As a good ex pat amigo of mine says as soon as your Spanish is sufficient enough to make them laugh in their own language than you are most of the way towards getting what you want from them.

Learning some conversational Spanish is an investment that you will reap many rewards from.

Manotje, I hear you. It is a difficult problem to have and I was concerned about that as well. Use an online translator and stay at a hotel with free Wi-fi. I speak a bit of spanish but not well enough to get into deep discussions. Chicas loved using Google translate. If that got too boring, I had a mini ipod player with speakers and I downloaded half a dozen of their favorite songs and that gets most latinas going. What I am saying is that there are other things you can do besides talking.

By the way, Paisa lover is very professional. You don't have to worry about it.

Due to the moderation of this board, our posts crossed each other.

Anyway, I'm glad you got my email.

As far as spending 4 hours with a girl which doesn't speak English is concerned, what many of our customers do is they use a little Netbook computer for translating. That works pretty nicely. The girls are used to typing and using a computer for translation. Some customers actually have a blast with their girls this way.
