Just a thought, but for me, it would be convenience. If you don't like the hunt and just want to relax in your hotel or take the girl out for a relaxing evening, I could easily see its appeal. I think punters go the agency escort route because of process familiarity (they way they monger in their home market) and convenience. But the Bangkok scene is rich with unique and plentiful P4 P opportunities and a hobbyist should at least check some of them out.
