When I was in Medellin in November, I used Uber a few times. It was hit or miss because I never knew where the car was located. Even though I put in the exact address, I am not sure that info was transmitted to the driver. Sometimes the car would be a half block away from the address. A couple of times, the app showed the car on the street, but I couldn't fine it. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how do you find the car on a busy street?

Find your exact location on the map. The locator and the addresses can be off by quite a ways on the Uber app. Move your pin to your real location. And take notice of the license plate of your Uber.

FYI about a few weeks back bancolombia is now charging 12 mil pesos to withdraw from their ATM. With a max of 600 mil that means they're adding at least 2% to the transaction. Caja social seems to be the only one left not charging a fee.

My introduction to this world was a major shock. I was an 18 year-old drunk sailor that got jumped on by probably the worst hooker in St. Thomas Virgin Islands and I was in no condition to say no.

The first step is to learn the territory. What are the rates? What service is included and what is extra? What to be wary of?

First, things to avoid:

Say no to any trios or overnight stays. Trios are rarely worth the price and are also a good way to get robbed, especially if alcohol is involved. You're also likely to be nervous and that just adds to the nervousness. Overnight stays are for known girls, who have proven their worth. You don't want to spend the money to keep someone you aren't happy with.

Avoid any local wanting to help get you a girl. Too much risk when girls are easy to find. Avoid excessive alcohol or drug use. Colombia can be a dangerous place. Also avoid anyone who is giving prices in dollars.

Included services vary, but almost always include sex in multiple positions and oral sex. Some positions may not be allowed and there may be an extra charge for oral without a condom (BBBJ), I've never paid it. Oral sex on the girl (DATY) may or may not be included. Kissing is also on the maybe list. Anal or sex without a condom (BBFS) is usually an extra charge and not always available.

Current rates:

25 - 40 k for street walkers.

40 - 70 k for casa girls.

100 - 150 k for spa girls.

150 - 200 k for Facebook or freelance girls.

150 k and up for Tinder, Seeking Arrangements or other website girls.

El Centro strip clubs about 80 k.

Fase II 180 k.

La Isla 300 k and up.

Street walkers are usually a short session, 15 - 30 minutes. Casa girls are typically 30 minutes. More time is available for more money. The exception is Lindas Chicas, where the house charges 100 k for the room, plus any drinks and the girls usually charge 100 k for one hour. Spa rates are for one hour. The rest are a minimum of 1 hour. Personally, I avoid any girl from Facebook who is negotiating for 1 hour. I usually spend about 2 hours for the same price.

How to approach depends on your situation and on your level of Spanish. Basic small talk is all you need to start. Hello. How are you? After that, you might need a translator.

Other advice for Medellin. Leave your jewelry at home. Carry only what you need; phone, room key, ID (copy of Passport main page and entry stamp), cash (for most purposes, 300 k is enough). If you use them, Cialis or Viagra and a condom if you're going to casas or strip clubs. Except to withdraw cash, leave your cards locked up.

There's plenty of other advice on the forum. If you're really stuck, just ask.

Thank you Mr. E. That's what I was looking for. But apparently it's not (or no longer) necessary. At least so long as it has the format of a complete URL. I haven't experimented with whatever.com and www.whatever.com. But I guess UPLOADing this report will answer that question.

Bob, just highlight the website address by holding down the space bar and dragging the cursor from the beginning to the end, hold down Control key and see at the same time, then, wherever you want to put the link, hold down Control key and V at the same time.

Control + c at the same time is 'copy' and Control + V at the same time is 'paste. '.

And to Chesscat, Bob is a very good guy and some of us are really, really old. Like me! And every time I want to take a screen shot I have to google how to do it again. If you are fortunate, you may get to the point where you don't know or can't remember some things too.

Is it less expensive to buy the cell phone once I get to Colombia or buy in the US? I will be staying for almost 2 months. I don't need a super fancy phone, google maps, whatsapps, Uber and a few other apps.

Buy an unlocked one on ebay.
