I second that.

Only option is to talk to some local cab / auto drivers who will surely know some contacts. Instead of asking openly for a tute, ask about a MP and they will understand.

I had luck in Kodaikanal since we had zero contacts there and Ooty is not a much different place. But my caution is try this only if you are desperate. Any time you venture out without a proper reference is quite risky in multiple aspects.
