I have seen the movie. Naturally I don't remember the phrase. Not sure if I would have guessed the meaning at the time, by the context, or not.

It's definitely very common in the USA and England. I'm not sure which English speaking country you are from where Too Rich for My Blood is never spoken.

And, what I said about keeping one's preferences to oneself, it was meant in the context of a face to face discussion, especially with someone who is not a hobbyist per se and, may, fear being judged (my buddy, for example, whose experience I shared in my previous post). I should have mentioned this in my earlier post lest my remarks be construed as an attempt at generalisation, which was never the intent. Thanks for that. Can't say I ever heard it. Perhaps not a common occurrence in my country, or at least not used in conversation. There is a lot of variations in slanfg and idioms between different English speaking countries. I initially assumed incorrectly, it may have been translated from another language. I could have spent more time doing English crosswords, instead of learning Thai, Issan, and a smattering of German. My main English reading in recent years is unfortunately technical manuals which are not big on idioms. LOL It probably did not come up in Science Fiction of which I was an avid reader in late teens. Sometimes one could hit such a phrase in a book, like one of the old time classics, and without being clear of the meaning, and just move on without looking it up. Still I fluked better than a pass grade in year 12 English, scoring a be grade. LOL.

What I write, is described as only "near English".

In a forum, I try to use very plain language allowing that not all readers have English as a first language.

To quote John McEnroe - "You cannot be serious!" That is an extremely common phrase.

    Holiday Inn Express Sukhumvit Soi11

Very girl friendly, no one even asks for any ID or bothers to look who is going in / out. The hotel is in soi 11 at the very end, and the stench of the street is quite bad. The hotel itself is a budget hotel with very good staff and the rooms are decent. You get what you pay for.

Not sure why I should keep personal preferences to myself. Guys can understand relevance of my report to them if I do state my preferences. If a guy has totally different taste and looks for different things, he can take my recommendations with a big grain of salt. We all understand that guys have some selection criteria, so we might as well admit it, whether its a low price, skin colour, willingness to do anal of BBFS, etc. My criteria might be quirky, like "slim thighs" as an example, just happens to be what I find sexy. Don't see why that should be a problem. Just means I am understanding moderately well what type of looks excites me.

Some guys like to travel with buddies. Not sure why. I have to travel alone and can monger anywhere I feel like it, and it is not too dangerous. Many years back girls born in my own country were largely average looking and boring. In the current age, the young ones look better. Hookers were very mechanical and had a long list of rules and restrictions (90% of them and only 10% were good). Imported Asian girls on average performed vastly better and had better attitude. I also found exotic looks more exciting, ever since my teenage years watching James Bond Movie where he goes to Japan. I also found some black girls on TV and Movies to be very exciting.

Coming to Thailand in 1991 was a monger's paradise. I was probably less fussy about Thai looks back then, still liking similar figures to today, but I did take girls whose faces today, are barely a pass. I can see from my photos some girls were not exactly stunning but the exotic effect, and good attitude overcame that. Since I was used to hookers with lots of rules, enthusiastic Thai girls with a good body was very welcome. I don't find any girls with tit jobs or nose jobs in my old photos. No big deal. I just did not choose them, or if I did, did not take a picture. In later years I found out that European girls could be really great performers too, and black girls even better (on average).

I agree that the prices of mongering in Thailand have always been an influence. Too expensive back home, for doubtful chances of a good time. 1991 I almost always had a girl for the night, since it was so cheap. I tended to stay in crappy Hotels then, as recommended by friends. Years later I could afford better Hotels, and so moved up to mainly 4 stars accommodation, and sometimes 5 stars, as discussed earlier, the number of stars was not that relevant. I always looked for value for money in Hotels.

Not all Hotels cost the same, since the quality, comfort, room size, and facilities varies so much. Unfortunately girl prices relate more to their location than to their performance, and their beauty does have an influence.

    Baffling Behavior.

We have seen guys staying at the J.W.Marriott in the past and complaining about any girl wanting 3K for a LT booking, or wanting more than 1.5K for a ST. That is the inconsistency I refer to that does not quite make sense to me. Surely if a guy wants a really good quality room and high priced, he probably also wants a good quality girl, and she may not be the cheapest girl going.
I agree with the first part. IMO, that is exactly how it oughta be. Having said that, I must add that there can be bewildering anomalies in the spending pattern of some well-heeled guys, which always baffle me. As an example, a buddy of mine, who visited Bali a couple of months back and had stayed at a luxury 5* resort for 4 nights, was sharing his hobbying experience with me and, to my astonishment, he told me that he travelled to some remote village to shag a 19-20 yo chick for a measly $20 or so. He spent more on the taxi, getting there, than the actual act! Of course, I didn't say anything to him, but, couldn't wrap my head around such absurd behavior. And, this is a guy who, I know for a fact, spends up to $300 a night on fancy hotel rooms and likes expensive single malt whiskey, but, finds shelling $150-200 LT on a hot number to be exorbitant. Speaking for myself, I don't find the talent in LOS to be commensurate with my taste and the reason for my hobbying, primarily, in this part of the world is that my travel buddies are not that well-off and, sadly, candy available in Dubai, Europe etc. is too rich for their blood and I don't like traveling alone. Always happy to hear a contra view. Thanks.

If you are going to quote me, please do so correctly. Do not remove the critical phrase so that the meaning is entirely changed. That is a dirty tactic. It means you claim I wrote something that I did not write.

I also don't have any problem with you hanging out with guys who have money. Each to their own and according to their means. I don't have any problem with you choosing girls to your specs too, assuming you don't take any old piece of meat.

    4* & 5* Hotels.

During my initial visits to LOS, I used to prefer staying at 5* properties, they are well within my budget and, to be honest, I find the prices to be quite affordable. However, during my last couple of visits, I decided to stick to 4* hotels, while booking a higher category room such as an executive suite or such like. IMO, this is more VFM as you get bigger rooms, often with a separate sitting area, separate check-in desk, club facilities etc. at a similar/somewhat higher price point as entry level rooms in 5* hotels. Plus, in my experience, you tend to get pampered more. I have been able to get early check-in (at even 7 in the morning) and late check-out (up to 5 in the evening) at most of the 4* hotels when I was putting up in their top tier rooms, even during high season. Also, the room amenities are equivalent to, if not better than, 5* hotels. I agree with Red Kilt, if you can afford it, why not indulge yourself. After all, YOLO right! Plus, in my experience, I've found that this sort of decadence impresses the WGs and, in turn, translates into better service for longer duration without any additional burden. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Correct. Originally the star rating was based on the number of facilities. The more facilities the higher the rating. It had nothing to do with the quality of the hotels.
However over the years more and more people started to consider the star rating as a quality rating.
