The PI board (and AC especially) has so much information that a 5 minutes (but I suggest 30) RTFF will answer all the questions. There are separate threads on hotels also.

So how about RTFF then visit a few places you find / catch your interest (there are many as you will see) and let us all know your observations and thoughts as there have been conflicting discussions on the board recently and one poster said the only way to find out is to experience it yourself and then write about it. Sound advice and'est pas?

The only response you are likely to get is to 'RTFF', a response made to noobs like you (and me!) if you ask questions that clearly show you haven't done any research. Best to go back and read through the last dozen or so pages. Then when you ask questions it will be clear you are doing so having done some work yourself.

You already wrote that you don't want to take the bus. But since you have questions, I'll recommend the Swagman or Southern Cross bus services. Most passengers will be people with the same interests as you, but probably much more experience. I've struck up a conversation on these buses numerous times and sometimes received some good information.

The buses run from Ermita, so that would be an inconvenience if you are staying in Makati.

Things to do in the day? You'd have to get up early, but a hike up Mt. Pinatubo is worthwhile. It's an easy hike, but you wouldn't want to do this if a lot of rain is expected. Most people wouldn't want to hike in the rain anyway, but Mt. Pinatubo has a lot of lahar cliffs which are not very stable.

Alright so I've booked my first trip to the Philippines for the 25th of this month. The plan is to stay 2 nights in Manila at the City Garden hotel before heading to Angeles City. First night I'll check out a few gogo bars and maybe bring a girl back. Second night (Thursday) I'm going to the Royal club which hopefully be a good spot for civilians and freelancers. I'm a tall fit youngish guy so I'll see what I can get into.
