On my lunch break on Thursday I rode past a hot toc on hoang sa. Near McDonalds. Huge grey building with red writing. Doors always open with a couple of reclining barber chairs on show. Agreed most hot tocs in SGN are 300 k, however I think it would be tough for a foreigner trying to pay less than 400 k at Tuan Tam, but not impossible. NPK got famous on the internet. In 2012 it was 200 k.

My comment about 400 k being a fair price there was made in the context of other punters regularly paying 500 k and more.

Actually, a "fair price" is 300 k, because that is THE price. What's fair about overpaying by 25%? What a strange concept. Pay whatever you want, but there is no standard price. There is a house fee and whatever you want to tip. In HCMC, that normally means you double the house fee. So at all these places where the house charges 125 k or 150 k, the "fair price" and indeed "the price" is 300 k, not 400 k, 450 k or 500 k. Facts.

Strange, last time two times I went there in Jan 2018, the guys outside said 300 k total. When I pulled out money in front of the girl, both times they just said pay at desk. No asking for tip. Really good performances too, I picked the skinniest/hottest ones.

Not sure if others know this, but they also rim your ass if you motion towards that area or ask.

May I inquire about the other HotTocs location that you mentioned in previous post? Promise that I will not exceed the rate you have been paying as I, my self, also don't want the rate to increase because if it good, I will come back and no one would love to pay more I know that.

You might not pay more but others read this forum. They will. We've seen it time and time again. I like to share info. Here it's not needed. There are 20 places posted here for the over payers to continue to visit. If you have a spine you can get away with paying the going rate in those places anyway. For now I have to keep the places I found to myself. But really they're not so difficult to locate. Just keep your eyes open and ask around. It's mostly Vietnamese guys who go to these places. In my experience, they're happy to show you where.

It is easy for a foreigner to claim he will not pay more. But once he is there and realizes that no-one there speaks English or barley can speak English his idea of negotiating goes out the window. Then he realizes how hard it is to find these places for foreigners that don't know where to go. So the foreigner ends up over paying. My point is easier said than done.

Actually, easier done than said since you don't even have to talk. You just pay the going rate and then go on your way. It's no more difficult than that.

Guys, it's not even $20 for a BBBJCIM. That's the sad part! It's just 150,000 or 200,000 Dong. Seriously. Yes, even on NPK! You pay the house fee and you tip whatever you want. Sure you can tip up to 400 or even 500 if you wan't. It's your money. But why do that when you can just as easily pay the going rate of 200,000 or 250,000 ?

I found a lot of great HTGD in Saigon but I fear to share them. I'll come back a few weeks later and the expected prices will double or triple. You have to know the prices in Vietnam. If you don't the locals will eat you alive!

By far one of the best options for mongering in VN. But in SGN / HCM in general. Went to the same shop on NPK about three times, and each experience was the same. So spectacular. From reading the forums I just remember 84 NPK. And just had my grab driver drop me off close to there. The street is filled with at least 5-6 shops, mostly on one side of the road, but a few on the opposite. For each time I went, I walked up and down the street, trying to stare through the windows to see how many girls were in each shop. Many of them will have at least two to three. There was one shop that always had many more. I don't remember the address but you can just do the walking method and look in. Anyways, there's usually a gentleman outside guiding you in, but you can always ignore. I politely decline. I know a little bit of Vietnamese, so declining wasn't difficult for me. Anyways, I always found myself back at the same shop, it just always had the most girls and the cutest, again sorry I forgot the address. They all wore yellow dresses. I do look Vietnamese, so I would walk in, ask how many girls, and usually they would all come out. I always pick the one that is most interested in me, not always the hottest. I like more the GFE vs hotness. So base it off her smile, eye contact, if they asked me how was my day, etc. Then upstairs we went.
