There has to be mongering happening in SPS. More than is being reported here. I posted a while ago about my finds. Leslie and others. I'm here for three days and I will find some latin heat to hit and report. When all else fails, my 'go to' guy is the concierge at the front door. Will report.

Posts: 3I'm planning a trip to SPS soon. I have read through most of this thread and it seems like Generous Gent has the most knowledge of the country. Thanks in advance for all the travel warnings. I've been reading the sucesos section at la prensa.
From the sounds of the scene on the streets, I want to stay away from street-walkers and go for escorts only. Who should I talk to to get some fresh young talent? The last mention of Omar's number working was in 2008. Anybody know if he's still around and using the same number?

You should check La prensa dot com and click sucesos. This will give you a better idea of what to expect and avoid.

Posts: 230Haven't heard any problems but the common street variety hanging on the corner and walking along 1st street likely would present a problem. The homeless, crackheads, and criminal types are the ones likely turned away. Also, it hasn't been reported yet, but the bacalao is no more. It has been torn down! A couple of us gringos were entertaining the idea of buying, but really, with tourism so low and this place needing so much money invested in improvement. We decided against it. Word is not only the tax man cometh, the gangs were starting to shake him down too.

Posts: 230This is the point I tried to make. This place is downright dangerous, and if by the remote possibility some chica you are interested in dating turns out to be the novia, ex-novia, or even hermana of someone involved in shady stuff, you know exactly what is going to happen.
The tourist's who visit for a week likely never watch the noticias, or pick up a newspaper. Others are in their relatives barrios, where they may be safe with whoever it is recognized as a vecino, but running solo would present a major safety concern. You live here now and you are very aware of your well being.
There's a lot of women out there just looking for a novio to take care of them and these are good girls. You know the drill. You're going to do just fine. My best luck was always the grocery store. These chicas do have to eat. Semana Santa is the first week of April, and many women hit the beaches in Tela and Ceiba. Not the best time in San pedro Sula to find anything other than exactly what you were describing. Bueno suerte.

Posts: 86Crime is bad, people already being murdered from work within a few hours of arriving. The women are hot though, so varied. The strong featured women I worried about are here but there is something for everyone's taste. I was told these women like the foreigners but I haven't seen evidence of this yet outside of some flirting.

I don't know that it would be necessary to monger or pay anyone though, since there are enough freebies. I saw some nice ladies on the arm of some gringo from Chicago though. Long legs and everything. You have to be careful these aren't the narcos girlfriend high on candy and horny. Then you're in real trouble.

Posts: 380I personally think you will be able to find the perfect women to trip your trigger while you are there. Some of my friends just returned from there and had a great time with the women. We would all like to go but have had the same reservations as you as far as crime please post and let us all know how it is in your opinion women and crime once you have gotten your feet wet.

Posts: 230There are many goregous women in Honduras. Seems at times, the photo does appear a litte scary. But again, a lot of decent looking women. In all my time in Honduras, I've never heard anything about a dose of venereal disesase, and most friends here appear to go backback. SO much crack use here; condom best way to handle it and be sure.
These Latina's will exploit any weakness you may have. You'll find yourself in the same category as an overused snot rag. They are well aware that money does not grow on trees, but there's those little machines that dispense money to gringo's all the time. You can not sexually harass a latina; she has used sex to gain whatever she desired all her life.
Crime is horrible though. Prepare yourself. Dodge City and no Matt Dillon. Armed robbery is a daytime job here.

Posts: 86Looks like I'm moving out there in a month. I have no experience with these latina women and am not even sure I have a "taste" for them yet because they look so. Strong featured. I don't know.
I don't want to be rude about anyone sharing pictures here but those women look a little rough around the edges. I'm really worried about moving to the Murder / HIV capital of the world here. Ugh.

Posts: 230Things have become worse in Honduras. Crime is definitely out of control. The newspaper has a map in it for San pedro Sula, and shows crime that was reported overnight. A normal day was 12-15 murders, but it has gone up to 25. Assausts runnnig close to this and remember, this is 'reported' crime. Most go unreported because of low conviction rate, retaliation and revenge killings, cops that don't do their job, and why bother. Who really cares anyhow because they'll never find them or bother looking.
We used to think San pedro was one of the worse places in Honduras but in the last year, La Ceiba has come to be as dangerous as the big city. The mara's are everywhere. And it's difficult finding a decent neighborhood to live because that element is already there and getting worse.
I live in Ceiba and thought I was safe behind the confines of my apartment which is basically a fortress. How wrong I was. If there's a will, there's a way and they are going to get into it and take whatever they can carry. Took 7 years to finally affect me. The loss was minimal, but it is the very idea they got into your home. Sort of violated.
Anyhow, your concern is understandable; pick where you live carefully, always be aware of your surroundings, never flash wealth, and most importantly, never ever bring a pick up to your home.

Posts: 86Thinking about taking a job here and reading these comments scare me. I'm mostly used to mongering in the Middle East and E. Europe. This seems a whole different level. Luckily I've never dressed nice so looking poor won't be a problem but I really would prefer not to be killed.
