Posts: 4145Prices, and how much is too much
my opinion is everybody should pay as much as they want. i think we probably agree about that. i find it funny how often the subject of prices in north america and europe come up in south america, asia, and europe forums. it don't make no sense to me but i always laugh.
so anyway, my comment about r$300 was all about sao paulo and nowhere else. r$300 is awesome price in new york, paris, but what difference that make. we talking about sao paulo.

where can you find these prices in canada or in the us with good looking girls like that? in europe it is even more expensive.
for me r$300 is the threshold price and i don't like to pay more than that because i respect the law of the market. in rome do like the romans.
this is the reason why i don't spend my evening in tourists traps where girls ask sometimes between r$500 to r$700. but this is a free market and i respect the choice (whatever the reasons behind these choices are) of those who are ready to pay these prices.
for years i sticked to an advice that was given to me by my mentor gringo aposentado: "never pay more than r$200". but it was more than seven years ago. now if i keep up with the market (and the inflation) i think that nowadays r$300 is a realistic and fair price for some (here i'd like to stress the term "some") gdp.
on the other hand there is what i can call a "trashold price" (a contracted form of trash threshold price) : it is around r120 in a privê or r$200 in a nice clinica. what is good in these venues is that you can ask garotas their private phone numbers and make a deal with them in order to meet them outside the privê and the clinica for a very fair price. this is there where hobbying becomes a sport: you need to be an expert in negotiation to obtain the best deal possible.
what is even more interesting (and cheaper) than gdp is to have a date with a non-pro. what are the best places to find them? in the happy hours spots near avenida paulista, sales clerk in the numerous shopping center that are rep001tered over the city (my favorite hunting ground is the ibirapuera shopping center).

This should be deleted because of the price alone!

Posts: 1Upcoming trip to São Paulo
Hi fellow mongers,
I am a long time lurker, but I am now in a situation where I can join in the action. I'm planning to spend 2 weeks in São Paulo, maybe a few days in Rio de Janeiro (I'm looking for your opinion on whether Rio is worth it). I haven't got flight or hotel yet. Looking for recommendations.
A little info:
I'm flying out of Atlanta.
Tentative date is after carnival. Apr-May.
Staying for 2 weeks.
I want to set a budget based on a really nice suite (GDP friendly) .3 sessions a day (hopefully some overnights) , and general expenses. I have it set at 6000 USD right now. This will be my first trip out of the US so I really want to do it big. I'm checking flights and accomadatio s now. I will make regular updates. So far I have been hitting the gym and study Portuguese like my life depends on it. Thanks for your reports and I look forward to becoming a contributing member.
