Posts: 1359I'd like to see your Dr Novia now LOL
Yeah but did you understand the criterior I suggested? I said the person would have to look very similiar or could pass for the other person. You are male and I am relatively certain your DR novia is female? Do you and her look that much alike? I can see why they turned her away. I'm talking about two individuals that look alike or could pass for each other, of the same gender. LOL. I wouldnt try it or dont think it would work if both people can easily be distinguished apart.

My DR Novia was at a big Orange Store on Wednesday with a Copy of the Bill of the purchase from my sim card (on which was my Passport Number) + a Copy of my Passport and they told her I have to show up myself.
The Niece of my Novia could verify the Sim which i bought 1 Year Ago on the Claro Hompage using the cedula of her Mother. Which is a Farce becuae for sure now, when she would do something illegal with it she could be tracked, or the Mother, but the Sim itself could be stolen because she was not the First owner of it.
MY Novia can not verify the sim i have right now at orange with her cedula or Cedulas of her Family. We tried various possiblilitys

Posts: 1359I thought of a workaround. But it has to be done today. Lets say two individuals can pass for each other or look very similar. A person can fax or email a copy of their passport to someone who prints it out in the DR. The receiver goes to the carrier to verify the number for that person. I think it could work.

Posts: 1359I was just coming back here to report the long lines (for Claro and Orange) at the Playero. Maybe I saw you there while I was shopping? I am glad I took care of it yesterday early in the afternoon.

Was changing money and saw a long line in the Orange office in Sosua, This was the same office I bought my phone back in November with my Passport. They told me it didn't matter that I would have to re-register. There were about 20 people in line but the receptionist asked for my Passport of which I had a photocopy of, looked me up in the system, hit some buttons and said I was good to go and didn't even have to wait in line. I guess I got lucky for some reason. However after that I went to the SuperPlayero market and there were lines for both Claro and Orange and in talking with someone in the Orange line was told that the Claro customers had to get a PIN Number or something after showing their I'd versus the Orange customers not having to do that. I just contacted two of my girls to make sure they had registered their phones. A real screwy deal to lose your phone number and any minutes you have. Sounds similar to Mexico which did this a few years ago.

Posts: 1359A friend of mine back in the states called that number. He was told he has to bring his passport to a Claro office, they can't do anything for him over the phone.

Posts: 1359I believe there is a lot of information on this, that the carriers don't want the general public to know. There is a very good possibility many sims that were initially acquired with a passport or cedula will not be shut off. At least not in an instant of the deadline. My gut tells me, the deadline was made just to get people motivated to act quickly.

Posts: 377I think you should go to Sosua and not worry about such "social" codes. I'm black and all of my friends are except 1 or 2 white guys who are not uptight about being around blacks. But to your observations, if you go around expat Germans you will see them with Dominican or Haitians, and if you go around black gringos you will see us with Haitians or Dominican chicas. I fuck with them both, but I have a tendency to go wight he Haitians with the better bodies. Now there are short time hoes and long term cup cake girls. You need to figure that out.

She got no money. She bluffed and asked security for the police, as she throw a cup of black label on the floor. Then the hoe tried to pour herself another and I snatched the bottle out of her hand and told security I want this crazy hoe out of my room. Then I added this hoe has no passport because the police got it, so call them so you can verify that. The hoe left, but I loudly offered her 200 pesos. She yelled "that ain't no money. ".

Posts: 99First I sent my DR Novia to Orange. Indeed they told her I have to be there. Then I was contacting Orange on their Facebook Page, because I could not find any contact info on their hompage. There they did answer me pretty quick and told me to sent a email to there costumer care with a copy of Passport and a signed Letter where I write down my DR Phone Numbers. I did sent them what they want to have + added my Bill because I have the Bill here aswell.

Posts: 3802Confused about Phone Verification Discussion
I bought a $ 200 Peso phone from Orange back in November and had to present my Passport to purchase the phone. The phone works fine here, do I need to re-register which doesn't make sense in that I purchased the phone from Orange versus off the street.

I just passed a store (had Pulgas written various times on the ceiling beams) here in Bonao that has the cubes of clothes that CP mentioned in the quoted post. They are categorized by sex and size (kids or adults). I see in the picture that one cube even says Polo on it. They also had cubes of bed dressing.

Posts: 18164Cell Phone Verification (Claro)
I just came from Claro here in Bonao to verify my phone. When I walked in the lines were quite long. The line to the verification actually went fast. I think it was 10 minutes. However there was already a lady going down the line writing people's names and phone numbers. Since I do not have a Dominican cedula I had to go a different route. She had to copy my passport to the back of the form below and she filled it in. I had to sign at the bottom. Since Showdown had mentioned in the General thread that he is not in country and didn't want to lose his credit, I asked about it.
For those who are not in country call this number today: 1-866-788-6775 and they will take care of you.
