve it's intended purpose. Try not to make it as porn hub where people post educational videos instead of porn. We have individual takes / views on countries and infrastructure. I am speaking behalf of mongers who visit mada for recreational *ex. I don't think it's suitable for full blown cloud computing or data science work. May be it's good for digital marketing like YouTube and blogs.

    I know

Power was out in Nosy Be for about 6 of my 10 days last year. Fortunately, the Airbnb had battery power that worked for everything by Airconditioning for about half that time. I also had a powerbank for my cell phone and managed to do most of my work on my phone and / or ipad. I spent a few nights at Ylang Ylang when I couldn't stand living without AC. And I recharged everything there.

It's certainly not easy. But it is doable.

    Being robbed

A modicum of precaution will prevent that almost all the time. Let me ask you, do you leave anything about when you go out that any of the staff, particularly cleaners, could lift? If not then you shouldn't have to worry about the hos. They absolutely do not want that kind of attention, bad for business and they don't want cops or hotel receptionists to know they are troublemakers, or thieves.

I have never had a hooker steal anything from me (in Mada!) as far as I know but a couple of years back somewhere between Diego, Tana and Tamatave 50 bucks US went missing. I had actually forgotten and paid no attention (stashed in my bag) until a week to departure and I discovered whoever did it left me 2 dollar bills but had liberated the 50! Almost certainly a staff member. I know it was not a hooker because my stuff is always left in view even from the WC. I was a bit surprised because if I knew earlier and had made an issue of it someone would almost certainly be fired. They do NOT want to lose their jobs.

If you are still worried find a short time room for 5-10 K.

All the digital people should avoid mada

If it's daytime action you are looking for (there isn't much) make an appointment for the next afternoon instead. Not rocket science.

Don't come to Madagascar at all. Even better. Right now a cyclone passed the south west coast of Madagascar. Wrecked the whole coast line. Hit TuléAR hard. Parts of TuléAR look like Venice now. Under water. No power. No Internet. In Mangily the beach was ravaged by high waves. Most beach restaurants are destroyed. 1000's of households are destroyed and under water. After that expect Cholera and Typhoid outbreaks. Another cyclone hit almost simultaneously Reunion and Mauritius. Air traffic is halted. Expect disruptions.

    Bienvenue a Madagascar.

    La Buse.

    1. Private entrance. I love hotel Ylang Ylang. But the walk of shame is bad and they completely shut the building down at some hour in the middle of the night. Not conducive to mongering.

    2. Air Conditioning. At least when the electricity is on.

    3. On or near the beach somewhere between Ambataloaka and the Tati Cris area. I don't care if it is a 1-200 m walk. And I also don't care much about the view.

    4. Doesn't look too third world on the inside. I'm doing facetime calls back to the US and don't want something that looks like I'm in a hostage video.

    5. Price. Up to $120 / night. I know this is high. But I'm willing to pay for the convenience if it has what I want.

Nice-to-have - 6. Nice desk and wifi to get work done while I'm there.

If anybody can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. I've scoured Airbnb and come up empty. Worst case scenario, I get a hotel room in a nice location and a fuck shed somewhere. But that would suck.

    Antsiranana / Diego

Saw this place in the middle of town, on a traffic circle.

Looked through the door and saw 2 unattractive skinny ladies sitting at a table chatting. Didn't go in.

Nearby (can be seen from the main road), there was a beauty salon / massage place. Forgot how much in AR but 10 euro was ok. However the young chubby girl that was going to do the massage was eating. The girl at the desk held up 5 fingers as in she'll be done in 5 min. Nah, she wasn't that pretty. Plus the place didn't have air conditioning.
