my first trip to cebu this week after recommendations from wr and others.

Xman, the bus ride to Malapascua from Cebu is only about 2 hrs, you can go to CITILINK near the E Mall. Cheap, like P200..... Was just down there a week ago fishing but I drive there. There is some action there, a few unattached ladies, but mostly it is a tourist diver type of place. Also as I cautioned before, beware of the tranny's, lots of Byotes for some reason.

There is a disco that is only open on Saturday nites, I think "Parita's" or something, just ask around, they'll tell you. you might meet a prospect or two.

I rented a car and drove because there were 4 of us. My first time driving in a foreign country. As I remember it was a LONG trip up to Maya at the north end of the island. My best recollection is 3+ hours to Bogo then another 45 minutes to Maya on a dirt road. Then we rented a small boat to get to Malapascua. But it was a real experience for me so I didn't mind the drive.

Since I have been to both, I can say that logistically, Alona Beach is the clear winner. The scuba diving was better at Alona too.

I'm Chinese-American planning to visit Cebu later this year. Do you find many Asian foreigners are also malling? Would you recommend a different approach for Asian guys at Ayala Mall?

I ask this because, for Filipinas looking for a potential overseas husband, many of them think of middle aged to older white dudes.

I know there are lots of Korean dudes in Cebu. I'm not sure if they're exclusively hitting the clubs or if they're also at the malls.

From what I've seen for myself, most pinoys will go for the younger (20's) to middle age whites first before going for the asian guys. To them it's a numbers game. They know that it's less likely the asian guy will be attach long term to them as they know they are ONLY there for p4P. The likelyhood is nearly zero for attachments. If the pinoy is strictly in it for the $, then everyone is fair game to them (white , black or asian--as it's business and not personal). Of course this is from what I've seen and heard from asian friends so strictly IMO.

Heh, I agree with what David_33 just said here as well as what Red Kilt said earlier. I think some foreigners feel they can just easily pickup girls at the malls like as though a majority of them are desperate and willing to go with you because you have money. Don't expect most of the girls to just be throwing themselves at you like you're some famous celebrity. In most cases, that won't happen. However, if you establish eye contact and she smiles and starts talking to her, there's a good chance she will give you her number or hang out with you. Don't be some desparate guy on a mission to pickup a girl at the mall. When I go to the mall with my friend(s), we go there to eat, shop around, hangout at a spot and talk story.
