The streetwalkers come out late at night, but yes they are sketchy; many are trannys.

I'm heading to Cali tomorrow for a few nights; it will be my first visit there.
I'm staying in 6th Avenue area.
I see the recommended places seem to be Doctor Amor and Bar La 20.
But can anyone advise for weekends and evenings? Or are these places also open in the evenings and weekends?
Muchas gracias amigos.

BTW,
Apartahoteldelrio is a good option to stay at when in Cali. It is very close to Pharaohs and Clinica Amor and some other casas in the north part of town.

If you are looking for a hotel with a pool, I heard the Spiwak Hotel is nice. http://www.spiwak.com/en/services/pool.

Last year I stayed at the Hotel Now in the Granada neighborhood, which is a short walk in a safe area to the clubs and restaurants. The hotel is fairly new, very modern, contemporary, and stylish, and has a disco and a small pool on the top floor, albeit unheated and more like a dipping pool.
It is expensive for Cali though they are offering a special promotion of 317,000COP (@$100) per night.
The staff was great too.
I may stay there on my visit to Cali in early October. I was trying to find a similar type hotel and price in Bogota if anyone has information though did discover today that the W Hotel in Bog has a special promotion of about $100 per night. This is a five star hotel. It must be an acknowledgement of the dramatic decline in value of the COP or a decrease in business and tourists-guests.

Hi guys,
I'm on the Medellin board, but my first post of this board. I have a "regular girl" that I know from Medellin who is going on assignment for a month in Cali. She is staying with a friend. But she has invited me to visit her for the weekend on my next trip in two weeks. I'm most likely going to fly over there for 2 days and see her. I need to find a hotel. Normally I'd do the research on the board myself. But I'm real tight on time. So I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel in Cali. I do not need five start, but I want something decent. A pool and A / C would be nice. Close to bars and restaurants (whatever area in Cali is recommended) is a plus. Somewhere that a first time gringo in Cali would feel comfortable with a Paisa who has only been to Cali once.
Prefer to ask you guys rather than rely on the girls friend for advice. What do you think?
Thanks!
CL

Go there. More silicone than you can shake a stick at. They have everything and it's close to Cali plaza.

The US dollar and the Euro marked all time lows against the Colombian peso today. Mostly due to China's problems.
From a chart point of view its looks likely that the current level or even worse must be expected for some more time to come.
Became bloody expensive for me here in Cali.
